My doctor surgery always seems to be rushed, feel and can afford the works, just approaching 60 so what’s the best ?

I don't even know what question you're asking.

My best guess is they mean they'll be offered bowel cancer screening as they turn 60 and would like advice on which test they should go for, whether NHS or private. I know nothing about it really though.

I've had a CT Scan of the bowel and a Colonoscopy, neither for cancer but the CT makes you feel like you've had a small accident during the exam, the Colonoscopy is not so pleasant. The laxatives are horrific, when they pump you with gas your already aching stomach kills and your dignity is non existent. Oh and my behind didn't heal properly thanks to the many toilet visits for a very long time (months).

whilst these procedures are not pleasant , i have undergone them several times. my opinion is that i hope they might find someting wrong with me. then i might get the treatment to resolve the issues that i have.
unfortunately this has not happened in my case , but worth the hassle

I found taking the laxative (2x2 litre doses) was worse than the actual procedure of having a tv camera shoved where the sun certainly don't shine. At least you get to see the live feed!

Obviously a CT scan can't take samples of material for analysis as with a Colonoscopy where they "snare" polyps and cut em off (painlessly) for examination. Mine were OK but they already knew about the lumpy bit on my Prostate....

I actually do the CT colons. They're not pleasant but I'd have one. 2 days prep, procedure takes 20 mins, and providing you can hold onto the gas you can see the bowel pretty clearly as well as all the other organs around it (liver, gall bladder, spleen, kidneys, bladder, stomach).

Just beware CT scans are incredibly sensitive now and you're potentially opening yourself up to followups of every tiny nodule and polyp they find. If there was nothing wrong with me I'd rather not know, personally!

I'll agree the actual camera (I couldn't use the gas and air for allergy reasons) insertion and snaring was fine, the prep was the horrific part. I didn't have any laxatives prior to my CT but I was already empty as such due to illness.
