Work food for the past two days has been:

Breakfast - Red grapefruit (no sugar or anything)

Lunch - Protein Ryvitas (1 pack of 4 - 150 calories), 15 green olives, 90g of "lightest" philidelphia (90 calories)

Afternoon snack - Braeburn apple

Not been feeling hungry at all really!

Weighed in with a loss of a pound today, so I'm happy with that. Back down to my 'pre injury' weight with only 8lb left until my initial target. I'm hoping for 1lb a week until then.

Anyone else do "intermittent fasting", I do, the 16/4 apparently, though i just call it not having breakfast.

Had dinner last night at about 6.45, incidentally was quite a nice, fairly healthy meal, baked Potato topped with Leeks, Tomatoes and Cheese, you fling the leeks and stuff in a dish and roast it for 40 mins.

Just had lunch at 12, so 16 or so hours later, went to bed peckish but purposefully didnt have anything, woke up and am not bothered, get to ten and get a bit hungry but can hold out by having a brew, then got a sandwich and some soup.

I find if I eat a bowl of cereal first thing I am way hungrier and feel worse than if I have had nothing, most cereals really are bad arent they ?

Do it maybe 3 or 4 days a week.

Phil.

Is this a testing kit type thing available from pharmacies?

I can shed weight via the usual in<out channels, my Mrs is getting rather disheartened at the lack of progress despite being on a similar calorie reduction.

I have actually spoken to her about carb reduction before but might have better traction this way.
It’s difficult to measure insulin resistance per se. The easiest indicator to measure is blood glucose level.

Test in the morning before eating/drinking, at least 12 hours after last eating the night before. Also test 2 hours after eating a meal. The glucose levels should be well below 7 mmol/L and preferably lower in the morning (below 6). If they are higher or close to this range then a blood test at the docs will provide certainty. Alternatively pop along to the docs in the first place for a blood check.

For a good cheap and accurate glucose meter I recommend the TEE2+

I tried this when I was traveling but it was a pain in the balls.

Espcially when you're going out for meals and everyone looks at you with sheer disbelief that you're not eating something for free.

I tend to not eat between dinner and lunch the next day, which I believe is a version of IF

...
16/8 or 20/4?
I started out the same when I started IF; skipping breakfast. I now skip lunch most weekdays too so pretty much OMAD.
Never (ok, rarely) hungry before I get home for dinner. My one meal tends to be fairly substantial, plus I have cheeses and/or cold meats to finish.
One the odd occasion I've felt hungry at my lunch break I just pop out and get some roast chicken from supermarket. Fills the gap nicely; five thighs for £3 IIRC.

I make it further without feeling hungry by skipping breakfast too, I ate a snack today at 10 but it was out of habit rather than hunger. I need to break these habits. Likewise I am still eating too late, largely because kids stay up too late and I snack after they go to sleep.

Was told at work I'm going to China next month for a week. I'm not dieting there, so might try and amp my weight reduction now, so I don't have to worry too much when I'm there counting calories.

Just enjoy it but try not to go too far off the rails, I used to go to the states 3 or 4 times a year and invariably went mental, hotel breakfast, lunch brought in (sandwich box, massive sandwich, big bag of crisps and a huge, gooey and delicious cookie) or we went out, then back tot he hotel for the free "managers reception" beers at six, quick shower and out for a few more and a meal. Remember on rare staying in nights going off to get a Pizza and the smallest one was as big as my rental cars steering wheel, could only eat half as it was two inches deep in processed meat and washed down with a bottle of wine.

Then wondered why I had put half a stone on in a week.

I have been fasting but not on purpose, it is my default position to not eat breakfast and regularly not lunch. 2 meals a day does seem to make a difference though, I can always tell when I haven't eaten lunch as come 4ish I fancy a nap hehe

I will confess, I had a pizza last night from Dominos and it was just oh so wonderful especially after three days of salad and three weeks of well behaved eating. It was however this one at under 650 cals, which given I hadn't eaten all day was fine.

AK8 is doing it according to the table and is posting some (comparatively) big losses, however I'm a tad skeptical as he hasn't posted any supporting evidence from his scales here. scratchchin

Late check In... Up 0.1kg again this week. Not as bad as I expected to be honest. We're due a baby any day now so eating right and exercise has been very low on my priority list. I'll try and get to the gym tomorrow.

Wow its all got a bit technical in here today.

I'm just going to carry on as I am I think, breakfast is where my biggest calorie intake is. Cereals at about 350, milk at 40.

I also make a smoothie from scratch from a kiwi, big hand full of spinach, milled flax seed, chia seed, some frozen fruit blueberry/pineapple/raspberry depends on what's on offer all mixed up with some sort of pure juice. MFP puts this at about 270 calories

My other meals are around 350 - 450calories.

I've also managed to curtail snacks and I've been putting a lot of effort in at the leisure centre. The weight is coming off so it's working for me

I had a Pizza Express shop bought Pizza tonight, augmented with a load of veg and Jalapenos and some extra cheese, so 950 cals or thereabouts (800 as standard) A Muller Rice at 207, had a sandwich at lunch (440) and some soup, 200 at the very most.

So, maybe 1850 cals with a few coffees, and an hour at the gym, actually undershot my 2000 cals a bit but not hungry so no need to eat anything else today.

Calorie counting isnt the be all and end all but its good for gauging how much you are eating, but tomorrow I will eat better stuff.

"Thesprucegoose 5ft 8 03/01/19 108kg 24/01/19 111 +1 kilo still up but slow and steady,"

Are you actually putting any effort into this? How can you possibly be 3 weeks in without having lost anthing at all?! You must still be shovelling in pies and cake? hehe

And what the heck does "slow and steady" mean when you're putting on weight and not losing it? You do realise this is a weight LOSS thread right? wink

I’m going to have to own up to being a right div. I got up this morning weighed myself and updated the table only to realise about lunchtime that it’s thursday today not Friday which is my weekly weigh in day. What a bloody prat.

Off to chubby chasers club in a while for my public weighing. Hoping for a decent loss, unexpected people have started to comment about me losing weight when they see me (I must have been grotesque before biggrin ). Could do with it coming off my tummy rather than my face! Put on loads second half of last year so currently seems easy to drop that, and then I'll start working on the excess I was already lugging around with me!

Down 3.3 kgs as of this morning which is 4.2% of my starting bodyweight. Pleased with that.
Will be measuring my waist tomorrow to see if that's gone down too - feels like my belts may be a little looser, not quite a hole, IYSWIM.
