Reaching a point currently that my weight on the scales has not changed much this week (mainly owing to a stag and birthday meal - where I tried to show some restraint!) but my clothes are noticeably more baggy and my trousers now require a belt....lets hope it's just me needing a poo or something and it all actually shows on the scales soon!!!!

89.13kg this morning, down ~500g from last week.

I'm unable to edit the table at the moment.

Down 0.4kg, but at least I'm back below my starting weight. Stinking cold hasn't helped with training the last few days.

8.1lbs down at 339.1lbs since the start (over 365lb when I started to make an effort), nearly the lowest I've been in a decade.

Getting to 300lbs would make a significant difference to me (my interim target) and I might even get to fit into my new ska t-shirts.

True story anyone...? hehe

Decent day today; porridge with blueberries for breakfast, wholemeal wrap with salt beef and salad for lunch, low(er) calorie pastry pizza for dinner with a wad of salad.

Alas I am currently on the train, off in to town to sink a few with mate paperbag

These turned up on the desk next to me today - as tough as it was to resist, I ended up not having any!
Today's diet has been ok:
Breakfast was omelette with tomato and peppers
Lunch was jacket potato with baked beans and a bit of chickpea salad
Snack (before 2 gym classes) was a high protein nut bar
Dinner was a pack of some chickpea curry thing, and I added a load of green peas and some Quorn chicken bits. No rice or bread.

Weigh in this weekend

It's around the 3 week point where people start flouncing on their diets because the weekly losses get much smaller and it all becomes too much effort for such tiny losses. The gyms start returning to normal levels as well as all the fatties get bored and give up and go back to stuffing their fat faces with pies and cake.

I am disappointed with my 0.6 kg loss this week. I want to aim for a stone a month (6.35 kg) which averages out at 1.5 kg per week. It's doable on a keto diet as I'm doing but still needs a decent amount of activity/exercise for the body to 'burn' the stored fat and I'm still spending far too much time sat about not moving much instead of being sat on the rower irked . More effort needed yes .

That's some seriously strong willpower to resist all those Earl! All 7 of those would have probably gone in my belly if someone had put them down in front of me! hehe

Official weigh in day for me tomorrow, I'm currently in the pub but I'm nursing my pint. I've been here for just over an hour and a half and I'm still on my first. Normally they last less than 30 mins.

MFP says I still have 38 calories for the day left so I may have a peanut.

I'm starting to get used to it again, so i'm not as hungry between meals, which is when I used to snack. I usually allow myself a treat on weigh day if I've shown a loss, but I find that helps keep the serious cravings at bay.

Weigh in tomorrow morning!

Really struggled today at about 15:30, work was quiet, I was bored, when I'm bored I'm hungry.

I managed to eek it out until about 16:00 and went to the Sainsburys Local, I picked up a Dairy Milk whole nut, turned it over and looked at the calories; 246, I put it back turned round to the fridge and spied a large sausage roll (I'm much more of a savoury person), I know they are high in calories; 476, I put it back, looked at the crisps and then picked up a mint Aero; mainly air so should be relatively low in calories; 196, I had it and it helped with the hunger, plus my little jaunt made 20 minutes go by.

Overall today though I've only consumed 1426 calories and that includes a bit of white chocolate too so I'm happy.

Had a lovely dinner; piece of cod grilled, some herby new potatoes, a cherry tomato and garlic salsa/sauce thing and green beans; all in, only 326 calories.

It can be quite shocking to discover just how many calories are in stuff when you start a diet. I can confess to having scoffed a 16" deep pan pepperoni in one sitting, but then straight after that had not one but TWO full 500ml tubs of Haagen Dazs ice cream to polish it off! Out of curiosity I just had a look at the calories. Best comparion for the pizza from my local take-away is Dominos large Pepperoni Passion which comes in at just over 2700 (!) calories for the entire thing. The tubs of ice cream are 1175 and 1270 respectively. 5145 calories in a day yikes and I hardly used to do any exercise. No wonder I've ended up a fat fk! getmecoat The above happened rarely but if I'd had a rough day at work on a Friday and not had anything to eat through the day that was often my 'fix' as the Sainsburys local is right next door to the take-away.

It’s terrifying how calorific some food is. Reckon I might have been putting away between 3000/ 3500 calories a day up until I decided to take action.

On 1500 a day and hitting the macros nearly bang on. Get pretty hungry but seems manageable. Not eating back the calories burnt off by the gym either so hopefully the scales will carry on going one way.

Amazed by how many on here are still having regular beverages. Alcohol is not exactly helpful in shifting the lard...

It's just some people's way of staying on the rails by giving themselves an occasional 'treat'. Beer/alcohol is very hard to just quit if you've been a regular drinker for years, and even more so if you do a lot of socialising.

Personally I don't think I'd be able to stay on the rails if I was doing a non-keto diet. I've tried 'clean' eating with salads/rabbit food and cutting right down on all the 'bad' stuff, also tried Weight Watchers and Slimming World 'meal' shakes but half an hour later I'm hungry again and have my head in the fridge looking for something tasty to eat. I can maintain a keto diet reasonably easily as once you're properly in ketosis you lose the hunger pangs and the cravings so it works for me but it won't suit everyone.

Well it’s weigh in morning for me.

