@OP - how are you doing with this? I've not been able to read 136 pages but i need to consider this.

I stopped drinking in 2019 after a really close call but on doing so i realised that came with a cold turkey approach to sugar and it's not going well. I'm now 18st, heaviest i've ever been and even when i was boozing so now is the time.

Did the question of "a beginners guide to keto" ever get found in this thread or can anyone who's on the journey able to help me out? I'm impatient to boot so not a great combo. Ideally i need something that says have THIS for breakfast, THIS for Lunch, THIS for dinner and get used to it.

I welcome any help please, team!

Sugar? Tick. It was harder to quit than the alcohol or the fags!

This is a decent resource for keto, with a pre-made 14 day diet plan. You don't have to join (i.e. pay)
https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/keto/diet-plan

If you want to stay off the sugar, don't skimp on the cream. Make sure you eat until you are full. Then you won't crave the snacks.

Good luck. thumbup

Thanks mate. Looks like my food bills are going to increase. I’m the only one in the house that will be doing this so that in itself will make it a bit harder.

I’ve actually found the opposite. It’s all the junk extras like crisps, chocolate, bread, cakes and other snacks, even condiments, that mount up the food bill. I’ve found buying non refined foods (meat and dairy) has dramatically reduced my food bill. Obviously you’ll still be buying for the family but if you’re not eating them you’ll buy less as the weeks pass. Good luck.

For the past week I’ve mostly been making a Peanut Butter Satay style sauce. Decent spoonful of PB, some Soy Sauce, White Wine Vinegar, Garlic, Chilli, Curry Powder, and basically stuff in the cupboard with a drop of water blended in a pan over heat. Then throwing in left over Chicken and serving with (or without) Konjac Rice. It’s been filling and warming on the colder nights.
