But the more muscle you have, and the thicker your bones from stress exercise (within reason, revoery accepted of course) is better for your healthspan.
Up to a point, yes.

General physical preparedness, mobility and agility/skills are also beneficial.
The function of skeletal muscle is to allow movement of bones. As we age muscle atrophies and therefore moblity declines. Resistance training slows muscle atrophy down, allowing for a less sedentary lifestyle as we get older. There are obvious knock on beneficial effects to the cardiorespiratory system. Without healthy working muscle physical preparedness, mobility and agility would all be impossible. On the other hand Crossfit will actually shorten your life, don't try it kids! biggrin
ETA Research has also shown sarcopenia (muscle loss due to aging) is closely linked to dementia.

Another 4 mile jog yesterday (parkrun last Saturday and 4 miler on the Friday)
Now can't move as I pulled something in my side while getting the weekly shop in!
5 a day might be all very well but reaching over the fruit and veg counter is a "killer"...

Found out today I can't overhead squat just after benching, shoulders are way too tired. biggrin
It was a good bench though. SMall victories, up 20 kg from this time last year.

Good progress still being made in the gym, racing a lot on Zwift at the moment so my cardio fitness is creeping back up former levels.

Been thinking about taking up sea swimming, been reading up of it's health benefits of which there is many, my mum sea swims every single day year round and is still going strong at 86.

No, it is impressive for an 86 year old - or anyone really - to make the commitment to swim every day outside in our climate. Good for her.

Totally unsurprised you decided to be a douche bag about it though.

For suggesting genes play a role more important than commitment? confused Incidentally you've quoted wrong.

Last week I began training for a 40 mile running race. The main difference in my training will be weekly longer runs to accompany the usual intervals/tempo and easy runs.

Strength, conditioning and martial arts will continue as normal.

was going to slip in a wod day today, took some caffeine(and it says ephedrine) tabs and my home made pre-workout, got to gym, did my daily mobility routine (about 10 mins) and then the phone went to help with the shopping. Cue me in Tescos going through the aisles like the Ultimate Warrior...although I tend to do that anyway.