Last Friday 239lb. Today, 239lb. Had a bit of a bad Saturday but I have been under calories every other day. Exercise level is still low (got let down twice by a friend who was going to play badminton but had a family and work issue).

A little disappointed but being positive it’s not a gain which is important.

Off to the Peak District next week for a week of walking so hopefully the extra calories burnt should help. I will update the table when next on my computer as it doesn’t always seem to work with the phone.

I've managed to stay off the booze and I've not really missed it and haven't found it hard, I was a big drinker but at home and not socially as I'm not a huge social person, I was knocking back 80-100 units a week and it worked out at approx 7000 calories per week.

My diet has ways been reasonably OK, generally around 1600 calories per day in food; sometimes higher, sometimes lower, I don't eat junk, I rarely have takeaways, rarely eat out; it's always been poached egg for breakfast, home made salad for lunch and the vast majority of the time an evening meal made from scratch and I rarely snack, my downfall was booze, I hit 108 kg over Christmas after a binge day, the previous year the highest I ever got to was 102kg, Jan the 1st this year I was 106.7kg.

Was saying to the wife just a few days ago that dad died unexpectedly at 65; I'm 44 so he died only 20 years older than I am now, he wasn't particularly healthy, he had health issues; not all due to diet or drink, some he couldn't help, however he liked a drink and struggled with his mobility, my sister is 4 years younger than me, she isn't the healthiest person, she has sleep apnea (as did dad), she is obese and her diet isn't great and she loves Coke (it's all she drinks), I think I've had a bit of a wake up really and I'm still young enough to do something before it's too late, hence, I think, why dropping the booze as I've done, I haven't found it difficult or particularly missed it.

So my 1 stone weight loss in 3 weeks has pretty much been down to not drinking and making a bit more of an effort to get out; normally after dinner I'd flop infront of the TV with a drink, however now I've been taking 1 of our dogs out for 30-40 minutes instead.

Who's to say after January I won't start drinking again, if I do I want it only to be a weekend thing, however I've said that before, it creeps back up and my weight goes up, however I think I have a different mindset this time, I'm liking seeing my weight go down daily (I know it will slow), I'm feeling tonnes better, I feel far more positive, I have it in my mind that I won't drink at all in February too, long may it continue.

Something we talk about when coaching young athletes is "eat well 90% of the time," because trying to healthy 100% of the time more than likely leads to burning out, and that's when blow outs happen and entire cakes get demolished.

I've not been great the last week, but limited myself to 2 pints last night [which, owing to my reduced calorie intake still had quite an effect hehe ]. Kept me within 100 calories of my goal for the day, and still comfortably under maintenance calories for my weight.

I don't deny that alcohol is/can be a particular evil when it comes to weight, but I'm not going to stay off it the rest of my life. If its going to be a feature of the rest of my life, there's no point in completely excluding it for the sake of a quick win on the scales and piling the weight back on. Zero carb / keto / caveman / fasting / juice / celery are all fine and dandy for dropping beef quickly, but I'd rather change my lifestyle and diet that goes along with it to something I can sustain once at desired weight.

Not 'official' weigh-ins but yesterday and today below 75 kgs for the first time in decades. Yesterday 74.2 and today 74.6 kgs. party
Not sure what's made the biggest difference but quitting alcohol has to be up there, plus no fruit/veg for the last few weeks. I've been to the gym just twice since Christmas, which is a shame, but busy then a week in Sunny Lanzarote put paid to that.

Another 1.4kg (3lb) off for me this week. I'm happy with that if I can lose another 2.5lb by the 30th I will have lost a stone in a month.

Guys!

So many people on this thread are finding it difficult to lose weight by reducing calories alone. You’re feeling hungry, it’s difficult to maintain because of the desire to eat and you’re not losing any weight. It won’t be long before you give up because it’s not working.

If you are not losing weight by calorie reduction alone it’s probably because you are insulin resistant. This means you produce more insulin than you should. Over production of insulin causes fat retention whatever your calorie intake (unless you starve). It’s probably why you are overweight now. You are probably well on your way to diabetes. You may be ‘pre-diabetic’ now.

The ONLY way to lose weight (without starving) is to reduce your insulin levels. The ONLY way to do this is to reduce your carbs massively. The quickest way to lose weight is to reduce your daily NET carbs to under 20g and put your body in to Ketosis where it shifts from using carbs to fat for energy. If you do this you WILL lose weight. Make sure you eat enough good fat though to prevent the hunger.

Alcohol also increases your insulin production, so best to keep off it if you want those weight.

Once you lose weight from around your organs (liver & pancreas), that are over producing insulin now, your insulin levels will return to normal as your organs begin to function normally. The way to maintain your weight loss is then to keep an eye on your carbs.

Check out the Keto threads for loads more information and evidence.

Apologies for teaching some to suck eggs, but it’s painfully apparent that there are so many people on this thread wasting their time due to a lack of fundamental understanding of how their body is working. .

All of the above based on personal experience and lots of research.

I’m down 10lbs in just over 2 weeks and now dropping around 2-3lbs a week being well in to Keto. I was diagnosed diabetic 2 years ago but am managing it without medication through weight loss, exercise and minimising carb intake. Not easy but the alternative of having diabetes and the reduced lifespan is a sufficient motivation.

Best of luck guys.
