105kg 3x4 strict press PB comfortably tonight.
Was meant to do 3x8 neutral grip dumbbell bench press with a new PB of 60kgs but felt a twinge on first set so left it.
Still the heaviest I've been on dumbbells since surgery a couple years back.

All going well smile

Yep I train with Rhi a lot, she isnt human!!
Do you train out of Kaos? Keep meaning to get up there and do one of hers and Luke's deadlift seminars but it's getting the time and money together.

Managed to hit the 160kg bench lastnight for a new PB with backoffs of 3x3 at 135kg.

Loving training at the minute with everything going so well, just hoping this stupid tickly throat doesn’t cause any issues with squats tonight as it’s a distraction I don’t need.

Just gone back through the post history and great to see everyone doing so well and that Halb and didelydoo and still going strong, thankyou for the follow as well Smiffy on Instagram.

We've been here sometime, hey. biggrin

It's good to look back and see how we've chewed the fat and helped each other.

A bit of progress.
First video is 205kg on the 11th January 2019, i failed 210 straight after this so 205 was a true max for me at the time.
Second video is 242.5kg on the 11th January 2020, i successfully did 250kg just after which moved just as well. Goal is to do 255 this week with having a shot at 260kg all going well just after.

A 45kg+ increase in my max deadlift over the space of 1 year and a massive improvement in technique, much smoother off the ground and not try to jerk it up. Expectations for this year are to see how close i can get to 300kg.

In same time period, i've gone from a 130kg Squat to 192.5kg, with a look at attempting 200kg this week and i've gone from 140kg bench to 155kg, with the look at doing either 157.5 or 160kg this week as well. I'm also signed up for my second powerliftering meet, first federation meet, at the end of March with the BPU and hoping to have jumped at minimum over 100kg on my total in a year between my first meet to my second meet.
Really impressive progress. And a great squat too!

For years I have been pondering getting an adjustable dumbell for home use.

Should have got one years ago biggrin

Went for a cheapish one, goes up to 36kg on 2kg increments.

Wouldn't survive a drop I suspect, but not intending to drop it!

Drop sets rock.

Managed the 200kg low bar last night for a new PB with squats, coach is talking about possibly 220 around competition time end of March so we'll see how the next couple of months go.

That's the one I was meaning biggrin

None of the lifts look close to your limit, lots more there, particularly if you peak well for a comp!

Back in gym today after 3 months off, and zero motivation for most of last year.
Just took it easy today.
Gonna try some deadlifts tomorrow to see where strength is and then axle press and overhead wrk Saturday.

I'm going to have another go at 531 next week. I tired it a year ago but I was in calorie deficit and it ended in injury on the deads around cycle 3 or 4. My own stupid fault as he says in the book don't do this while cutting.

I'm going to give 531 with Boring but Big (BBB) a go. I don't really squat much as for me the BB back squat is a lower back isolation exercise. My back always gets fried before my legs even break a sweat so this is gonna be fun. Still my deadlift is much better than my squat now, 175kg 1rpm dead vs 100kg 1rpm squat so I am hoping my lower back will be able to take it.

It sounds like you're struggling with proper form on your squat then. As someone who has done BBB with a very "lower back" dominant squat, when you do the heavy deads and then move onto the 5x10 squats, your back gets wrecked.

Just starting to get back to the gym regularly after having been off since November with a leg injury (fell down the side of a train and developed cellulitis and an abscess) and surprised at how far my aerobic capacity has fallen.

Not doing any heavy workouts or compound movements, just conditioning for a few weeks to get used to moving again. Last night:

Goblet squat 30kg x 10
Split jump x 20
rest 2 mins
10 rounds

or

Dumbbell push press 10kg x 10
Ski Erg 2 mins
rest 2 mins
3 rounds
Goblet squat 30kg x 10
Ski Erg 2 mins
rest 2 mins
3 rounds

plus some core stuff and a few pullups/dips (very few at present)!

On the plus side, I've lost a few kg due to antibiotics killing my appetite...

Your weights sound similar to me - 160 dead x 4, 100 x 6 squat - not tried for a single best, probably there or thereabouts.

The squats don't touch my back if I'm doing them right, do them wrong...

Have you thought about front squats?

Seems to be a bit of an assumption amongst weight trainers that back or front squats are de rigueur. For general strength/bodybuilding they are not. a combination of leg press/pistols/lunges/bulgarian squats etc will grow the legs just fine. There are people who for a number of reasons will never master the squat, just like there are those who always lag at bench press, but there are plenty of alternatives.
