My GP has suggested I take 600 to 900mg of Aspirin next time I get a migraine with a headache. Also prescribed me Almotriptan. Hopefully have more success with that than Sumatriptan.

TBH, while the headache is awful, the aura is worse as I cannot do anything for about 30 to 60 minutes when I have a migraine.

I haven't tried Botox, but it has been suggested to me to try CBD oil when the migraine hits.

How did they find your PFO? Did you have any other symptoms that prompted a check for a PFO?

Just checking the date of my last post and in that time I’ve had two days where I didn’t have this horrible smell. My doctor has been off/away, thankfully he is due back on Monday. This really is becoming unbearable.
Any news?

Thankfully I haven't suffered a migraine since the one I had in October. I don't think I am free of them, but nigh on 3 months without one is nice.

I’ve just started having these for the last 5 weeks, completely out of the blue and can’t figure out how they happen - I don’t drink/do drugs and eat pretty well. Doc initially prescribed triptan spray but knocked me down to tablets which do work but make me very very tired although I’m not sure if this is the meds or a hangover from the migraine.

Today I was prescribed propranolol and got a eye migraine thing (not sure of name) but quite disconcerting as I could see much in my left eye - tiredness is massive too.

I’m glad I found this thread and I’ve been bricking it that there’s something seriously wrong but reading through I can identify with everyone else’s symptoms which back up what the GP said.
Do you drink sugar free drinks? My routine now is to not have them, and then I also take 30mg Amitriptyline each night, as well as 2 Magnesium tablets each day. Up to now I have been migraine free since October.

Thanks to this thread I have cut them out, but the migraines remain frown I will continue to work with the GP as the Sumatriptan is working but obviously the period between taking a tablet and them kicking in is quite uncomfortable so I would like to find a more long term solution.
I found Amitriptyline to be better at preventing them than Propranolol. It may be worth asking about them? Alternatively, if you're getting several a week then it may be worth looking at the option of botox injections. Every trigger seems to be different for every person.

I am considering speaking with my GP about reducing what I take in a month or so.

I had a migraine a few weeks ago, but it was as I was going to bed, so I slept through it anyway, and it didn't affect me at all the next day. I think it was because I was very tired.

I haven't experienced a migraine since the attack in March / April. I have spoken with my GP today and we are reducing my dosage of Amitriptyline from 30mg daily to 20mg daily for the next 3 weeks, with a view to drop that to 10mg if I haven't had an attack. Here's hoping as I suffer with some of the side effects so hopefully I can come off them.

I am still thankfully migraine free. Almost 12 months since my last one. I am now fully off amitriptyline but continuing to take Magnesium Oxide tablets each day.

I still haven't had any drinks containing aspartame in a few years now. I am tempted to try it, but I don't want to experience a migraine!

I’ve been on a run of migraines for a number of weeks now, they tend to blend effortlessly from one to the next. Went to see my new doctor on Wednesday and they magically disappeared on Thursday morning. I had a blissful 48 hours, ‘twas truly wonderful.
This morning, Mrs Ructions, who isn’t known for her prowess in the bathroom, decided to clean the en-suite, with various sprays from Tesco.ie

It’s back with a vengeance. I can’t taste, I can’t eat, I can’t smell. Luckily I can drink. This is awful. Truly awful. I’ve used both sprays that are supposed to last me a month. I only saw the doc on Wednesday night and she isn’t the type who will issue a repeat prescription on a whim.
It was good while it lasted.
I might have missed it, are you taking anything to try and prevent them? If not speak to your gp about amitriptyline. My gp considered 3 in 4 weeks to mean I had migraine problems hence the meds.
