Today:

Squats 70kg @ 10,10,10,10 - Dropped the weight to concentrate on depth and get the knees and hips used to it, looks much better now.
Deadlift 120kg @ 6,6,6 - So much happier with grip now, looking forward to getting the weight up. Need to buy more plates!
Hammer curls 17kg@ 15,12,12,10
Supersetted with crunches 45,40,30.

Whilst I would like to bring back some sort of rows, I'm very glad I dropped Pendlay rows. I've no clue how anyone does three powerlifts in every session of that 5x5. I'd be absolutely broken.

Strolled round the park.

4.5 miles, with about 300ft of up and down. 49 minutes, so brisk enough to sweat a little.

Had a mess around with deadlifts up to two sets of 5 at 140. This week has given me a base level to work from.

Tried some lifts I haven’t done for a while. Still tired after a couple of months of 80 hour weeks.

Trap bar deads: 3 x 175kg, 155,155,155
Landmine press: 50kg x 12,8,8,8
Chins: 4 x 8
Some core stuff and press ups.

Deads were fine on my hip (which has been bad for 3-4 months now), so that’s good news. Landmine press fine apart from the usual clinking and clunking in my stty shoulder :-)

Final SBD session for comp next weekend, very easy taper week coming up

Squat
Top set of 232.5kg
3 sets of 7 at 150kg

Bench
Top set of 130kg
2 sets of 2 at 120kg

Deadlfits
Top set of 265kg
3 sets of 6 at 180kg

Yesterday was a decent day for a conditioning session.
88kg x10 log press into 92kg x10 axle press
172kg axle DOH deadlift
105kg x100m farmers walk split into 20m drop and turn runs.
100kg x20 one motion atlas stone over bar
100kg to 6ft platform just to give it a go.

Trialling a program I made a few years back with some tweaks with current knowledge and it seems to be paying off so far as an off season program.
Still early days though but conditioning has increased already.

Today, a pretty tough ride on the bike, legs feeling a bit tired from a mental race on Zwift the day before, then a nice back sesh at the gym, back doing chest supported rows, topped out at 3 and a half plates with more in the tank, fours plates by the end of the summer for sure, then 2 sets of pull ups as a finisher.

Kettlebell rows 32kg X 100 (50 each side)
Press ups + red resistance band X 75
Burpees X 50

Yesterday
250kg x5 loose wraps squat for a cheap PB (literally a bit more than taking slack out so I can do rep work in them).
177.5kg x6 deadlift stance SSB box squats
3x6 Bulgarian split squat with 30kg dumbbell
3x6 510lb standing calf raises
3x6 67.5kg leg extensions
1 minute plank to finish.

I was dead towards the end. Making progress across all lifts though.

Farnborough Half Marathon at the weekend, followed by 4x 1 mile intervals this morning for recovery.

About 3km of jogging and walking round the local park. Distance I cover and the ratio of jog to walk are both slowly increasing.

I've no great target in this, too many old leg injuries from playing Sunday league 30+ years ago to want to do any more than 30 minutes of breathing heavily.

Bit weaker than last week, but had a rather large weekend for shame, slight incline dumbells up to 42.5kg for sets of 5, slight incline flys up to 32.5kg sets of five, flat close grip bench 3x3 at 80kg, 5 sets of abs, 2 sets of 5 dips. The only way is up.

200 press ups in sets of 25 or 30
Assorted kettlebelling and pull downs
25 minutes, mostly done outdoors and it all felt like a good way to start a summer's evening.

Yesterday, 2km swim with the wife on our south coast cliffs, stunning little bay, the 356 giant sized steps back to the top not so much, then a chest at the gym, today was a tough hilly 80 minutes on the bike, will do a swim later on the high tide.

Last night 10km club run - 48:40, around 6 seconds away from my PB. Felt pretty good chasing the fast guys, managed to hang onto their coat tails for most of it.
