I watched the full video and he was (his usual terse self) with anyone who arched their back rather than thrust their hips. But there's no snap back; the weight is being thrust upwards by the hips hitting/bouncing against their furthest point forwards. He repeated that the core has to have the back locked and the stress on the hips should be felt through the hamstrings and down to the feet.

And I could certainly feel all those triggers as I practised along with the video (without a bar, but with my liquorice allsorts biggrin )
of you can do it, it's great

Tried breaking at the hips more and definitely moved quicker!
Handy having you lot to help point out stuff I miss biggrin

Deadlifts were horrible, hit 7@240kg but was fatigued from this week over doing it.
I know what needs to be done though to prevent that smile

Cool. Are you doing 5/3/1? Those look like end of cycle AMRAP sets to me.
Your ratios are unusual - OHP very close to bench and squat very close to deadlift. Your OHP is way better than bench.

Yes, 5/3/1. A 3 day today.
Had a long gap just doing deads and squats as had shoulder impingement, so cautiously building up ohp and bench. Bench seems most provocative.
Once the weight comes up a bit I will give each main lift a day and add some accessories, and obviously slow the progress.

Big day today.

Squats: 3 x 5 @ 130kg (PR)
3rd set was horrible. Barely got the 4th rep but took 3 breaths and channeled DD to get the 5th. It is now getting hard to keep my knees out.

RDL:
2 x 8 @ 87.5kg

Press ups (+15kg): 20, 18, 16
Pull ups: 5,9,10,9,5

I am pleased as punch with the squats. A short deload at the end of this week and then back in at 132.5kg.

Good leg workout last night, up to 3x8 at 132.5kg for squats plus various hamstring & glute work.

But my knees, in particular my right one, are starting to hurt after squatting, especially when I go to stand up or sit down i.e. put pressure through them. Does anyone have any ideas what might be up?

Great work! I'm not doctor but sounds like patella tendonitis (give it a google).

I had a great session last night. Proper hard work!

Deadlifts - built to a 5rm for the day. sets of 80, 100, 120, 140, 160 x 5)

The workout was

6 minutes - 3 Kettle bell swings (24kg) + 3 burpees ascending in 3s. Managed to finish the round of 18 kbs and 18 burpees.

2 mins rest

6 minutes - max distance on the rower. Got 1489m (bit disapointed but im only little and i was knackered)

2 mins rest

6 minutes AMRAP - 10 toes to bar + 10 push ups. Managed 6 rounds. Pretty pleased with that one.

Feeling it this morning!! Not had DOMs in ages!

He also mentions that he’s juicing (maybe even more than in his prime). I genuinely think there’s almost nothing to be taken from the training successes of people who are artificially supplementing their testosterone. We just don’t know how much, if at all, something that works for a juicer will work for someone not juicing.

There are plenty of muscular bodybuilders that have never gone through a novice progression, let alone lifted very heavy, yet they have levels of hypertrophy that you or I would need to be hitting DD’s numbers to reach!

Inclined to agree with the broad sentiment of that.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say that I’d disregard out of hand, the advice of a known juicer, because he or she could just as easily tailor their advice for non-assisted folk – if we are to assume the individual has a high degree of knowledge, experience and understanding.

However, if an assisted lifter is basically saying “do what I do” them yeah, I’d file that advice in the bin, most of the time.

Interestingly, I’m actually seeing first-hand, what tren can do to someone who is already pretty strong.  Couple of guys I know are now on tren, and the numbers are just FLYING up.  Staggering rate of progress.

The anecdotal stuff is pretty astounding. I read the other day a post by a guy that had plateaued after his novice progression (for around a year) at my kind of numbers - 150kg squat / 120 bench / 180 deadlift. He added something like 30/20/40kg in a few short months into his first cycle. A good way of explaining it (which I have seen users say a few times) is that it is like being a novice again - everything works, and a good programme will allow you to make gains at the kind of rate that a novice can (even going back through linear progression if you want).

I am with DD on most of the "Do this because it works for me" kind of advice. All you can really say is that lifting bloody hard and (probably) quite heavy, sleeping a lot and eating a lot will probably work quite well. All else is details and will be better or worse from one person to another. We all have quite different responses to training and abilities to train hard. My own experience is that I never even knew what a hard squat felt like until the last year, and now progress is very tough for me when it comes to squats, whereas I think I could do pretty much any benching programme and see results, despite having long arms and a small chest. I also barely respond at all to training pull ups (whether with bodyweight and lots of volume or weighted and less volume or even both). It is all bloody complex.

Those who contributed on overhead form, thanks for the tips!
Definitely paying off biggrin
110kg beltless clean and press, press went up way quicker than expected!

What DD says above too, do what works for you.
I'm doing exactly that and training is going so well at the moment, even on a cut.
I expect to hit barriers soon but that's part of the learning process.

I've been wiped out for the past few days with some kind of head cold that felt like my head would pop and made me fall asleep all the time..... I didn't die though, but felt like I may biggrin

Today was push day, but I did pull by mistake, so push will have to be Friday now...

BB row: 242.5kg x 5, 195x 15, 15
Wide Pull downs: 1 x RPF, 1 x half weight to F
DB preachers: 1x RPF
DB Hammers: triple drop set.

Still not firing on all cylinders, as the rows completely wiped me out. But.... they were heavy as fk, and PB's, so i'm happy enough with that I suppose. (Vids of rows on my page, can't get the link today for some reason.....?)

Am heavily in sleep deficit (thanks, son!) and suffering from hay fever so wasn't expecting much today.
Deadlift
Bar x 20
70kg x 8
120kg x 3
170kg x 1
200 x 0 (3 failed pulls)
190 x 1
195 x 0 (couldn't lock out)

Might head back this evening for some benching. Not great timing, but I get so few opportunities to get to the gym that I've got to seize them when I can!

Back on he circuits, kept the weights nice and light (dl 140 etc), so it pushed my lungs, but wasn't over taxing, 60 mins and done.
do know the glutes felt the lunges though
