I'll share the results of the body comp. analysis tomorrow with you all, good or bad...
Ended up doing the body composition at last night's PT session and the results were unusual. It showed that my body fat was identical to the last measurement we took but I'd actually lost some muscle despite the work I've been doing on endurance. Best guess was that I probably need to up my protein intake, especially as my PT is now moving me from endurance to hypertrophic training to start building muscle. I've also said to him that I would prefer to take a measurement once a week going forward; I'm a 'data' guy and if something's going awry I'd rather know about it sooner.

What I do know though is that my endurance has definitely increased, as have my one-rep-max results - leg press has gone from 141kg to 149kg for example. I am also down 1kg since the last reading (but then I know that already from my SW weigh-ins).

Someone also said that it's possible the FitQuest machine isn't exactly accurate however I'm lead to believe they're one of the better ones so it's just possible that I really do just need to up my protein.

Kinda fun working this stuff out.

Not updated for a while but I'm down from 136.9kg in January to 130kg now. Its the lightest I've been for 8 years. I'm going back to a 9-5 job in January so hopefully the routine compared to random 12 hour shifts will allow for more exercise and less eating.

I did 32kg last year, down from 118 to 86, June to December, so 7 months, by counting calories and sticking to 1200 per day. Since then I've crept back to 96kg, mainly due to drinking too much vino.

I've now set myself a target of getting back down to 86kg by Christmas so I can still wear the clothes I bought last year. So that's 10 weeks at 1kg per week.

Should be ok if I stay off the booze for a while.
I'VE FAILED

Only made it to 87kg - the stats are as follows:
Time period ................................. 10 weeks
Total weight loss .......................... 9kg
Average kCal intake inc. booze ... 907 per day
Average alcohol intake ................ 7.24 per week

I might go for a bit more into the new year but for now it's a week off and I'll be cooking Christmas dinner for the family today smile

Back down to 85.9 this week, still not down to the 85.7 fluke week but it’ll do!

Pretty certain that’s as low as I’m going to go this year now, can’t imagine I’ll eat well over the next week or so.

Just want to say thanks for all the encouragement from this thread, I definitely wouldn’t have done it without somewhere to post my progress.

Might be back next year because I’ve still got some to lose but if not, good luck to anyone who is carrying on and well done to anyone who has hit their goal.

I’m in, better late than never!

A bit of background. I’ve been overweight since my early 20s due to years of takeaways and no exercise. 5 years ago I got off my arse and managed to go from 85kg down to 74 in around 6 months from a combination of diet changes and exercise. Sadly that didn’t last and I went back to my old ways.

At the start of August this year I weighed in at 84kg. I got back into a gym routine (cardio) and did some meal prep. I’m using MFP again and trying to keep below 1500 calories a day. I’ve managed to shift 6kg so far despite not being that healthy for the past 2 months.

I work a 9-5 and my issue recently seems to be finding the motivation to head out to the gym on an evening when it’s cold and miserable outside. I’m also weary of the upcoming rush with all the ‘new year new me’ crowd. I’m 32 and I’m finding it harder to shift weight now than I did 5 years ago.

I’m currently toying with the idea of buying a second hand exercise bike and trying to get some exercise done at home. I have a barbell and some weights but don’t have the foggiest about how to go about coming up with a routine.

Any suggestions for websites or iOS friendly apps would be gratefully received.

Another 1.5lb (0.7kg) loss this week, taking me to bang on 23st(146kg). That's 4st 2lb (26.6kg) lost now. Need to check this Thursday that it's fat loss and not muscle like last week; I've upped protein intake since Thurs.

Final update of the year from me...

Overall it's been pretty good! Weighed in yesterday at Slimming World and another 2.5lb loss (1.1kg) this week. Since starting on 12th August I've lost a total of 4st 5lbs (27.7kg), going from 27st 2lb (172.6kg) to 22st 11.5lbs (144.9kg).

I've ramped up the gym work, upped protein intake and am starting to see real gains from a strength perspective; for this reason I'm not overly concerned at what the FitQuest machine says at the moment. Not only has strength been improving, my cardio is better too so all moving in the right direction. Suffice to say I'm heading into 2020 pretty pumped and excited to see just how far I can improve myself. I know next year won't be quite so dramatic in terms of the speed of weight loss and I expect the next ~8st to take around 12 months to go (target is 15st/95kg). It's also entirely possible I may not actually ever get down to that weight depending on how far I choose to go with the weightlifting - but in any event I'd be happy being 16st/101kg of muscle rather than the 27st of flab I used to be!

I hope others are pleased with the progress they've made this year; there have been some really amazing achievements in this thread and I wish all of you guys the very best with your fitness plans heading into 2020!

P.S. Who's starting the 2020 thread...? biggrin
