I was there with my friend attempting the UK dumbbell record but they didn't show it.
125kg I think it was, Big Z was just about to give him the down command when his left knee dislocated. Very unfortunate as I prepped him for this and he got it up very easily.

However, I'm hoping to qualify next year.
Now I'm pretty much injury free, it's just going back on a maintenance/bulk with the coach I used last year and see what happens.

Annoying as I can do the events, just had something hold me back each time.
My coach is hoping to qualify next year too, only missed by couple of points this year.

Really buggered up my elbow a few weeks ago, extreme pain and tenderness round the outside. Some kind of extreme tendinitis? Cannot press or extend but kinda OK with lighter pull exercises and lat raises. Thinking about 6 weeks or so of cardio and light weights.

Luke Davies, he's normally competing at U105 but entered Wales opens and came 4th.
He's going to compete at opens level this year.

Luke has a huge deadlift!

Back to training after 6 days off, pretty good- retainer my leanness, just filled up a bit. Decent start point as I get serious in the new year diet wise.

Gona get ripppppeeeedddddddd biggrin

Yep, I've seen him pull a 380 speed rep! Most at uk's struggled with that, in opens he should be a monster.

Ivw not trained properly all December, back to it in a few days.

No comps planned as of yet, just want to enjoy training for the moment.

Ah!
His Mrs is insanely strong!

Be interesting to see how he does in opens, I always said him at 120kg would see some damage!

If we assume something approximate to linear progression, a 120kg Luke Davies will be VERY interesting.

He's usually sat about 110-115 iirc so a relaxed 120 should allow him to be 100% on comp day with no weight cuts.

Back to the gym after a week off, have ate crap and drank too much. Am ill with cold and still dealing with an annoying shoulder injury. So perfect time to go for a heavy bench idea Managed a 100kg 1 rep. Tried for rep 2 and the missus saved me from being decapitated biggrin.

Went to the gym on Friday night, not for a PPL session, more what I think of as an in-between 'freestyle' session. Stuff was awkward and tiring...two/three days of eating ste may have had an effect, or I wasn't buoyed up for a 'real' session. It was disconcerting. Parkrun and then another free session today. Working out some stiffness in my lower back.

Hi all, im Just looking for a bit of advice. If you were unable to deadlift, would hyperextensions/ back extensions be a worthy alternative? Thanks.

My first instinct is to ask why you are unable to deadlift.

Robert Oberst on his infamous 'deadlifts are bad' Joe Rogan episode, gave his alternatives. Can't remember what they were, so listen or find the transcript.

I was watching the WSM this week and Oberst came on in a deadlift event and the commentator was, (paraphrase) 'This is not Oberst's event as he's not very good at them.' And I recalled his statement. biggrin

Thanks for the replies guys. I cant deadlift because I train at home and have no access to a barbell and weights. I train with gymnastic rings and Kettlebells. Apart from doing swings for conditioning, I have no other way of training a hip hinge movement and was thinking about buying a hyperextension bench to do so. I dont want to buy a barbell and plates just for deadlifts as I have no where to store them.

Aye, KB swings, hypers and poss RDLs if you buy a couple of DB handles and some plates for them? They'll take up less space than a barbell and plates.
