Great that you are making progress but 4-5K calories burned through exercise per week is not that much- be careful what you eat!
Interesting.

That's 5-7 hours of cycling (training not just bimbling, mainly tempo/threshold rides) plus two rounds / seven hours of golf carrying my clubs each week. That's a reasonable volume and intensity of exercise for 52 year old isn't it?
Certainly reasonable and well ahead of govt guidelines, but it only nets you about 650 cals per day, which is roughly a bar of chocolate and a packet of crisps.

My only point is that burning 650 cals a day through exercise doesn’t give you free licence to ignore what you eat, which is I think what your post implied.

I'm 41 but when I was at the gym I was averaging a total burn of 4400 a day - here's a grab from the week before it all got shut down:

Roughly I was burning an extra 12,000 cals/week from training, doing 8-9 gym sessions a week.
Blimey Funk! Are you going back to the gym this week?

Not sure about the gym; I would like to get back to it but I have reservations about the risks at this stage. Technically I'm in a high-risk category for Covid19 and whilst it may be the case that at some stage we all have to risk having it etc I'm in no rush to accelerate that.

Meanwhile back to a loss on Monday's weigh-in - down another 1.5lbs (0.7kg) taking me to 19st 12lbs (126kg). Total lost is 7st 4.5lbs (46.6kg).

Slowly but surely... biggrin

Edit: spoke to my PT about the gym stuff - he reckons wait and see how it plays out. We're kicking off my sessions again tomorrow night but outdoors and getting back into training again after 4 months of....not. hehe

Coronageddon hasn’t been kind to me. Looking to lose 10kg of what is, basically, all beer gut. Given myself a 2 month target to get to 80kg. For ‘fun’ I do ultra runs which are basically a long, mobile picnic but the extra weight is seriously detrimental.

Late check-in for me from Monday - up 0.5lb, however it appears this was DOMS related from kicking off the training again last Thursday (I was actually up 4lbs on Saturday from last week!) with the muscles holding water. That put me back on 19st 12.5lbs (126.2kg) The training fking killed me and it wasn't even that intensive! hehe

However, a weigh-in this morning had me at 19st 10lbs which is more promising - it shows how complex the body's systems can be and why we should still look at our weight loss trends in the longer term.

3 weeks into lockdown it was getting silly packet of mini rolls with afternoon tea whole packet of cookies with 9pm tea etc weighed myself 16 stone 9lb a world record I thought if I carry on like this I will be over 17 stone which is nuts. Have a bad back at the moment so cannot train always thought without exercise along with diet you cannot lose weight but I had to have a go, 14 weeks later 14 stone 11lb 4 and a half inches off my tummy and feeling good im 6 foot.

Its all about the calories and you do not need as many as you think I reckon. mon to fri im on about 900 a day sat is junk about 3500 sunday about 1500 ...the 900 is 3 boiled eggs and toast morning evening meal large bowl of chicken and cheese salad plus a lot of nutritional supplements ie vits /minerals

Right then. Gym is reopening tomorrow at 8am and training from Monday next week. I am now officially back on board!

I weighed myself in readiness and I am now, quite unbelievably, 89.7kg.

This is the lightest I have been for 10 years of training and all I have done since the start of lockdown is sit on my arse all day, drinking far too much wine. Go figure.

I do know that this is going to hurt. A lot.

Back in it, and back towards my starting weight! was well on course to hit 80kg from 87kg before lockdown but then it took over and ended up at 90kg. Back at 87.7 yesterday.

I'm still here though more as an observer nowadays. frown

I got to my initial target (76Kg) a while back, then reduced it again to 70Kg which is roughly where I am now. At 67.9 yesterday morning which is fine for me and better than the 104.3 which I started at, though I'm tending to keep a constant check on it as I neither want nor need a relapse.

My exercise regime has been trashed the last few months due to the fact that I have to self isolate because of the medication I'm on for my heart. I've tried going for walks at various times of the day but usually have to cut them short due to the amount of people around. I do have a treadmill here but have now got to hating it with a passion, so it's barely being used. Most of my "keep fit" stuff has been down to thoroughly cleaning the car every time that a spot of dust dares to settle on it.

