I keep getting a really painful right foot, mainly on the right hand side, on the ball of my foot behind the little toe, struggle to put any weight on it or put a show on, Ibuprofen and ice help it, if it comes on it can be a few days of hobbling round. Sometimes throbs and can get a sharp pain, usually when trying to get to sleep.

Had an X Ray this morning and its not a stress fracture, doctor "cant see anything clinical" as he put it, there are literally no external signs, it is apparently not Gout. Doctor said on the Xray form "no signs of Mortons Neuroma".

One trigger seem to be air travel, not that I do much but went on holiday, only a four hour flight and it got sore, not had it for ages really before, went to Boston with work in Feb 2016 and it came on, then nothing until recently and its been on and off, was bad this morning and though I can still feel it now, can walk normally. I have been doing some running in the gym and it was ok after that, then the next visit went mad racing round against my 20 year old son and it was bad the following day.

I cant put my finger on stuff that causes it 100 percent, sometimes cycling, maybe over tightening my cycling shoes, I though maybe being overweight wasnt helping so have lost quite a bit, now 210 pounds, sometimes I can do stuff I think will trigger it and nothing, sometimes, like today it was full on, then just subsided.

Am in fairly good health, only meds I am on is for low Thyroid.

Any ideas ?

I have been getting this recently, but is due to running.

Its from where I run and the outside of my foot lands first.

have your shoes worn down?

I'm planning to go to a proper running shop where they 'map' your feet and recommend you trainers to balance the foot out.

Pretty sure there are some technical terms for the above but you get my point!

As a matter of interest, how do you know that it's not gout?
