Keto diet - anyone else?

boiled eggs, corn beef slices, avocado, humus pot, cottage cheese pot, babybel. You can keep things basic.
Indeed - it's a complete no brainer. I have a whole kitchen cupboard at home full of stuff I can eat as a snack. Main meals are easy as, as a family, we all eat the same but I have less carbs (depending on what I'm doing)Halb said:

OK talk me through this one, I've been avoiding humus as I assumed it was pretty carb-heavy; are you saying I've been depriving myself unnecessarily and can actually eat this Mojooo said:
I think the biggest problem with keto is that a lot of the foods that are convenient are not keto - certainly on a UK diet.
I suspect that is why so many get lax once they get to a poitnt they are happy with their weight.
Just requires a bit of planning. 20 eggs from Lidl/Iceland less than £2, hard boil, peel, easy snack food. I suspect that is why so many get lax once they get to a poitnt they are happy with their weight.

Not sure why, but I hate boiled eggs Scrambled, fried, omelette, all fine and dandy, but faced with a boiled egg I'd rather eat my own arse. Thankfully nuts & cheese are my snack saviours!
As mentioned before, I pretty much fell off the wagon at xmas and put on a few kg. I didn't really get back into things until April and have since lost 4kg. It's probably been helped by upping my running, and doing longer distances instead of just 5k.
Those "better than noodles" are not bad at all ( https://amzn.to/2YI70Vv ) . Tastes fine (rinse the packet liquid off, as that's got an odd aroma), not a bad texture, only complaint is that I'd prefer it if they were a little thicker, but that's really minor.

These are pretty good as well, had a few packs from Sainsbury's recently and they just take on the taste of whatever you cook them with:

I dont really get those products - there is nothing to them. Be it calories or nutrition...so why not just skip them? People seem unable to have meat and veg on the plate without a dollop of mush to go with it!Barenaked Noodles

I'm quite partial to a plate of spaghetti and meatballs, or chinese noodle dishes. These mean I can still indulge that whim without loading up on carbs, it's not so much the taste as the texture they add to the dish. Most nights I do end up just having meat and veg of some description, but things like these help keep the diet varied and interesting, which in turn makes it far easier to maintain.BigMacDaddy said:

I also get terrible halitosis and start to feel unwell after a week or so.
I now just regularly fast once a week for 48hrs. Final meal around 6.30 on Monday and don't eat anything at all until Wednesday at 6.30.
Only been doing it for a month and I have lost 11lbs, I find it a lot easier the more I do it, kind like your body adapts to it I guess.

Down to 13st 3lb this morning from 15st in Jan! I also adapted the Deirdre Low Carb Loaf with almond flour to make real bread in my bread machine! 1g carb per slice and it's really like good home made bread. I don't miss bread as such, but sandwiches are certainly convenient!
All my clothes fit, although some are now too big. Love it. The jeans I was persuaded to buy for "when you get thin" now fit too. I am way ahead of my hopes. 12st something beckons...

The bad breath thing (if it's not acetonesque in aroma) can be caused by too much protein, which isn't an uncommon mistake a lot of folk do when doing keto.I now just regularly fast once a week for 48hrs. Final meal around 6.30 on Monday and don't eat anything at all until Wednesday at 6.30.

Afternoon all
need to give myself a kick up the backside. I'm not overweight but carrying a few extra kg's which I'd like to shift. Changing jobs, not being able to hit the gym at lunch due to meetings and getting on the p155 far too often has left me feeling less than tip top.
I'm lucky in that I don't have a sweet tooth and am totally happy grazing on meat, eggs and cheese all day. Mrs Novak, however, would happily eat Nutella all day (she's also not overweight - but as I do the cooking (and want to be one of those uber organised people who batch cook on a Sunday night) it'd be helpful to include her to keep me on the straight and narrow).
I guess what I'm asking for is:
Sweet keto recipes for breakfast / dessert
Some quick and easy things to cook which we can take to work. We have a Huel subscription, which is ''ok''.... but not filling, and really carby. So I'll cancel that. It is convenient however - which helps as Mrs Novak is a Doctor who often has to eat as and when she can.
Might knock up a 'meatza' tonight.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but it sounds as if you are doing a bit of keto and a bit of huel and a bit of this and that. That's not really how Keto works, keto is high fat and if you add other diets or treats that have carbs then you will end up with a high fat and carb diet ala 'America' and the weight will fly on.need to give myself a kick up the backside. I may have misunderstood so if so apologies.
You could look at the Myprotein pancake mix with almond milk or Grenade spreads to add to low carb bread. Fat bombs can be very sweet but not really a breakfast thing I guess.

You haven't, Jim. That's exactly how it is and it's why all the various diets fail for people because they're addicted to carbs and just want to 'play' at dieting whilst still boozing at the weekend and having numerous 'cheat' days when the inevitable cravings for carbs come along. Usually they counter it by saying they'll do an extra day down the gym, like that's going to make any difference .I may have misunderstood so if so apologies.
