I'll also be signing up again in the new year. I don't dare step on the scales just now though as due to work and the crappy weather we've had I've not exercised in a week. Hopefully I'll get to the gym today but only if more of the ice goes in the next couple of hours. It's treacherous out there and not worth the risk

I'll be back in the new year, for now I'm just going to try to avoid gaining too much. I'm finding it difficult to avoid sugar right now, so I am just concentrating on dealing with that.

After about four weeks hovering around 87.0kg with a ‘Keto stall’ I’ve managed to weigh in at 85.1kg as of this morning. It’s literally dropped 1.5kg in two days, although from what I’ve read this can be normal with the Keto diet.

Surprised actually as I must’ve eaten about 4lbs of sausage in Munich yesterday, although I’ve really kept the carbs down recently.

75.4 kg this morning. Still above starting but moving in the right direction. If only it wasn't the work lunch today at a pie-making pub...

Thanks! I haven’t had a single ‘cheat’ day since I started over 3 months ago, partly because the visible weight loss keeps me motivated and partly because generally I can eat everything I like on the Keto diet anyway. I do REALLY miss beer though! A lot!

I now believe ‘calories in, calories out’ to be flawed as I’m easily eating 2000 - 2500 a day and by that theory there’s no way I could’ve lost 16kg in three months. There are many factors though, my alcohol consumption is next to nothing now and I don’t snack. Sugar has to be the biggest player in all of this, though - evil stuff!

Edit: What I also find interesting is that I’m now a similar weight to what I was 3-4 years ago and as such should have a whole new wardrobe of clothes available to me. Except I don’t.

Last time I got down to this weight I did it with the ‘low fat, high carb, calories in/calories out’ diet. I also religiously went on the cross trainer and did the Insanity workout for a year. All my old shirts are loose around the belly and trousers loose around the waist but almost nothing fits around my shoulders or thighs. My theory is that I’ve retained a lot more muscle doing the Keto diet combined with 3x weights sessions a week than I did with the old fashioned way.

As you can tell, I’m a big fan!

Oh, and BP is down from 125/75 to 111/64, although clearly this could be simply down to the weight loss.

I simplistically think abut usable calories and junk calories. 2,500 usable calories get, er, used, whereas 2,500 beer or sweet based calories don't, they get stored. And you feel like st. And hungry. By eating only good stuff, burning off more than you can eat and not putting junk in, I believe your body starts to use its energy stores the way it's supposed to, hence the weight loss.

I also found I help a fair bit of "water weight" when I drank beer. Again, I simplistically put this down to the body holding on to water to help avoid severe dehydration. Don't stress the body with alcohol and it lets some of it's reserves go as it's not expecting a shock. I'm a great believer in the body being a very intelligent regulator.

Stuck at 98.4 but not too bad considering Xmas. Got myself a gig in London starting Jan so commuting/living away/doing more walking will have challenges and benefits.

Not weighted myself, been to the gym quite a bit but feel fatter and really need to stop eating crap and drinking, Q1 2018 will see my down to 14 stone, will weight myself early Jan after a couple of days to stabilise and then that is my starting weight, no booze until I hit 14.

New bike light incoming as that is what stopped me using my bike really, battery screwed so back on that worth a few hundred calories a day, batter the gym, walk the dog, limit calories and get on with it.

Sick of booze and food now biggrin

Fairly happy with the year overall. Exactly 2 stone down to the day last year (16 to 14)

Another one to go in 2018 which should be doable.

Good luck all.

Been atrocious with this, I started with good intentions and got no where, hence why I've not posted at all regarding any weight loss.

Every year I do dry January and I will be doing it again this year, alcohol is my downfall and I know when I stop, I do lose weight, so if there is a Q1 2018 weight loss topic, I will be in.

I'll start a 1Q 2018 thread later in the week, unless any one else wants to do it.

At a bit of a low ebb at the moment - injured my hand last week and it's been affecting me physically and mentally.

Weighed myself today, 15 st 9 biggrin

Suspect that will drop pretty rapidly but can really feel that extra weight, was walking the dog and am aware of my belly. Off to the gym in a bit, out tonight but driving, out tomorrow for a last blowout and then its rations time until I get to my target of 14 st.

Still not dared to step on the scales as the good behaviour went by the wayside over the holiday period and my clothes are definitely a little tight right now.

I slipped on ice last weekend and managed to injure my shoulder so have given the gym a miss while that healed. That's now better (and the ice has finally melted) but I've gone down with my annual cold that's spread to my chest so absolutely nothing but gentle walking for me until that clears. However, as I now have no appetite it should be easier to get back on track...I hope....But it was quite scary how easy it was to slip back in to my old, bad habits.

Hi,

Keen to get involved in Q1. Got on the scales this morning. 120kg! not impressed. I knew I had put on but that is crazy. Up there with the heaviest i've been.

Lost weight in the past and just put it back on again. Been trying figure out why and always come back to the same answer. Will power only lasts so long. I try things that are just not sustainable. Need to create habits bit by bit and build on them.

Not really sure what target im going to set for the year. 90kg is the lowest ive been in the last 10 years so maybe that. Seems a tall order though!

Thoughts?
