Interesting read this and i am genuinely surprised at how much weight some people gain here.I am 5ft 11 and 75kg and get through about 2500/3000 calories each day which results in little or no weight fluctuation for me.How many calories each day are some of you getting through 4000+ ?

Good luck to all.
Genuinely dread to think!

I imagine, looking at what you are putting away calorie wise - you are pretty active every day?

Ultimately, my body only takes sort of 1700 kcals a day to run, and if you drive to work, like I do and potter at home in the evening - even having 2500 a day will creep up eventually.

That said, booze and sweets/crisps are my issue. That adds up fast. And whereas before I was pretty active, but now am not....

Booze is my issue, I eat relatively little and healthily; a typical week day is:

  • 3 eggs scrambled for breakfast (no toast)
  • salad leaves, cherry tomatoes, red onion, pepper, half a breast of grilled chicken, couple of spoons of mayo, apple, banana and satsuma for lunch.
  • something made from scratch for dinner.
At work I drink water or unsweetened black coffee.

Occasionally I'll have a couple of biscuits from the tin at work, I never supplement lunch with popping to the shops for crap.

I almost always do at least 10,000 steps per day.

I'm in.

I am genuinely ashamed to admit how much I weigh and wasn't going to post, however the first step to solving a problem etc... I've signed up for the premium MFP and started yesterday.

168.7kg as of yesterday morning, target of 115kg which should be achievable in 12 months at 1kg/wk. MFP says daily calorie target of 2,270, 284g of carbs, 76g of fat and 114g of protein.

First day went well, although slightly over on protein (128g), under on carbs (184g) and under on fat (61g). Undershot the cals as well by a little - 1,897.

Cheers - just adjusted the numbers slightly as I realised I'd screwed the conversion from imperial to metric...!

I have two sons coming up to double figures in age who keep me busy yes, however i have never been near a gym and my eating habits are less than ideal.I have about three or four beers in the evenings and haven't played sports for a long time now, other than some ice hockey last year but that is too physical for my aching bones now haha, so i just work on my skating mostly.I think i am maybe fortunate with my metabolism either that or i will have a heart attack before i'm fifty!.

Can't fault you on any of that it all looks healthy to me.Booze is the tough one, i drink every night almost and would find it very difficult to stop or cut down considerably so i can relate to that.Good luck.

Haha it is odd really.A couple of friends, former rugby lads both over 220lbs would often be amazed at how much i could eat in relation to themselves.

yes The way I see it when the zombie apocalypse occurs people like Superflow will be struggling to find enough food to survive whereas I'll be able to live on a couple of berries scavenged from the hedgerows and still not be able to shift those last few kilos laugh

I'm in again. Unfortunately I put on a bit over Christmas so my starting weight is now 75.2 kg. My aim is 69 kg and I'm planning to do it the same way I lost over 20 kg last year which is by eating sensibly and exercising regularly. Like many on here booze is one of my big downfalls as it always tastes better with a bag of crisps or some nice cheese. I'm sort of doing dry January (got a couple of birthdays so not completely) as this should help me get back to the 73 kg I was before the holidays. I then have a couple of months to target those last stubborn kilos which were causing me problems last year

Good luck everyone

I'm in.

15st 9lb (99kg) on New Year's Day... The heaviest ever.

Aim is to get to 13st (82.5kg) by big family holiday at the end of June and see how I feel, may need to go further.

Dry January is in full effect, and I'm joining my wife in going Vegan for January as much as is humanly possible (I work with food).

Wish me luck!!

How much do you burn though? Its a plus and minus calculation. If you burn 3000 then of course you dont put any one. If you burned 2000 then you would.
Yes ,I must have a swift metabolism and burn through a lot of calories.I wasn't aware you could calculate this accurately.

I dont think anyone can, but there are rough calculators out there. According to said calculators, I (6ft1, 14stone) should burn about 2200cal in normal 'staying alive' terms, so if I eat under this, I should lose weight. Seems to work ok from the last year's experiences.

Indeed - all the best with your big dump thumbup

biggrin

Superflow - its doable - all sorts of calculators on line. You can find what your BMR is (namely the number of calories it needs for you to tick over, sitting and doing nothing in a warm room), and then use calculators to estimate what else you do.

It's only an estimate, but the information is all out there if you have a google for a bit

Thanks.Had a look on one, my BMR comes in at 2005cal,and to gain 1lb a week is 2505cal.

So according to the calculator i have probably over estimated my calorie intake which makes sense as i am likely somewhere in the middle of the two figures explaining my static weight.

First admission of a fail.
Missed breakfast due to being rerouted to another customer.
Did ok at lunch with a Greggs healthy eating Mexican chicken Roll and bottle of oasis for lunch ( 500 cals).
Evening comes, and hotel room upgrade to Exec lounge at Deansgate Hilton ( quite a spread, free shorts, etc)
then on to Fazenda for unlimited meat and buffet. They do the best Pork Scratchings, and unsurprisingly for pieces of Pork fat they're bloody calorific. Then back to Exec lounge for more free voddy and coke.
On the 18th floor, so I think I'll have to take the stairs as penance.

Start again tomorrow.
