SOmething I didn't know after a quick look, but the ethylene released ripens other fruits proximate too.

"Cancer Impact
A Japanese study published in a 2009 issue of "Food Science and Technology Research" determined that the brown spots on bananas produce a substance called Tumor Necrosis Factor, which breaks down abnormal cells -- including those that cause cancer. Brown bananas can't cure cancer, but consuming them might boost your immune function."

Have you ever had tests for your blood and the like?I just like the HCLF diet, big gorgeous meals of pasta/rice/bread, lots of sweet sauces and vegetables. I'm not Vegan (don't like labels), but I do see the logic in what the Vegan HCLF diet promotes.

I have some labels to take to the walk in centre, not sure what they'll give me, been meaning to go for yonks.I just like the HCLF diet, big gorgeous meals of pasta/rice/bread, lots of sweet sauces and vegetables. I'm not vegan, but I think that's best for long term life. I am keen on reading about pretty much anything though, I'm not dogmatic in beliefs , but prefer reading the data.
Best way is personal experimentation, but that takes time.

Have you watched or read the "wheatbelly" books/presentations? There will always be two sides to this debate, I have gone hclf because it logically makes sense to me, and I feel very unrestricted in my diet choices.
The keto diet in comparison looks very restricted, tip toeing through the day, avoiding carbs.
If fruit and veg are good for you, and they are also pretty much pure carbs, then I would prefer to attempt to lose weight this way.
I also have issues with acid indigestion, which has completely disappeared on a hclf diet. I'm talking struggling to sleep due to a weak oesophagus, to forgetting I used to have the issue. This alone makes me question how much meat/fat I ever want to eat again
I'm 22 pounds down this year, including glorious cheat days with wine and good food.

So why are you posting on the Keto thread? Or even reading it?As I remember you popped up in the "365 days without alcohol" thread too, espousing the benefits of wine.
What's the angle?

Have I said anything that offends you in particular?
I find this thread very interesting. I also find the 365 day wo alcohol thread interesting.
Haven't been on the alcohol thread for ages, and I have only had wine on a handful of days this year.

After having consumed no animal products for pretty much two years I felt and looked great. I was more vegan than most vegans, in that I ate pretty much zero processed food - unlike most of the card carrying,full-on vegans who seem to survive on biscuits and pop, so long as it's labelled vegan.
To put a label on my current diet, I'm back to pretty much paleo/keto with a touch of IF thrown in for good measure. Still eat quite a lot of veggies, though very much the leafy/cruciferous kinds rather than spuds and beans.
That's two pretty much opposing ends of the spectrum and both suit me pretty well.
Still feel great, and coming up to 56 that's not to be sniffed at. Many of my peers/friends/colleagues are beginning to show signs of wear and tear now.

I think the most important thing is ditching the junk and consuming whole foods.

I think you're a great example of someone very much in control of their diet, and have proven that both ends of the diet spectrum have a legitimate case After having consumed no animal products for pretty much two years I felt and looked great. Ignore the tomatoes - I didn't know they were gonna be there. Otherwise Harvester 7oz gammon steak with a second gammon steak and 3 eggs. Cancelled the chips and onion rings.
Did you always eat 3 eggs, two steaks and no veggies ? Not sure the tomato (3g carb) is the issue here ATM said:
I'm only eating 2 meals a day now but they're big.
Interesting. I generally have breakfast every other day, a small lunch, then a reasonable dinner. I don't really snack. The only time I'm yearning for something naughty is after a run (usually at 9pm) so I usually just have a bit of cheese! Or a creamy coffee.

The good news is I now see junk getting offered around at the office - birthdays every day etc - and feel very little interest in eating it. I am still sleeping lightly but feel rested. I occasionally snack on nuts but not very often. I still eat out a lot but just go for steak or burgers without the bun and I dont eat the salad or garnish or anything else.
