What training are you doing/have you done today? (Vol.3)
Discussion
Training going OK. All just rehab for lower body, but some good upper body work.
Highlights from the last week or so -
Kettlebell OHP: 4 x 2 @ 32kg; 12@ 24kg
Chins: 8-1 reps @ 15-30kg. I think my 1RM is around 42 ATM.
Football bar bench: 10 @ 82.5kg
I’m gonna buy a 40kg KB once I can get 5 reps with the 32kg

Tuesday 120kg x6 strict press quite comfortably followed by 130kg x6 push press (back cramp stopped me hitting the planned 8).
Knee was a little achy after but nothing too bad which I'm happy with.
Just going to keep push press in after strict whilst the knee hopefully gets used to heavier loads through other movements.
Thursday 180kg x4 paused SSB squats, moved fast and felt easy. Had to stop though as I was starting to shift off my bad knee and trying not to develop problems from compensating.
Friday worked up to a fastish 310kg yoke run then tried 360kg for 15m to get a feel of the weight as that's a common weight in opens. Took me 14s and felt like I left my spine on the floor somewhere half way down
The biggest struggle is my knee giving me like an uncontrollable limp making it much harder to move fast.
After I did a 94/110/130/145/155kg stone run to 53" in about 30s - heaviest since the knee injury.
Yesterday I tried doing a log session but was absolutely blown from last week so didn't go well but to be fair it's also my last heavy session before comp next weekend.
On Saturday my first comp this year to see how things are going.
Only a Push/Pull but hoping for a 150kg+ strict log press and 400kg deadlift.
Feeling semi confident for both lifts.

Where's the comp smiffy?
I've had a bit of a rest after struggling with a leg issue, but saw my physio last Thursday who's worked his usual wonders.
Gentle run for a couple of miles yesterday, moved some weights today and back to boxing tomorrow.

Decent set up they've got going there, all money made is pumped back into the equipment too.
Yesterday, 6.30am sea swim, 55km bike session then 45 pull ups.
Today, very early morning swim, dark again, then 70kms on Zwift, got in the water again around lunch in the most appalling weather, then a single set of 32 pull ups, a new PR, training feels an absolute breeze at the mo, probably the strongest and leanest I've ever been.

Last night - first session in a couple of weeks following knee op.
10 mins on treadmill walking backwards. Physio says it's to help me increase the range of motion (progression towards full extension) on my recovering leg. I'm not convinced he didn't just tell me to do it for a giggle. I look stupid.
Overhead Press 4x12
Incline dumbbell press 4x10-12
Pec deck 3x12
Plyo pushup 4x5
Lateral raise 3x12
Cable pushdown 4x12-15
Going to have a hypertrophy phase for 6 months or so whilst rehabbing my knee. It'll allow me to work in plenty of mobility stuff and skip leg day when I feel like it without having to exclude large parts of a workout (e.g. power cleans, snatches etc).

Started new 12 week plan this week focusing on fat loss.
Monday = push am, run 10k pm
Tuesday = 45 min spin class
Wednesday = pull am, walk pm
Thursday = HIIT spin class
Friday = push am
Saturday = pull
I could do more resistance on legs but they’re in good shape and spin is brutal! I love cardio so could never just go push/pull/legs… boring! Not to mention I’m 45 so lean gains would be minimal, for me it’s about being all round fit( and if poss ripped). Most important thing I’m doing is thinking about food/macros. Reduction of 300cal per day and cutting out the junk

I'd have got bored months ago if I hadn't started boxing, not that I've got much talent for it

I used to train boxing, kick boxing, MMA and Judo in a previous much fitter life, brilliant for cardio and core strength. Go grapple someone who knows their way around a human body and it is claustrophobic, suffocating and exhausting My trainer, "I'm going to get your feet and hands working together if it kills me."
