Yeah! OHP at 87.5 is strong!

I did some presses, jerks and push presses and cleans today. By the time I got to the last push press (100kg) I was pretty tired.
Try to keep to 6 singles for each, as it's more of a movement thing. I can't OHP 87.5 biggrin

Thanks, I have been doing Clean and Press for a few years now, rather than just OHP. Very exhausting, but I believe they are better overall than just OHP.

I was when I was doing 85kg C&P for reps last year that I passed out, waking up with my head wedged in the grill of my car! lol

MC. Needing your cycling expertise please. Peloton bikes. My wife wants one because her boss has one. She doesn’t cycle. She likes keeping fit and likes the idea of a good exercise bike with a screen which can connect to WiFi and look up YouTube cycle videos/programmes etc. Surely there is something out there which doesn’t involve 2k and a subscription. Tia
Take it from someone who knows. Peloton hype is currently driven by marketing + celebrity endorsements. The reason you are hearing so much about it right now is the $500m in Venture funding they got late last year. They also have an IPO planned for later in 2019. It has suddenly exploded out of nowhere which isn't necessarily a good thing.

I did some research on Peloton when I first started hearing about them. This is a really good write up by someone using the app but not the bike.
https://www.sippingandshopping.org/peloton-6-month...

The subscription is for the classes within the app. But as it's just an app you can use it on any bike as it's on your phone. The lady in the review above has it hooked up to a large tv.

Of course, if you want the full experience, the bike, the screen, the app etc... get the Peloton but if you want the classes and need to achieve it on a budget that IS possible. A cheaper Peloton competitor is Echelon. Not done too much research but they're usually the main one people compare with. If she wants a more rounded training app that isn't just bike there's always Les Mills.
precisely what i told her. Im not blowing that sort of coin on something which is no different to the 5 min abs infomercial. Yep will take a look at Les Mills and get a spin bike. Marcus-whats a good bike. nothing too professional but good quality and when she gets sick of it in 12 months it has a brand so i can get some of my money back smile
Anything from Planet X, or Decathlon, good bikes that won't break the bank.
cheers smile

I'll gorilla tape an iPad to it

Yeah, I always feel and press stronger when I clean first, and a clean for a press won't press me so I don't mind adding it in. I clean and then press 90% of the time if I wanna do OHP. I could probably squeeze out 75kg now! biggrin

Really? You can push press 100kg can't strict OHP 87.5kg?

I'm not doubting you, per-se, but that sounds a bit off to me. Is your strict OHP suffering from the legacy of your tear?

It's possible, but also, as I think said before, I've stayed away from any real sort of strength building program for years. Sticking to WODs and circuits that keep my intensity high, but don't push the weight. A lot of these had push press both BB and DB, circuits with 34 DB and I think no more than 80ush for BB. Cleans felt weird for a long time...I think I am getting over that mental barrier, my cleans went up to 105 today, it felt tight, but good. I also (because of the bloody heat) was wearing a vest tonight and it's the first time I've seen how the tendon moves when I clean. Looks weird, but it feels OK, so...OK! Now I've added BB bench back in a regular strength/size building program, I'm gonna add OHP once my 10k is done.

There was about 40kg difference between my strict and push press pre injury, probably about the same now but haven't tested it.

About 20kg between mine.

Pull day>
Tbar- 8 plates x 6, 7 x 13
Rack chins: 2 x RPF
Cg Chins: 1x RPF
Wide pull downs: 1x F
DB preacher: 1x RPF
DB hammers: 3x F

Pretty decent!

I never train the push press these days but have, even just messing about, always been able to add about 15kg over my strict press. But my strict press is garbage (about 90% of bodyweight).

Legs! >

Lever squat: 9 plates a side x 8 reps (1 rep PB)
Smith Glute Bridges: 220kg x 8 (1 rep PB)
Leg press (wide stance): 420kg x 22 (last 2 RP)
Leg curl: 5x F (30 sec rest)
Leg ext: 5x F (30 sec rest)

My current split has less volume than ever, but it allows me to put in more effort than ever- it's actually kicking my ass.... constantly sore, had to up calories too. It also has me hitting rep & weight PB's almost every session- I know exactly what I have to beat each session, so it's a case of dig in and do it. Feeling pretty good (other than the aches biggrin)

You’re a maniac.

Deadlift session last night:

Deads: 155kg x 5 (that ties a rep PR, which I am pleased with given that I am still suffering with my quad)
KB OHP: 24kg x 18 (rep PR) I need a heavier KB. It’s a bizarre lift. 10 reps feels hard but I have 6-8 left at that point.
Pull ups: 8,10,12.

Triceps, curls, abs and back extensions.

Two interesting observations on my recent training.

(1) I’ve been doing some weighted and unweighted crunches. This is different because I only ever do ab roll outs and other anti-flexion or anti-rotation exercises. My abs feel much stronger for doing old-fashioned exercises.

(2) I had a crack at a Dan John test - hang from the bar for 30 seconds and then do a pull up. The pull up felt very strong and smooth. Maybe a good thing to add and work up to doing a few reps with 30 second hangs in between. Nothing works for my pull ups, so maybe this silly thing will.

Strict = 67.5
Push = 100
Jerk = 110

Quite a big difference for me!

in any way supposed to be an obvious joke?

There's was absolutely no need for you to say that and I'm pretty sure anyone else reading will agree.
