Im in. I have been to the shop just now to get batteries for the scales so will add myself to the wiki later. Expecting (hoping?) I will be circa 85kg . Target will be 70kg.

I need to get my eating in check. My diet is not terrible, but I think I just eat too much most of the time. I struggle to leave food to go to waste for example and I tend to always have a large dinner, regardless of how much I have eaten the rest of the day.

In past years I have concentrated on fitness too much. I get to the point where I can do an 80 mile cycle, and have lost some weight, but not much. I become fat fit I guess.

Rather than calorie counting, I am going to try and develop some new good habits. I think carbs dont suit me well, so going to limit these, cut out breakfast, limit all processed foods and try intermittent fasting also.

I took up running last year, as I find it easier to fit into my day than cycling. I just do a (fairly hilly) 5k route, which takes me about 29 mins currently. Will aim for at least 2 runs a week. I also play 5-a-side once a week and we recently got a puppy too, so I am walking a lot more.

Go on then, I'm in. Heaviest I've ever been by a couple of lbs.

Was 17st4lbs this morning, 109kg. I'm 5ft10. Always been heavy, even when I was bike racing back in the early 10's I was 12st7.

So, target is 15st for now. 95kg.

I feel I do more than the average person when it comes to exercise but gone are the days of 4-5hr bike rides on weekends, due to kids, but I have been running for a few years and covered just shy of 300 miles running and 1720 miles on the bike during 2019. Target is 400 miles running at the moment and 2000 miles on the bike. I started with a 10k yesterday morning. I also dog walk daily and cover in excess of 10000 steps every day.

However, despite the above, I still gain weight, and it can only be to do with the love of chocolate and crap in general I guess! Diet hasn't changed, but the weight has increased as I'm no longer doing 6k per year on my bike....

So, crap food has got to stop. Sweets and treats are to be limited. I'm also going to up the exercise a bit more, as shown by the targets above. I plan on smashing the running one, running more than ever is the plan. The wife is joining in losing weight too, but she can lose it really easily, I can't!

I find my Garmin watch a huge motivator, even just for the steps, so would recommend a tracker of some sorts to those interested. We already have a Garmin group, which I run. I don't really set up challenges these days, but could do some specific ones if people are interested, such as calories burned?

I've no idea how to update the wiki btw, so if someone could that would be appreciated.

Is that all it needs?

Can a long time lurker join?

I'm the king of losing weight (and subsequently putting it all back on). As an adult my weight has fluctuated between 11st and 22st 4lbs. The 11st was a bit of an anomaly as I was working as a builder's labourer having been kicked out of University. I've leaned more to the higher figure over the last few years having gone self-employed and working from home. The lack of exercise associated with actually going to work and no longer needing the discipline of fitting in to the same suit each day meant that my weight crept up from around 15st in 2008 (ex hooker and well built means that I looked pretty fit at that weight) to the 22st+ by 2014. I have then lost and regained the same 4st for the last 5 years.

Last January I started at 20st 12lb and had got down to 18st by May when I unfortunately developed Plantar Fasciitis in both feet. This completely curtailed my exercise of choice (walking) and the weight has all gone back on (plus the obligatory additional lb).

So here I am, 52, fat with fked feet looking to try again. Hopefully doing it here will help with the willpower.

I weighted today and I'm 20st 13lb - 133kg. I'm 5'11" so BMI is 41 (morbidly obese). For st and giggles I'll also add that my chest measurement is 52.5" and I'm 51" around the largest part of my belly!

My aim is to get below 16st by my Silver Wedding Anniversary Party at the beginning of May (hopefully the same weight or better that I was at the Wedding) and then, ultimately, lose 104lbs by Christmas. Might as well aim high! smile

Can I be added to the list by someone more capable than me?

Absolutely, I've added you to the Wiki! There's actually a thread started yesterday re. PF and potential solutions; might be helpful?

Cheers. Luckily I'm finally getting better. I've had the injections which did nothing and I'm currently waiting for scans but might not need them. I now wear inserts in everything (including my slippers) and since I started doing that (about 6 weeks ago) my left foot is pain free and my right is massively improved.

Updated mine! My last column is over about 4 years hope that's OK, in total I went at my heaviest from 114kg down to 64kg and now back up at 87kg (doh) although some of that is muscle.

I'm in.

36, 6'1, 94.9kg this morning - the heaviest I've ever been. Aiming to get down to approx 80kg by June/July.

I've previously found IF (500 cals) 2 days a week works for me. Calorie counting 1500/1800cals 7 days a week is a PITA, which leads to me getting sloppy, then giving up. I find a 5/2 setup easier to follow long term.

When I have tried to exercise the weight off before, I find my appetite goes through the roof, so planning to get it done mainly by diet, exercising mainly for fun (sea kayaking and hill walking).

Good luck everyone!

Funk, I'm worried I'll f**k up the table if I start playing with it so would you mind adding me in, please?

I'm GloverMart, 6'4" tall, weight at 01/01/20 was 121.9kg and since I started back on July 1st 2019, I have lost 22.7kg.

My "notes" are - "Aiming for 5k steps per day, eating sensibly, target to lose eight stone in a year".

Thanks a lot. thumbup

I’ll be back this year. Still more to lose but I got distracted last year by moving house and DIY things! I’ll update the wiki when next in front of a keyboard.

Ok, have added a 'lost to date' column at the end for the rolling total - how does that look to everyone?

scjgreen - I've altered your line too to match the new layout, are you happy with that?

Done; updating is easy from here, just find your line, change your current weight and loss so far and you should be fine!

I had a bit of a disheartening moment today at the gym as the damn FitQuest machine (see the 2019 thread...) continues to tell me I'm losing muscle and gaining fat (it reckons I've gained 1kg of fat and lost 1.5kg of muscle in the last week). The thing is, all the signs point the other way; my numbers are up on the weights and I'm really not sure why the readings are as they are. I've upped protein intake over the last week or so as the original thoughts were that it was possibly too low which could result in muscle breakdown when exercising and it not having enough to rebuild with. Maybe I've gone too far with the protein.

I'm sticking to the SW diet properly - eating the 'free' foods, plenty of veg, fruit etc, having my healthy choices and counting the 'syns' carefully (I even worked out the syn count for the Whey Isolate as it has a small carb content). My overall weight was down this week; something's fky and I don't know why. Be interesting to see what happens on the SW scales on Monday.

The FitQuest is also showing I'm not increasing my water % (despite increasing my water intake). Either SW is incompatible with what I'm doing at the gym and I need to change diet or the machine's just doling out questionable numbers. Either way it feels frustrating to be doing everything right (as far as I know) and still getting weird stats.

My gut (fnarr) feeling is to forget the machine, keep doing the right things (healthy eating, lots of exercise) and see where I end up.

slimming world. they catergorise food based on 'syn' points. you can't have more than a certain number of points a day. certain foods have 0 points such as fruit and veg, baked beans etc..
