I've done it for you. Are you using a mobile? Some other folks have said that changes won't save when editing with mobile confused .

Can anyone help with my fitness pal please?

I've downloaded the app today and accurately inputted what I've eaten. It says I've eaten 1'618 calories and my goal is 1'650 per day. It's linked to my garmin app so it knows I've been exercising and has given me another 1'050 calories. This has given me a remaining calories count for the day of 1,082.

I've never done calorie counting before so I'm not sure if I should be eating more or not. I'm thinking that I might sack it off and just carry on as I am.
I personally ignore any calories burnt doing exercise I just use the allowance as what I can eat and anything burnt through exercise is a bonus weight loss.

I should point out I only do light/moderate exercise and don’t claim to be an expert. If you were pounding the phys then it may be different but I’m not the guy to advise you if that’s the case. I just do what seems to be working for me.
Smitters said:
Sure - put simply, if you've eaten about 1,600 cals and burnt about 1,000, then you're fuelling the remaining 23 or so hours of your day, and the recovery from what sounds like quite significant exercise, on 600 cals. By MFP taking that exercise into account, it grants you back the 1,000 calories, so your net calorie intake is the same each day, irrespective of the amount of exercise you do and the weight loss and fuel going in remains consistent.

If you don't eat, I have found I get hungry and grab something calorie dense in the evening, like biscuits, when I run out of energy. At it's worst, you get the shakes as your blood sugar plummets and then you have to stick a spoon of honey in your mouth or something. That's not ideal at all.

TLDR - eat more. It's good for recovery and balanced energy levels.
Thanks both, I don't really know much about all this stuff but I've been eating the same sort of levels for the past couple of weeks and I feel ok on it. My activity levels can vary between sitting at a desk all day to being on my feet walking around and then in the evening I'm varying between being in the gym (half hour on a cross trainer, some weights and rower), spin class (about an hour) and swimming (I did 2k meters in an hour on wed). So generally burning 600-800 calories.

Totals calorie intake has been 1,460 and I've earned an extra 410 through walking around all day so I'm 610 in deficit. I was going to spinning tonight but I've sacked it off and put my feet up. I've done 4 hours of proper exercise this week so I think I'll be ok with having a night off.

Got the fancy new Bluetooth scales, dead easy to set up

Weighing a bit heavier on these, 16.13.2 but it is the end of the day, have just eaten steak and chips and drank a pint of water, so probably similar,

Measure Value Its comments

BMI 32.1 Obese
Body Fat 30.9 % Yeah, Obese again
Fat Free Weight 11st 9 No Comment but guess that means that I couldn't go below that weight ?
Subcutaneous fat 26.7 % High
Visceral Fat 14 High
Body Water 49 % Low
Skeletal Muscle 44.6 % Low, should be 49 percent or more apparently ? mechanical system of our limbs
Muscle Mass 11 st 1 High (Total Muscle weight, including skeletal muscle, cardiac and smooth muscle)(
Bone Mass 8.2 pounds Average
Protein 15.8 % Low, says "Protein plays a valuable role int he body as it builds and maintains muscles organs and other tissues)
BMR 1975 kcal Below average, dont know ow you have a below average BMR ?
Metabolic age 54 Im 48 frown

Changed it to "Athlete"

Measure Value Its comments

BMI 32.2 Moe or less the same
Body Fat 19.6% Says Acceptable this time but I am definitely more than 19.6 I think
Fat Free Weight 13st 9 Hmm, 2 stone of extra muscle in one setting !
Subcutaneous fat 15.8 % Standard
Visceral Fat 14 High, same
Body Water 58.1 % Now Normal instead of low
Skeletal Muscle 52 % Now Standard instead of high
Muscle Mass 12 st 13 High again (Total Muscle weight, including skeletal muscle, cardiac and smooth muscle)(
Bone Mass 9.6 pounds Still Average
Protein 18.3 % Now Adequate, was low
BMR 2240 kcal Now Above average
Metabolic age 52 Down by 2 years.

Its says, regarding athlete mode,

"This mode is suitable for people who have long been engaged in physical exercise or who regularly exercise, this model will adjust the body composition calculation model (only applicable to peop,el aged 18 or above)."

So, does three time a week at the gym for the last three years qualify, will err on the side of not setting it.

More excuses for me! This time its a good one...torn ligaments in my back frown.

Plus side, it hurts to reach anything that isn't waist height, all the food is above or below that so I can't get any of it! Downside...I can't move or get to the gym! (can't even go for a walk!).

Weigh in day for me this morning, 122.2kg so down another 0.7kg since Monday, -4.5kg since the 4th January.

Have a stag “day” today which may be a little more difficult, will just stay on the Gin I think but doubt I’ll escape at Meat Mission later!

As predicted I've had a blowout first night away, big meal and several pints, actually felt quite ill last night, having not been used to the amount of food intake, not nice, and feeling rather guilty.

Amazing the difference between and evening weight and morning, 16 st 13.2 last night, 16 st 7.8 this morning which is the lightest I have been this year, not even been for a dump either, so it is slowly working.

The scales seem to work as expected, get on, they weigh you and squirt the data to the phone you have set up, very easy.

Had a naughty night last night. Very annoying. But I'm not too fussed if I can restrict it to the occasional night.

Will have to compensate it by doing some heavy lifting later today. Got my weekly weigh-in tomorrow morning.

Not from me, I did another spin class this afternoon. My downfall will be the 2 week all inclusive cruise I'm going on in a months time. There's a gym on board though so I'm going to try and offset the massive amount of calories I'm likely to consume.

Well tonight hasn’t gone to plan. My wife has been working away and came home this afternoon to surprise me. So after a super healthy day eating we have gone out for a few drinks.

2x vodka with Diet Coke, 1x peroni, 1xcorona and 1x desperado. Even with my healthy eating all day I’m over my MFP recommendation of 1820 calories by 200 calories.

Oh well at least I got to have a night out with the wife which I really enjoyed. Back on it tomorrow. 200 calories extra to lose tomorrow so that makes my allowance tomorrow to 1630.

I managed to stay somewhat on track today. Would normally be pizza night, but we made our own using WW wholemeal wraps and light cheese, and you know what? It was alright. Was never going to live up to a proper takeaway, but I'm feeling way less bloated.

I caught a look at myself on a video my mate took on a bike test ride today, and normally I pick up that I look fat in videos, but I thought I looked healthier today, so a positive step!

Well I really fell off the wagon tonight. Another 2 desperado and a chicken wrap from the takeaway. I must be 2k calories over my allowance. Disgusted with myself is a massive understatement. Well nothing can be done about it now at 0130. Just going to have to be super healthy for the rest of the week. ( Should be easier as the wife has to leave early for work in the morning so I can get back on it.).

:-( :-(

I'm still dropping. I'm down from 14st to 13st 5lb and that's without doing the exercise I'd planned to do.

I've still managed a few 'healthy' takeaways too - chow mien, chicken kebabs etc, but still zero alcohol.
