Thanks both!

Having a look through now. With those websites and Pinterest I should be able to get going easy enough.

We are both meat eaters which should give plenty of options. I just need to make sure I have lunches and snacks prepped so there are no excuses.

Great website recommendations guys, thanks. Meal plan for the first week and tesco shop ordered, along with a few more obscure bits from Amazon.

On a side note, has anyone found any good books for Keto? My mum is interested in giving this a go but gets on better with books than websites etc, and it's becoming hard work me explaining to her!

I didn't really do recipe books. If she wants to read about it, I would start with

The Big Fat Surprise, by Nina Teicholz

Good Calories, Bad Calories, by Gary Taubes

Wheat Belly by William Davis a good read for anyone not sure if they want to keep eating grains. Grain-free living being pretty instrumental to paleo/keto, of course.

Quick question in regards to Full Fat Milk. Are you not meant to drink it on this diet?

There is sugar in milk, so you'll want to "count" that as much as you count things, but it's not banned. I wouldn't drink semi or skimmed though, that removes the healthiest part.

OK cheers for that. I don't really use much milk in the coffee right now so I may plum for the double cream

That's been my sneaky downfall the last few weeks. Working from home my coffee consumption has increased and it's when I realised I was doing more than a litre a day of whole milk in lattes that counting up the carbs meant I was WAY over the daily limit..

Back to double cream in the coffee, and try and keep it down to 3 or 4 a day :/

First week or so back on Keto with thanks to the poster who recommended diet Doctor and keto fitness club for recipes.

I've lost half a stone already, most of which is probably water, but still, I'm fitting in jeans that were very tight a week ago and feeling very alert now the mild keto flu I had has cleared.

Mrs also feeling good although she's been having a bit too much sweetener to help her along really which defeats the point IMO, but that's up to her laugh

Just had fluffy pancakes made from coconut and almond flour for breakfast with some bacon, and feeling great, very full and satisfied.

I'm REALLY missing a sugar in my coffee. I've found that a flat white made with unsweetened almond milk has a slight sweetness too it, or certainly less bitterness than unsweetened coffee usually has, so that's helping.

I'm on about 2/3 cups of coffee a day, so I can do that.

So it's been a week on this Keto diet. Never dieted before in my life and I have kept rigidly to it. Even if I realised after a few days at the beginning that the servings were for two people...

Anyway, weighed myself this morning and I've gone from 128.2kg to 123kg. That's about 11lbs loss in old money. Really impressed!

Well done.

Some of that will be water loss. This is due to the way the body stores glucose with water, which it will be doing less of now. Your body gets better at burning fat over time, and you will get better at portion control too, but there is no rush. As long as it is working, keep doing what you are doing!

Yeah I know it'll be water. But I did this to stop my knee hurting and I'll be honest my knee has been brilliant for the last few days. So I'm going to keep going with it.

P.S: Bulletproof coffee is amazing. Honestly my favourite thing on this diet.

In.

I have been informed that 'we' are going Carb free to get the weight off for a period going forward.
So far Salads and grilled meats with eggs everywhere !
Started on Monday so we will see how it goes (I am the cook in the house, and have not read anything of this new fangled way of life ! )

Hi all
I've made it to day 17 on keto. Lost almost 4.5kg.
I haven't ruined the diet but a few days ago must have eaten about 40-50 grams of carbs (have increased my exercise since)
Now I feel like I'm going through the keto flu again, run down and headache. Is this normal? I'm trying to drink as much water as possible today
Soon I'm going to have a full cheat day with beer and pizza spin

One day at 50g carbs won't set you back to day 0. Just carry on with your new habits and be gentle with yourself. It takes time.

I felt so ill after my last "treat" day I didn't do it again. That was probably four years ago now. Good luck. thumbup

It's actually really easy. If you give Keto a proper go - say three months - and really get used to feeling light and full of energy, then have a blow out meal of pasta and a sugary dessert, then feel dreadful for days after. You just learn to accept that "how I used to feel" wasn't actually all that good and you don't really want it back!

The best pizza substitute I've found is the Fat Head Pizza - cheese and almond flour. Uncertain of the origins but it is here:
