From me this morning, more pull ups, kettlebell presses and used my very own frankenbell for the first time today. It weighs a whopping 52kg. Nicked some ideas from this thread and ratchet strapped a 20kg plate to my 32kg bell. It worked pretty well to be fair. Traps are aching now from the swings hehe

5x5 Squats, bench and rows, plus C25K week 3, run 1.

Only really notable because I'm in my home gym having installed a rack, bench and 145kg of weights, plus a new floor and lights this weekend. So pleased with my 12'x8' shed-gym.

Weighed myself this morning...oops. Minimal training and st diet has seen me move from 17st 4 in October to 19st 8 today...didn't think it would be so much as all my clothes still fit fine? Anyway, back on serious deficit and daily jogs, get this shifted...

Another 3 mile jog tonight although it turned into a walk for last half mile or so as recalcitrant bull mastiff decoded he didn't want to jog anymore, and they are stubborn buggers!!

Today, swim around the bay with my daughter, then 45 mins on Zwift, plus 80 pull ups.

Goblet squats, ring rows, ring press ups and kettlebell snatches from me this morning. Reps still going up so some small progress. Traps are still saw from yesterday's frankenbell session and so is my right pec which is strange.

5x20 Wrap Around Press with my new bands this morning. Using Jeff Caviliere vids for some tips and techniques to get me started. Felt good, and nice to be able to do some different chest exercises at home

He is a bit bro-y - but get past that and he has some genuinely good ideas and suggestions from how to get the most from bands.

More band stuff before work. Some chest and shoulders. Still trying to figure out what works, but today felt pretty good. Face pulls worked really well.

They’ve given me a new impetus to train at home, which is great as there is still no news about gyms reopening here.

14km at 29km on the road bike at lunch

5km walk (to drop more beer bottles off!) after work.

Hi all,

I've been trying to add a little variety into my weights routine while keeping the core exercises in place.

This is mainly to keep me interested whilst I train at home but also to try to uncover some hidden (to me) gems

As examples I've recently tried ;

The 'Yates' deadlift - helped take the weight of my lower back which was tired from a leg session a few days earlier
Kneeling landmine banded shoulder press - good change to the usual weight pattern
Landmine lateral raise - felt very gentle on my slightly grumpy
shoulders....liked this a lot

On my next training day I'll try split stance trap bar deadlift to see how this works

In not looking to rip apart my routine but if anyone has any good suggestions for little known exercises then I'm all ears. I have a power rack, dips station, bars, dumbells and bands so a bit of basic kit to play with.

Thanks

That's probably the Bill Gates microchip imbedded in you making you stop...

I don't know why people get so worried about that sort of thing, after thirty years Bill Gates couldn't even build a computer that could control my printer.

I decided to relieve my boredom a few weeks ago by doing planks, started at 2 mins and added 10 secs every day. Initially was really tough, but pushed through and got as far as 5 1/2 minutes the other day, then took a few days off.

Anyway, banged out a full 6 minutes today, which was surprisingly easier than i thought.

I might give the front lever a go, although my left shoulder has been dislocated so many times i’m not sure i’ve got the strength. Anyway, happy with the progress so far.
