OMG NO GRAINS!

Why don’t you eat a healthy varied diet of refined carbohydrates?! Madness!

To be fair some green, leafy vegetables would go nicely on the side.

Haha. Love a bit of cross-thread politics.

Can’t be arsed to get into a sniping contest. Whatever works for each individual.

But you should be aware that the keto diet is not just plates of meat. It’s all the things you eat, minus the bits that cause your blood to fill with insulin.

It's all good fun biggrin

I've done almost every kind of diet there is at some point or other, I know the ins and outs of nutrition better than most, and I've practical experience (for me) of what works. Keto works great, but, there are other ways that are less restrictive that work just as well.

Calories in and out etc. and seemingly not knowing how insulin works, tells me you’re probably not that much of an expert, but that’s just an opinion wink

In summary, the “common sense” diet gave me (allowed me to get) diabetes, and the nasty, vilified heart attack keto diet is currently fixing it, with blood work that shows I’m as fit as a fiddle and should lead a long and healthy life.

To each his own. Live long and prosper smile

Smoked haddock omelette with parmesan, spinach and asparagus last night. It was awesome.

Even a lunchtime trip to yo sushi wasnt too bad today.

I sneaked my first beer yesterday - a pint of coors light. 6g of carbs. It's st beer but it was cold and i was sitting in a warm sunny beer garden. We'll soon see what effect it had!

I was in the dentist's this morning to get a broken tooth sorted that I did last night on a bit of carvery pork crackling. All sorted and when I told the receptionist it was pork crackling but that I'm low carbing so definitely healthy food, she immediately came back with - then you need the fat!

So nice to be understood. My dentist is a big fan of Weston A. Price, so I have good chats about nutrition whenever I see her. To be fair, one of the nurses at my GP surgery is currently up for an award, (Royal College of Nursing, Patients' Choice) having been nominated for her low carb work with diabetes patients. She doesn't blink when I say I prefer to be very low carb aiming for ketosis and she has a shelf full of low carb and fasting books. smile

I wish I could shout “KEEEEETOOOSIS!!!” from the rooftops with regards to diabetes treatment. It really is the miracle ‘cure’. Spend your whole life deprived, reading labels, negotiating with carbohydrates 24/7 or sack the lot off and throw some bacon chicken and cheese in a frying pan? Tough call..

I know how insulin works, I use it to my advantage post training. I know how diets work- how the body reacts, why it reacts and when it reacts, to various dietary factors. I'd not argue, or suggest things, I know nothing about- I'd also warrant that I know more than you do on the subject, but i'll not argue the point.

Now, as you know yourself, your 'common sense' diet wasn't a healthy one- it was probably high in sugar, booze, junk- hence why it almost killed you. wink I'll just call that a hunch.

So what sort of blood work is done, that will indicate that you should lead a long and healthy life, and also fit as a fiddle - what does that mean? You can tie your shoelaces without getting knackered, or you can ride 200km on your bicycle?

Yep, didnt have any. Just fish and meat. Salmon, beef, squid. Peppered Cauliflower. Worst thing would have been some prawn katsu - some breadcrumbs but still not too bad according to myfitnesspal.

Tell yousomething else about a keto diet. My farting has reduced considerably - in frequency, volume and general stench hehe

4 burgers with cheese and nothing else ! Why do people think a healthy Keto diet involves piling your plate high with meat, its replacing one type of unhealthy behaviour with another

This is the kind of stuff I eat, this was last week.

3 sausages from my local butchers so I know what's in them, broccoli, samphire, purple sprouting and asparagus as its in season

Last night was 2 Pork chops , Brussel sprouts, Samphire, Asparagus and purple sprouting

Tonight its 2 lamb chops , Broccoli, Spinach, Samphire and Asparagus

Most of my plate is veggies or salad

Pork scratchings cost me a packet too, and resulted in a £400 crown when I broke a tooth on one

As I said, not interested in sniping for internet points. Fit as a fiddle means all my markers, blood pressure, cholesterol...everything, is perfectly normal. For a diabetic, and someone on the killer keto diet, I’d say that’s a fairly good indication that it works for me. Go argue with someone else if you disagree biggrin
