Friday: Bench press x 4 sets, OHP x 4 sets, EZ curls x 6sets, pull ups x 40 reps (dedicated to ORD).

Sunday: 7 short rounds on punch bag followed by a COVID-19 vaccine.

Missed Monday's highly controversial (biglaugh) deadlifting due to mild vaccine side effects. Missed two runs as well.

Today: Bench press x 4 sets, OHP x 4 sets, EZ curls x 3 sets, pull ups x 22 (so far, doing them between meetings and emails).
There you go! Nice work.

After my week off, I had a reasonable workout on Tuesday.

Trap bar deadlift: 5 x 5 @ 155 kg
1-hand landmine press: 5 x 5 @ 50 kg
Pull ups: 7 x 10 kg; 6 x 15kg; 4 x 20kg; 6 x 15kg; 7 x 10 kg plus some unweighted sets
Some ab stuff and press ups.

Gonna try for a max set of press ups in a week or two - see whether I can get 50 or more.

Anybody seen this website and the "standards" for exercise?

https://strengthlevel.com/strength-standards

I'm extremely keen to believe it's accurate as it puts me at intermediate or higher in most things. Which would be nice given I am purported to have the same % body fat as a sausage roll.

Afternoon swim which marked a full year of sea swimming everyday, then a Time Trial on Zwift, think I was around 7/8th, then 120 pull ups.

That was tiring to watch, can’t imagine how tough it was to do!

Pulled my my left glute maximum doing split squats with a mere 17.5kg pair of dumbbells this evening. Trying to find some decent stretches to relieve the pain

If I'm reading your post right, I find the "reclining pigeon stretch" quite good for stretching that area out. Doesn't always hit the right spot, but usually helps a little at least.

Well it's a lot easier to control our tiny population than a a country with tens of millions, but yeah everything is back to normal, no face masks even, the home workouts good but nothing beats the gym.

Yes indeed. That day can't come soon enough to Budapest.

Yesterday, commutes again. 7km each way. Went hard on the way home. Average 27km/h which is decent considering the city centre ride and the traffic. Then a walk down by the Danube, about 4km

More Margit Island laps today.

Brutal wind again, so happy with that effort:

Very windy down here too, making the bike and swimming super hard, really pleased with yesterdays efforts on the bike, recording some of my quickest times on the climbs for years, today had a really strong shoulder session, standing shoulder press coming on a treat.

I'm looking at doing some intermittent fasting at some point don't know if you guys have any experience, but I'm intrigued at any possible benefits that may come my way.

3k sea swim this morning, windy but from the north so fairly smooth on the south coast, water warming up slowly, going to check out one of the reservoirs that’s just reopened tomorrow. Reservoirs’s 10c now. think the coldest I swam in this winter was 6c, haven’t been in a heated pool since gym closed in first lockdown.

Open water swimming is really enjoying a revival during covid.

Wondering about this right now. for my height/weight i'm still very much in the novice area. I've casually lifted for afew years. i haven't lifted consistent 3x a week for any extended period. there hve been times when i haven't even gone gym for 6 months.

i wonder at what point would someone not be considered part of the whole 'n00b gains'

Noon gains last for years if you don’t train hard enough to run out of them!
You’ll know you’re done with noob gains when you can train fairly hard 3-4 times per week and see zero progress.
