Yesterday, 6.30am sea swim, 55km bike session then 45 pull ups.
Today, very early morning swim, dark again, then 70kms on Zwift, got in the water again around lunch in the most appalling weather, then a single set of 32 pull ups, a new PR, training feels an absolute breeze at the mo, probably the strongest and leanest I've ever been.
How do you find the time? Do you work?
Ive become pretty good at time management, that and being my own boss, my front door is just over a minutes walk to the beach, my Zwift set up is in my shed and I have pull up bar in the garden, even in the winter i will swim 10 or 11 at night or 5 in the morning if the tide times are against me, gym sessions of which I do 4 a week last no longer than 45 minutes
That is some hard-core regime. What do your gym sessions look like if you don't mind me asking?

I admire your resolve. I was such a regular, consistent trainer in my younger days but still need to fully reform the habit. I know I'd be being a better friend to myself in doing so, to paraphrase Paulie from the Sopranos!
Its not really resolve cos I love training, when you find enjoyment or fulfilment in anything then it becomes very very easy.

TheThing, I keep them very simple, mostly compound movements and bodyweight exercises, rep range is between 8-12 but can be higher to around 85% of failure, experience has taught me to push real hard when I feel good and back off when I'm not, works for me.

I recently bought a 32kg kettlebell. Found 1 rep fairly hard first time. I’m now up to 4 x 4 and feeling chuffed. Gonna get after a 40kg KB press within a few months.

Ah, that's the difference. I fell out of love with it many years ago but recognise the need to keep it up.

Big deadlift that Smiffy, great determination

How you feeling today?
Actually felt okay!
Traps a bit sore and lower back was but have been having ongoing issues with lower back which I think is stemming from over compensating from my knee.
Catch 22 as I need to load it to get back to heavier weights but it seems in doing so I created a new problem laugh

Hoping to pull 400kg again before the years out at my main gym.
Stiff bar and old school weights, was the original plan and I think the owners plan is to have a gym deadlift party to encourage others to join in and set some PBs too biggrin

This morning was a 20 minute full body circuit;

Kettlebell deficit deadlifts 60kg X 10
Double kettlebell rows 2 X 24 kg X 12
Kettlebell presses 1 X 20kg X 10 each side
Farmers walks 60kg X 6 lengths of my garden

4 rounds.

This evening was 16 mile ride home on the road bike. 1hr and 30 seconds.

I forgot how much I enjoy full body circuits. The options are endless so it never gets boring.

Really brutal week of training last week so foot off the gas this week, today 20 minutes in the sea and a fast but steady hour on Zwift, just clicked 13000km for the year on the bike, may get close to 15000 by years end.

What was your last lift before the big 400 ?

If it was close to 400 do you feel much battered post lift in comparison ?

Bloody freezing swim before daybreak, then 3 sets of 40 press ups one the beach, has a useful decline, then a mid week gym session, incline bench 100kg felt very comfy, then seated press full stack, reverse grip pull downs full stack, finished off with 3 sets of weighted pull ups.

Felt beat up today so did one hard set and then easy back of work.

Chins: 40kg single then 32kg x 4,2,2,2,2
KB Press: 32kg x 7,3,3,3,3
Single leg Romanian deads: 5 x 5 @ 32kc
Calf work, abs, wide arm pull ups and lat raises.

Really making use of the 32kg kettlebell!

Still a fairly big deficit in strength and ROM on injured leg, but at least I’m walking normally now.

Yesterday, hilly hour out on the road, then a single set of pull up, did 32 which I think is a pb, will get 40 by the end of the year, also did my usual sea swim in the morning.

Today, full body workout at the gym, so standing overhead press then squats followed by weighted dips, felt good, smashed out 60km on Zwift then a very cold sea swim to cool off.

Sorry didn't see this last time I was on PH!
I went 360 before the 400, I know how a 90% lift should move and feel so if I didn't think it went too well I'd have gone 380/390 instead but aside from catching the suit it looked and felt like a routine lift.
I wouldn't do 5% jumps personally like some people do, but only because there's too much to go wrong with a 95% lift.
If you misgroove that could turn into a 100% lift and blow you for the next one whereas a 90% lift if you pull slightly wrong at least it's recoverable without too much damage or is at least for me.

Anyone know the best place to get a testosterone (and other relevant bloods) checked by a medic? Also how much does it cost?

I have private healthcare but it has excesses and, I think, needs a GP referral to endocrinology which I think I'm unlikely to get one unless there's more substantial symptoms.

just found this thread as a long time lurker, I'm into endurance sports triathlons/ultra marathons etc but since doing my last Ironman in July I just haven't been arsed.

Got a concept 2 the other day and have been getting back into rowing and forgot how horrible yet amazing it is
