YouTuber “Supercars of London” is a bad nail biter!

I used to be very very bad but cold turkey 3 years ago; will never start again. I used stop n grow. It worked

Like many others, I've bitten mine since I can remember.

It is horrible agreed but like others, when stressed or anxious it just happens.

I do keep them clipped really short to try & stop me doing it now.

I really cracked down on my kids for it & thankfully they seem to have grown out of it, they'll occassionally take a pop at me for it now.

I was a serial nail biter, to the point they'd bleed. I just stopped one day as I was fed up of pain from water on my fingers.

Now, I have very strong thick nails that clippers struggle to go through! My cuticles, or what ever the skin that edges the nail, are still a mess, some 7 or so years later. I've tried special oils, creams etc, they just won't sort themselves out.

Here you guys go, unveil at your peril. For clarification this is when they're wet and swollen

That is a result of biting your skin?

I dont mean to pry, but you have posted a pic!

Are you using nail clippers on the skin of your fingers?

I don't mind smile

Yes, I think I could do Shakespeare's pound of flesh hehe

That pictures was from a year or two ago so they're a bit worse now but the nails are chewed to bits too

Its weird looking at other peoples bitten nails as they look so much like my own hehe

Oddly, I've noticed alot of clay modelers (busts etc) have very bitten hands

I don't think the Police would have any trouble finding you, leaving those fingerprints... hehe

Jesus, that really puts my lame ass effort into perspective!!! My problem is I occasionally bite too much skin off down the side of my nail and the flesh underneath pushes up out of the hole, this then takes ages to heal up and is very painful!!!!

I've bitten mine all my life. Also a cuticle biter. Tried the varnish stuff to little effect. Will also try and stop from today.

I bite mine and have done for as long as I can remember. I generally do it out of habit, but it certainly gets worse if I’m stressed out, progressing onto the skin around the sides of my thumbs in particular.

I too am going to try and stop from today, having read this thread.

Seems it can be passed on too - my son (4) doesn’t touch his nails, but we never have to trim my daughter’s (almost 2) nails as she bites and picks them herself. She does her toes too. hehe Saves her mother and me a job, but at the same time I can see she’ll end up like me when she’s older. hehe

I thought I was a fairly aggressive biter, until looking at that spoiler.

I am an absolute amateur, but I have done it for as long as I can remember.

Stopping was my NY resolution, but only lasted a month maybe.

Gonna also try and stop from today

I am now on day two. I keep finding my fingers in my mouth but so far have caught myself before any further damage was done.