I'm proud of all you guys and what you're doing, especially in the current climate. It's never easy to diet but even harder at the moment. Good luck and keep up with it, it's worth it in the end. smile

Just ticking along here, few hundred grams lost a week, sometimes masked by food/drink weight and DOMS

Maximum respect Funk keep on chipping away at it mate.

I put on 6kgs during lockdown, shifting it is going to be an awful, painful, 6 week experience. I had shifted it all by the end of March and put it all back on during lockdown.

Cheers! I'm good with it coming off slower from here on in, I think it'll give me the best chance at mitigating loose skin although I'm fully expecting to have some. Next week is a whole year since I started Slimming World and although I'm only really giving a passing nod to the method these days (I'm now looking more at calories and - importantly - macros as part of my overall training and weightloss) it really helps keep me honest and accountable knowing I'll be weighing in 'officially' every Monday night.

While it's working for me, I'll continue to do it. smile I'm sure you'll shift that 6kg soon enough too, keep plugging away at it!

Edit: Just seen my BMI is now 38; it was 53 a year ago!

Still here.

My focus is elsewhere for the rest of this week and the beginning of next, but once that's out of the way I need to break my new lockdown habit of sitting on my arse and get back to reforming my old one. And it is just habit.

I've done a few MA sessions but in reality it's just been circuits. It's been great being back with everybody socially, but the classes are leaving me a little cold atm.

I haven't made it to the gym to restart lifting yet which is really disappointing. After next week I will have no more excuses anymore - once you get good at making excuses, it's hard to get good at anything else.

I'll come good, I just need to adjust back to my old ways again.

Also still here. Halfway through week 10 of a 12 week ‘body transformation’ thing I signed up for which ended up being a few pdfs of resistance band workouts and some videos showing the PT doing each exercise very quickly along with some simple nutrition stuff. Spoke to the PT about how his videos don’t show anything about correct form but he didn’t seem fussed.

Not worth the £250 I paid but I’ve persevered with it regardless. Annoyingly my weight hasn’t dropped but my gut has gotten a few inches smaller. The last 6 weeks all have a calorie limit of 8 calories per lb of bodyweight, works out at 1280 calories for me which is proving difficult to stick to.

He has a ‘phase 2’ plan which is seemingly more of the same at the same price. Won’t be signing up to that.

On the search for a reasonably priced weights bench and a few weights but It still seems to be silly season for fitness equipment. Was hoping prices would creep back down now gyms are open again. I have a barbell, dumbbell handles and about 40kg in weights in total. Just need to find a decent routine via either a YouTube series or a proper PT who can set me up with a plan to do from home

Still here but having put on 5-6kg, I think.

Got to the end of the year's challenge and thought "Sod it, I'm going to eat what I like for a month. I've been good for a year, time to let my hair down." Have done so, and managed to stick almost a stone on in the last five weeks or so. I'm not walking as much lately.... I started an online order pickers job at Sainsbury's which is 3am - 7am three mornings a week and it's killed my sleep pattern & I'm shattered most of the time. I walk about 3 miles a night but it's all short bursts rather than striding out for miles on end. Only for another nine days as I'm packing it in on Saturday week.

Got to get my head back around it quickly though because I have a 22 mile charity walk from Weston to Bristol on 5th September looming. Have only walked 13.5 miles in one go so far, need to do that again a couple of times & maybe a further walk too.

Good to see some great results still from Funk and to everyone keeping going, well done. It will be worth it in the end. thumbup

If you can make it to Scotch Corner, you can have my bench for a small donation to a charity of your choosing. It's too much of a PITA for me to find the packaging and post.

I bought three days before lockdown and used it twice laugh

It's this one but with different branding: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sportstech-Innovative-Erg...

hehe thanks. I’m now down to ~75kg, trying to tone up now rather than lose any more.

I’ve said it several times but I genuinely wouldn’t have done it without the encouragement of this thread, so much so that I’ve recommended it to several other people.

It’s good to see there’s still progress from other people too.

It’’s been a tough few months all round so it’s no surprise there’s been a few have fallen off the table but it’s never too late for anyone who has!
