Bored stless with ankle rehab exercises and upper body training.

Gonna go for a 40kg kettlebell press and pull up by Christmas to give me something to focus on.

I don't want to derail the thread but don't think this warrants starting a new one. Does anyone else struggle with sleep on the day of a big workout? I had a decent cycle yesterday and kept waking up every 2hrs last night. I've found this to be a common theme when I push myself in any endurance exercise.
How do you feel after those workouts/cycles? Exhausted? Could it be that you're over-tired? Are you inadvertently changing your evening ritual (e.g. eating later/having a bigger meal)?

It could just be that on those days you need to be more proactive about sleep recovery? Maybe going to bed a bit earlier? No screens for an hour before you want to be asleep etc etc?

Also, any ideas why you're waking up? Are you sore/cramping? Thirsty?

If its particularly hard session then it could be your thyroid releaseing more hormone to supportive the bodys heightened activity levels, in me it manifests as the craziest night sweats.

I generally feel a bit sore but not exhausted like I've pushed too hard. No changes to my evening really, I do naturally eat more as I'm hungrier and want to replace expelled calories.

I don't change anything and have a habit of putting my phone down a few hrs before bed and reading a book instead.

Yes last night I woke up thirsty but I had drunk plenty in the day/evening but could have been a bit dehydrated.

I didn't know about this. I do feel very hot generally after a big cardio session and noticed that last night. I'll read up on this.

Yesterday, 1km swim first thing, then 50km on Zwift, some big 10 minute efforts which resulted in me gaining a leaders jersey on the volcano circuit, if you know Zwift you'll know! then a really good back session with my son at the gym.

Today, short sea swim then a nice evening bike ride in fab autumnal conditions with my wife, she's now one of the strongest female riders in the region, finished off with a set of 27 on the pull up bar.

Top work!

Today, 1km sea swim, then a decent hour on the road, 34kph avg, 300m of climbing, felt very comfy.

I ran for 36 minutes today, which is longer than I've ever run as an adult.

Concept 2 rower: 8x 2min, 2min rest. A little ambitious with the pace and I mentally lost it in the penultimate interval.

Shoulders and legs today, back and biceps yesterday.. I have an issue when doing seated single arm hammer curls, I get pain in the inside of the elbow joint with the eccentric movement.. but nothing when doing straight forward bicep curls.

I have had to reduce the weight considerably on the left, 15kg db’s max.

Had it around a year now.. I assume it’s a tendon issue? I’m only hitting biceps once a week because of this..

A quick 45 mins on Zwift after 3 weeks off due to a trip abroad. Felt good and probably needed the break tbh.

Today, tough swim in heavy seas, turned around 400m from the shore, didn’t fancy swimming in the trough of an 8ft swell, then a hard 50 minutes on Zwift, then very rare midweek trip to the gym, 100kg incline bench alternating with weighted pull ups for 40 minutes.

An hour on Zwift tonight, the new ghost feature when you see a hologram of you doing your PB over the last 90 days is a great addition. Sod anyone else I ended up chasing myself up a mountain ;-)..my ghost still beat me.

Today, 70km on the bike, 1500m of climbing, then a circuit of overhead presses, pull-ups and sled pushes at the gym, then did a sea swim in very rough seas, have to say I didn’t feel tired at all from today.
