Getting my fitness up
Discussion
Also, many people have said to go to the doctors about the weight vs height issue. The only reason I haven't yet is due to the worry of what they'll do. My main thought is they'll just put me on 12 million tablets that I need to take 6 times daily, which I refuse to happen (overexageration to make the point). I assume I'll just have to go, tell them I don't want tablets etc and see what else they say?

That's a great place to start.FWIW, I don't think I'd be recommending doing more exercise to someone at your weight and height. For now you probably just need to eat more, you won't be able to build muscle if you don't eat enough.
Perhaps add in extra meal times if you can't eat more in a sitting. Snack too. Get variety but don't worry too much if you eat some junk as long as you eat.

or they could do you a referral to your local gym and get you free membership for as long as 1 year (providing you go the gym often enough).Shermanator said:
The people who go to the gym are my issue, everyone I could possibly know who goes to the gym on a regular basis are complete tts.
As for the home gym suggestion; fun fact: Not everyone has that sort of space and money... (If you're going to be snarky to me, I'll be snarky right back)
I'm 19, I've always been this skinny. I've been to dietitians before, and I eat as much as I can. Not much works, which is exactly why I am trying/planning on increasing weight with fitness/muscle rather than just outright fat.
I just want to be generally fitter and healthier, not specialising in anything in particular.
In terms of visiting the GP, that is my absolute last resort solution. If this whole regime doesn't work.
I'll have a look at "PT"
If you’ve always been that skinny (and you are skinny, make I mistake) you may be being a bit optimistic about being able to bulk up. As for the home gym suggestion; fun fact: Not everyone has that sort of space and money... (If you're going to be snarky to me, I'll be snarky right back)

Without knowing how much body fat you’re carrying, your physique sounds ideal for endurance (ie aerobic) events where power to weight counts and is optimised by reducing weight. So what about distance running or distance cycling?
Don’t fight your genetics. Use them.

You don't need to go to the gym with other people, in my 15 years of working out, i've trained with other people a few times max and keep myself to myself and have never run into problems. Be polite and do your own thing. As for the home gym suggestion; fun fact: Not everyone has that sort of space and money... (If you're going to be snarky to me, I'll be snarky right back)

As suggested, get a barbell and squat. This enables weight gain all over and not just in the legs. Press ups, pull ups and dumbbell work along with eating as much as you can fit it will work for you.
If you struggle to eat enough I don’t usually recommend weight gainers but try optimum nutrition serious mass. My brother had issues gaining weight from being super slim and a pint of that stuff in full fat milk was over 1700 calories. He’s up to 85kg now and training for one of those charity boxing matches also done a tough mudder last year.
If you don’t gain weight doing all that then as people have said, you may need to see GP.

There is no harm in going to see a GP. They can't "force you" to take tablets or follow their advice. However, they may be able to pinpoint any underlying issues that you should deal with anyway....or at least put your mind at rest that it isn't anything underlying and you just need to eat more / exercise.
Ref apps...whilst I'm looking to lose some weight....I am also looking to increase my fitness levels a little and have found these useful (both free, both easy to use).
The c25k (Couch to 5k) app is very good to get you moving gradually and builds up over a number of weeks. I'm at week 4 but going to repeat it rather than move to week 5 as it was harder than I was comfortable with. Make sure you have good trainers if you are going to run.
MyFitnessPal : Mainly used to track calorie intake. It has a massive database and for me there isn't much it seems to miss. Whilst I'm trying to go with a calorie deficit, it might be interesting for you to track exactly what calories you are eating. Try it for a week (& be honest, log everything) and post the daily results back here.
