Have been focusing on aerobic training recently, but starting to transition to some higher rate. This was 8000m at rate 20 with 30 strokes at race pace every 1500m, except the last where I kept it going for 1000m-ish to get my average split below 1:50.
I can probably hold that for 1,000 metres. biggrin

Still really unwell but decided to hit a cheeky short home workout. Not strong enough for anything very heavy or full body.

DB bench press: 5 x 40kg
DB rows: 8 x 40kg
DB press: 10 x 20kg

Left me panting and sweating like a pig. Probably not the best idea ever.

Well yesterday was light front squat 8s, ligjt reverse lunge 8s and deadlifts up to the 210kg 5s I should have done Monday. No problem, but my back was sore all tuesday and still a bit on wednesday so I think my body was telling me to ease off on monday. Finsihed with some leg extensions.

I survived the workout yesterday so did some squats today.

Squats: 8 x 100kg; 5 x 110kg; 3 x 120kg
I knocked 10kg off each set and it was still tough.
Neutral chins: 8, 5 + 12.5kg
Rows:
8 x 20,25,30kg
12 x 40kg (barely)

Not bad given I’m still recovering and feel weak. I expect the two weeks off will actually have been good for me once I’m fully well again.

Seriously hurt my self this morning- 250kg squat snapped something in my glute- a very loud and painful snap.

Trip to a&e, got to wait to see if it bruises up.

Can’t walk now, it’s unpleasant biggrin

Vid on my instagram if you’re not squeamish, you hear a snap.....

Thanks smile

Ive never had something like this before- somethings snapped I’m pretty sure. The noise freaked me out! Waiting game now I suppose. Never heard of a detached/snapped glute before!

It would be worth seeing if you can get a sports physician to scan it for you early (USS). Probably only available privately but if you don't want to go private I would ask your GP to get you in with a decent orthopod in fracture clinic (even though it is not a fracture) within 10 days.

I have private through work, so will look into it, thanks.

Pretty sure it’s a hamstring problem now, at the top, the pain is more obvious, a bit of bruising and swelling present now. Every thing points to a grade 2 or 3 tear frown

It’s very sore, and can bare zero weight now.

I’ll see if I’ve gone black and blue tomorrow and take it from there- mother in law has some crutches fortunately, so that’s a plus.

I would have guessed at ham, that snap made me ill, and reminded me of mine.
We push ourselves, it's what we do. biggrin

Sorry to read that didely, that must have been very painful! Hope you make a swift recovery.

Today:

Squats - 9x12-1 rep (up to 170kg)
Bench Press - 8x12-1 rep (up to 147.5kg, a new PR)
BB Clean and Press - 6x5-1 rep (Up to 90kg)
Wide Grip Pull Up - 4x12-8 reps
Deadlift - 5x5-1 rep (only up to 170, lower back still sore so didn't push it any further)
Pendlay Row - 5x5 (up to 125kg)
Seated Pulley Row (Wide Grip) - 4x12-8 reps

That's it, a week off now...

One of the things that stops me getting angry is thinking, 'well I've still got my deads.'

Sorry to hear that, DD.

Absolutely essential to give a hamstring time - horrible muscle group for repeat injury if you’re not careful. I’m sure you’ll be well looked after & back as strong as ever.

Thank you all.

I’m already bored! I’m not one for staying still...... I’m off work until the third anyway, so it’s going to be a slow festive season! Soon as I can walk I’ll start upper body work.
