Ok, thanks all for your suggestions!
Tuesday's supermarket shopping is going to be quite different.

I bought a 250gm tub of Mascarpone cheese at the weekend. I've not had it before and it is lovely. It it the most uncheesey substance ever to carry the name cheese.

Not sure if this is specific to Mascarpone, or is just an indication of the current phase of my diet (I'm 5 weeks in), but for the past two days I've had around 50 - 60 gms of Mascarpone with a few crushed nuts (mixed Pecans, Macadamia and Almonds) for pudding after a light lunch and that's it - I'm stuffed and not hungry again until lunchtime the following day.

Thanks!

I started on Monday.
Going well, so far......

Breakfast isn't Weetabix, but eggs with bacon, or ham, or chorizo.....I found the locally available sausages are gluten free, so that's GREAT! FEB due on Sunday, then. smile

Sandwiches are now iceberg lettuce leaf wraps or chicken Caesar salad.

Last night's dinner was a cheeseburger wrapped in a lettuce leaf.

I suspect I will be eating less soon, but I have been training a lot this week, since the gym and swimming pool are open around these parts, and it's early keto days.

First weigh in due on Monday morning.

I wouldn't focus on eating less. The CICO bunch can only see things that way, but your body isn't a simple lever. Eating no carbs means eating more fat and maybe more protein and burning your own body fat but also burning more calories generally. So it's not easy to say whether you should eat more or less, either by weight or calories.

Waistline is a better guide than the scales too, as you will hopefully swap fat for muscle.

The lettuce wrap on a burger is a faff, isn't it! I skip it normally and use a fork.

Not doing the full/strict keto thing, but have lost 12 kilos since last Summer by going low-carb. Finding interesting food for lunchtimes is a bit of a chore. I'm snacking on those 'Fridge Raider' chicken bits for now.

The eat less thing will arrive by itself if you do keto. I find I simply don't need three meals a day or snacks on keto.

These just arrived.. luckily keto friendly haha

I'm lower carb too. My goto lunch food is a salad that I've been happily eating for months. Sliced roast beef, tomatoes, leafy rocket type stuff with balsamiic. Also a tub of guacomole which is something I'd never have eaten a couple of years ago, and the main ingedient is tub of properly seasoned egg mayo. Plenty of fat in there means I don't get hungry at all in the afternoon.

I got some keto sticks recently to test myself, what is the target colour? My OH and I are coming out different.

It should show you on the pack.

Unless you are in ketosis the stick will remain stubbornly at the bottom of the scale. As you enter ketosis, it will start to become a bit pink. I have only personally seen dark pink, not purple or beyond. The darker shades tend to happen after a few weeks of keto, I find.

Good suggestions, although I lack the discipline to make up a salad in the mornings! smile

I occasionally do a sort-of-doughless pizza. Just by melting shredded cheese with some ham + sun-dried tomatoes under the grill and then letting it all resolidify and cutting into 'biscuits' to eat cold. Needs to be good cheese though, or it's foul.

Sorry to explain, the darker the better?

Within reason. No change means no ketones, but that's in the urine. Exercise can make you burn the ketones so you get less in the urine. Very dark can mean you are dehydrated.

Some change is a good sign. Over analyzing probably not worthwhile.

Can you do fatdough in a pizza oven - or will it stick to the floor?

Crikey - that's the size of your normal portions!!! As well as going low-carb I'm eating about 1/2 of that amount for dinner. I'd never lose weight otherwise.

Maybe that's a birthday treat and an exception? And Happy Birthday. smile

I eat once a day so although this is a large portion it's ok.

The cheesecake is homemade and keto friendly.

Anyone found any edible substitutes? Cauliflower rice is not one of them, but we had some Soyabean spaghetti last night which was ok though. Once it was plastered in mince with home made bol sauce it was a decent meal.
