I think he'd be surprised how the pull-up ability (or lackthereof) of the average gym rat.
In the general, untrained population, the average is probably something like three pullups, if that.

Ok, maybe I was being optimistic
You didn’t just make it up. I’ve seen the 3 number all over the place. It’s always struck me as optimistic. Maybe about right for slender men under 30, but even then I think it’s optimistic. My little brother trains several times per week and can only do about 3 pull ups. I think that’s quite normal! To be even OK at pull ups, you have to be light or strong and/or train them a lot. Most people aren’t light, aren’t strong and don’t train.
I think very few people can actually do 20 pull ups despite seeing that mentioned everywhere. Not people of normal weight anyway.
It’s even rarer for a big guy to be able to do lots of pull ups. Diddly is a special case!
18 (I wanted to cease a rare opportunity to try beat ORD at something). 80kg and rising.... I blame quarantine, squats, and chicken McNuggets.
I think having a bar in the doorway to my office is the actual trick though.
I think the rings makes it harder due to having to balance out the movement. That said I can't do "chin ups" without them, the lack of rotation destroys my forearms. Same reason I can't do barbell curls.

Light and strong would be nice. I’ve never managed it. I’ve been light and I’ve been reasonably strong but never both!
Gymnast physique is ideal for these sort of techniques, see also loads of other very hard to achieve strength skills. Thing is they weigh little because in general they have disproportionately skinny legs... . There's a video somewhere of a 22 stone guy doing 12 straight bw pullups. I guess some people are just naturally very strong, or very very dedicated.
Cheers guys - but to be clear, this is 11-16 TOTAL over a 6 minute period. So two. rest, one, rest, one... you get the picture.
Way back when in my 20's I used to climb and 10+ was no worries. Apparently the extra 20kg (obviously all leg muscle...) doesn't help.
Anyway,
8/6/6 @ 100/110/120 deadlift
8x5 @ 32.5/35/37.5/32.5/32.5 seated OHP
3x6 band assisted pullups
Mountain Climbers - 3x60s
Used a reverse grip for the first time on the deads to resolve the grip/rollout and it made the whole process much easier, but I think my legs can take 120 while my lower and midback can't as the form wasn't quite there. A bit of rounding, so I'll drop back a little to 100/110/110 and get comfy there first.

146kg? I think we had a pony smaller than that at one point...To be fair he was most definitely st at pull ups.
Meanwhile, another dose of mediocrity from me;
Bench press 90kg @ 7,7,6,5
OHP 50kg @ 9, 6, 5
EZ barbell curls 28kg @ 21,20,19,15 supersetted with declined push ups 40,35,30.
Oh and 18 pull ups this morning. I'm including those.
Still sweating like a bd from Covid. No chance of a fking run today.

I find that with DBs. I can’t really handle much more than about 40kg safely into position!
Would be nice to be lying down already in position and have them handed to me, don't think my gyms fees cover that luxury!110 for reps is good lifting. There's no way on Earth I could roll back and take the bells off my raised knees at that weight, not even sure I could roll back.
