Keto diet - anyone else?

Bin it.
This is like the people that have a pile of st food in the house and say "I'll start the diet once I've finished this off or it's a waste"
WTF?? If its bad for you the waste is EATING it!!! If you were on crack would you shoot up the last bit before re-hab so you don't waste those rocks!!!!
Ha, I'm afraid I can't bin it as I've wanted one for ages. I'm planning on doing 6-8 weeks keto, then moving back to normal calorie counting via MFP. I find strict keto too hard to run with 100% of the time. For example restaurants, working away, socialising etc. This is like the people that have a pile of st food in the house and say "I'll start the diet once I've finished this off or it's a waste"

Very much Keto based but also I guess by its nature means a much lower calorie intake. No exercise bar gardening! Think how much it could have been with exercise!!
Lost about 4 st since feb. The last stone 18-17 took twice as long - wasn’t as strict with food/drink.
Now big question. When I get to 16.x I’ve promised myself a treat - Chinese food, French fries, chocolate etc.
Will that cause an immediate gain, screw up the keto or what ?

Don't assume that keto means a lower calorie intake - it might be if you were a biscuit hound, but that isn't how it works. I've never aimed for a deficit, quite the opposite!
You can have the odd blowout, a meal, a night on the booze, sweets, whatever. Just go back to plan and you'll be back in 24 hours. Just don't keep doing it!

Bloody hell, 3kg from one big night?
Oh yeah. It can do quite easily, especially if your body is already a bit low on fluids. Foods like pizza, bread etc are very dense and also act like a sponge for beer and sugary pop. I've had it happen on many occasions when I've been low-carbing and decided to celebrate reaching a target with a big carby feast like that. 3kg is the top end but a 2-2.5kg increase is pretty much guaranteed on the scales the next morning after an 11" pizza and some beer/pop the previous evening. Add on some ice-cream or cake as well and you'll be looking at 3kg.I'm not low keto/low carb, though I do tend to stay away (for the most part) from booze, pizza, (I don't eat pasta/rice---save for rice pudding) I rarely drink pop, only when desperate.
And I can notice a 5lb difference if I've had a boozy night (not a regular thing but it happens once in a while) or gone nuts on ice-cream (more likely).
My diet has been more western typical since easter....

Experimental post dinner snack (it's a side plate). I am considering making them for packed lunch instead of taking a steak to work.
It's pemmican - beef jerky plus beef tallow. Should keep for months apparently. I can't see that being an issue when 1kg topside drying all day makes about four of those, and I've eaten two today.

I bought a dehydrator to make this years ago. Used it once and saT in the garage since. It's pemmican - beef jerky plus beef tallow. Should keep for months apparently. I can't see that being an issue when 1kg topside drying all day makes about four of those, and I've eaten two today.
Loved the pemmican, but as you say, it's just too easy to eat. Took three or four days iirc.
I have really struggled to do it long term.
I started it last summer and went full on for 3 months, which saw my weight drop from 100kg to 80kg. Which is one hell of a result. I looked years younger and felt the best I had for a decade.
But since then I’ve often found myself getting back on the carbs with an “I’ll start the diet again tomorrow” attitude. I stay away from bread an pasta and chocolate for the most part, but it’s hard to live without potatoes in one form or another, and my job has me taking clients out for drinks a few nights a week so beer is a big part of my diet again.
I’ve done ok because I increased my training from 2 to 4 gym sessions a week and I signed up to the Spartan Challenge and Tough Mudder (both of which I’ve done this past fortnight) so had things to aim for, which meant I kept most of the weight off and put on some muscle.
I just can’t find the motivation to take Keto as seriously as I did last year. I needed something extreme then as I looked a mess and simply had to turn it around, whereas now I can have a bad week of food and then do a weekend of no carbs and it doesn’t visibly punish me.
I wish I still had that willpower because I reckon another 3 months of Keto and I would be seriously cut. I just can’t make myself do it.

This is the keto bit I don't understand with people. Odd excuses! It's not hard to not eat a potato is it? I just spent a weekend in london, eating out a lot.....never encountered a potato once! If you want to eat them, do so.....but don't pretend they are some sort of diet item you can't avoid! I raise my 3 kids, teenage boys, and they go through spuds like anything - chips, mash, crisp, whatever.....never once have I found them forced into my mouth!
And the beer thing is because you like to drink beer. It has nothing to do with clients, etc, etc. Again, if you want to drink beer - do so, enjoy! But the idea that a grown adult is unable to order a drink other than beer when in a bar is little ridiculous! My last beer was at age 14. I've never lost a client because I drank a diet coke/JD/wine/not beer when out with them!
