Circuits vs straight sets. Can any one shed some real world light on this article. I was thinking about switching to something like this to save a bit of time in the morning. Can circuit training be as effective for strength and hypertrophy as straight sets? Im guessing no but would like to see what people think. Thanks in advance
I would think for Bodybuilding it would be ideal if you are short on time. I can't see it working for strength training due to the longer rest periods needed. Circuits vs straight sets. Done some full body circuit training yesterday and today. Yesterday;
Banded kettlebell sumo deadlifts
Ring pull ups
Kettlebell military press
Racked carries
Done 4 rounds. I took it easy as it was the first time doing it.
Today was similar;
Banded kettlebell sumo deadlifts
Ring rows
Banded press ups
Kettlebell snatches
4 rounds again. Again took it easy. Both workouts took around half hour including a quick warm up. Was surprisingly gassed but enjoyed it as it made a change. I will stick with these I think. Thought it would be a good idea to do a lower body movement, a push, a pull and a full body movement.

Strict press @125kg for 3/3/4 PB tonight.

Given my max was 120kg (maybe 125 if I tried to max again back in March) I'm looking forward to seeing how many kilos I've put on in 2-3 weeks.
I'm guessing 145-150kg is current max which would be a 25-30kg gain in 4/5 months

Thursday 5x4 @260kg deadlifts, weren't the best form wise but still relearning the suit.
Yesterday 3x8 @106kg log clean and press
3x 180kg per hand farmers max holds - thanks to a torn callus these were done as fingertip holds, managed around 10 secs on my last set.
Today I'm off to see my coach to do some form work in the suit, it'll be 100x easier having someone shout some positions at me rather than trying to film and work out what's wrong.

Quick question.... When doing any sort of exercise - be it cardio or weights or whatever...
If getting straight up in a morning, do people eat first then do.itnor just crack on?
I'm thinking 20 miles on the bike really?
Unless it’s something really intense (long period of exercise), I just crack on and eat afterwardsIf getting straight up in a morning, do people eat first then do.itnor just crack on?

I’m not sure how fit you are or if the 20 miles is off road or particularly hilly but I don’t think 20 miles warrants any fuelling up first.
Run this morning: 20 times 100m strides. Then 10 full power sprint starts.
Road cycle this afternoon: 30km in an hour, over a few hills, average heart rate 130bpm.
MTB this evening: Maybe, depends if I can get my wife to look after the kids!
I’m a 45 year old man, trying to maintain some measure of speed and fitness.
