Been floored by a urine infection this week, had no idea these could be so unpleasant, hot and cold sweats at night, tired all the time, I'm actually off work today.
I had one back in the 90's. I played a game of golf on a hot day, forgot my drink. Had a few beers after then a few more at home. I was pissing blood for a month after, all down to dehydration/ shifts / tiredness. It's a major issue on hospital wards with old folk who don't / can't get hydrated, some go right doolally.

Back on topic, 2 hour road ride on Sunday in the heat, 4 hours golf Monday, 2 hour Zwift in the garage today as it was raining....fluids / fluids / fluids.
Doesn't help that the antibiotics they have put me on make me feel constantly nauseous, and I still have almost a week left of then to take.
Managed a walk with dogs today without becoming drenched in sweat so tentative return to gym tomorrow.

Yesterday, big push session at the gym, standing overhead press, 70kgs for reps, I have concluded that this is one of the most horrible exercises in the gym, then sets of weighted pull ups, finishing off with 4 minutes of non stop hammer work on the tyre, was pleased to stagger to the car frankly. Then a 40km race on Zwift which had me wretching with effort from the off, then a 20 minute swim in the bay to chill off.

Nope. Willing to pay but there’s nobody around willing to visit and I don’t have time to travel to and from sessions.

I was able to do 2 or 3 short workouts per week because I was staying in a hotel several nights per week (commute on top of working hours was too much).

Anyway, my current lifts and goals for my 40th birthday next April.
Bench: 90kg - 115kg
Squat: ? - 80kg
Deadlift: ? - 120kg

Gonna take it easy and hope to back to old numbers by next Christmas (170/125/190kg).
If you use Facebook, have a post in here https://www.facebook.com/groups/StrongmanUk/?ref=s...
They'll be someone who should be able to help I'd imagine.

Enjoying this, but looking forward to having a couple of weeks off recovery after Weymouth 70.3.

Still plodding along 3 to 4 times per week, I have started to split up the sessions a little.

Today:

Squat - 8 sets of 12-2 reps
Clean and Press - 8 sets of 8-1 rep (I concur with mcelliott, this is by far the most exhausting exercise and the one I least look forward to)
Deadlift - 5 sets of 5-1 reps

Wide Grip Lat Pull Downs - 4 sets of 12-8 reps
Seated Close Grip Pulley Row - 4 sets of 12-8 reps

Today, fast coffee ride with my wife, nearly 37kph avg, then incline benching at the gym, topped out with 100kg for 5 then some serious tyre work with a 10kg hammer, missing my sled pushes but the knees is still way too swollen. Then a really good hour on Zwift legs and lungs just feel incredible at the moment, finished off with a sea swim.

Comfy 340kg deadlift tonight, suit is a bit too big so rode up and lost a lot of floor power off the back of it so can't argue with how well it went even though it felt worse than it looked.

Knee was fine with this so hopefully no issues running a deadlift peak now.
Also 2.6x bodyweight lift for a cheap PB laugh

Had a hell of a week. Turned out I didn't have a urine infection, likely had some kind of virus, so took a weeks worth of awful antibiotics that have left me vomitting yesterday and unable to eat more than a half a sandwich over last three days such has been the naseau and queasiness they have caused. Got a Dr appointment today as am off work again. Managed to keep a yoghurt down today so far! Hopefully that's the tablets/virus wearing off now.

Yesterday, hilly hour on the bike, 34kph avg didn’t even feel hard, quite the opposite actually, then 30 pull ups in a single set on my bar which is a pr, then 1k swim. Today more of the same, everything feels very light and easy at the moment, looking forward to killing the gym over the weekend.

Yesterday morning I managed a sub 7 minute 2k rower for the first time (concept 2). A fairly horrible distance, most of it is mind games trying to ignore the overwhelming urge that you couldn't possibly keep the up the current pace, you should either back off the pace if you want any chance of not blowing up, or better, stop, just stop.

Time 6m56.3 Pace 1m44.0 / 500m Avg HR 167
500m 1m44.4 end HR 164
1000m 1m44.2 end HR 166
1500m 1m44.2 end HR 168
2000m 1m43.5 end HR 173

I only took to the rower a few months ago so I've had some nice newbie gains, but not sure I'll get much off this time easily now. I think next time I'll try to pace the first 1500m at 1m44.0 and see if I can squeeze out an extra half second in the last 500m. I should hit the squats.

This morning I also PB'd a 10k in 37m59.9, pace 1m53.9 / 500m. Not so painful and I think I've got a bit more in me.

I'm not sure why I find this fun.

It's not fun, it's horrible. I used to row a lot and it was a great cardio workout but one of the least 'pleasant' to practice

My god. 340kg is 5.6x my bodyweight.

Thats a serious lift my friend. A lot of dedication to get that far.

Still struggking with health, been off work for best part of last fortnight, back Monday. Energy levels are better now I can eat more than a (forced) sandwich a day although still accompanied by groans, rumbles and indigestion. Lost about a stone though so good jump off point for more cardio based stuff now I'm out of the holidays. Gonna try a session tomorrow and hopefully Sunday. We take our health for granted its nae fun when it fks off for a bit! Stay well all, gbn x

If you're only a few months in that's fantastic and you must already have a great cardio base.

Yesterday, fast road spin in the morning followed by a 2k sea swim, then a really good session at the gym, sets of incline bench with 100kg finished off with 3 minutes of non stop hammer work on the tyre, then a steady hour on Zwift to finish. Diet is now super clean so body fat is probs in single figures.
