After feeling the start of a cold yesterday, I tested positive this morning with the LFT showing a really strong T line. According to my wife that means the 'rona is well developed. After living like a hermit, working from home and going on camping trips, successfully dodged everything up until this past week when I braved the F1 in Barcelona. 4 flights (such is life in the provinces), various taxis and hot busses sat in 100F heat all could have been likely vectors. My mate who shared all the transport is fine though - he's never had it either.

Been really achy, sore head with an occasional cough. Sense of smell still works. Took the day off and slept for half of it. Hoping I can work tomorrow, but feeling that will be off the cards.

A previous poster mentioned HR; my resting is usually really good at ~50, at the moment its 80-100 and my Garmin is reporting sky high stress levels.

My wife has had it three times, and despite not keeping my distance from her (still slept in same bed, but avoided kissing) I never caught it from her. So I just assumed I was too dominating for the 'rona to get me (and I'm unvaxxed). Then I spend a day in the office with a colleague...and I get it!
It's weird. Doesn't make sense.
You kissed your colleague, didn't you?
Wonder where on the colleague the kiss was planted

How does a Garmin measure stress levels?

Me too. Perhaps it's a quirk of that particular LFT. And thank you.

In past from reading the reddit Garmin forums, it's something to do with measuring variance in heart beats. Which, apparently, is a proper medical thing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heart_rate_variabili... I'm no expert, but what the watch reports in stress and body battery statistics usually reflects how I feel.

Not tested as dont have any tests, but fairly sure i have it, been poorly since our trip to north west last week - thanks Manchester. Currently in isolation in property i'm trying to sell as not to pass it on to family since monday. sore throat terrible and headache which passed thursday, now constantly coughing and bringing up gilberts. thankfully rest of family so far fine.

not sure if it is rona but whatever it is wasnt pretty hence isolation and lucky enough to have that option. it does mean im posting nonsense on here to keep me occupied for the first time in a while though...

Just tested -ve after 7 days. Last thurs was burning up in bed, slept from 9pm - 9:30 am. Wife said I was like a radiator. Felt OK (apart from being tired) and today finally tested -ve which was a relief.

I do a bit of Am-dram and we're currently half-way through a play/comedy based on the flooding of Moreton village to make way for Chew Lake. It went through the cast like a dose of salts so we've had to postpone this weekend's last nights (tonight and tomorrow) until 10th/17th June !

We're nearing the end of a thankfully mild dose of it.

My gf came home early from a work event feeling a bit shivery and tested positive. I felt fine for a few days then slightly sore throat and head along with feeling a bit tired. Both still testing positive but feeling pretty much back to normal a week later.

Never felt properly ill but it must still take it out of you a bit - i had to stop for a rest on my normal dog walking hill this morning!

I now have CV19. I feel st, way worse than any vaccine side effect.

To make it worse I am stuck in a hotel 4 hrs from home, and wondering how to get home. Tube, train then car was the plan, but there is no way I am safe to drive, it even walk to the tube station.

I’d be pissed off but fell too crap to care.

Did the antigen test this morning, positive line showed up strong in 15 seconds. Does that mean a high viral load?

My symptoms started with a sore throat.
Next day sore'er throat and lacked energy to do much. Very quick and clear +ve on the lateral flow.
This continued for a couple of days.
By 5th day sore throat had gone, Slight cold like symptoms. Still lacking in energy. Going for my usual walks was a struggle. Feint +ve on the LFT.
By 7th day symptoms had gone.
Now 14 days on I can only manage walking about 3 or 4 miles. My usual 6 or 7 mile walks really take it out of me.

Worth another test if you have one, i only tested positive once the initial symptoms had almost gone.

Feel generally fine now but still struggling a bit with the steeper hills when out walking with the dog.

I'm at 4 weeks now since testing positive for the first time and can barely stay awake after 3pm if I've been working that day (admin, so looking at a screen all day). Still no smell and very little taste, still have a cough.

The nearest thing I can compare it with is when I had Myocarditis about 10 years ago, and had about 4 months after having serious post viral fatigue (could barely walk, had to nap all the time)

That sounds like the worst outcome I've heard of recently, and certainly far worse than mine, where it took about three weeks to regain full strength and about four to get decent stamina back.

How fit were you before you caught it?

Very! I'm not too bad out and about, I can walk a few miles, but it's concentration and focus on computer tasks that really is hitting me hard, completely wipes me out.

The doctor is only interested in signing me off as it can't be long COVID yet (too early) and I'm no longer positive, so I'm falling between the cracks a bit. I accepted being signed off last week but this week I went back, it's been really really tough though.

If I may ask a question, what is the point of testing for Covid now?

If it is just like a cold (of varying strength from individual to individual) and there is no specific treatment that is required, and (I think?) there is no isolation or similar action required by law...

... I don't understand the reason for finding out if it is Covid or not?

Is it just personal interest, to see if one's injections are working or are failing as per the various studies showing they fail quickly?

How are one's choice of treatment or decisions influenced differently if it is Covid?

You can take steps to reduce the risk of passing it on to others

The version I have at the moment is like a nasty flu with added deep cough. Fevers, no energy, massive headache, aching joints, throat like I’ve gargling sulphuric acid.

Why wouldn’t I want to try and avoid giving that to my friends and family?

As someone else said. Mainly to keep away from elderly relatives for a week or so, plus it's just interesting to know what's going on. It can still affect some people more than others.

I had mild COVID at the end of last year - no severe symptoms, and it didn't stop me working (from home).

However, some 7 or more months later, my sense of smell is still messed up. Some things like furniture polish or air freshener I can sense to some degree, but almost as a mild background odour. I frequently sense a musty smell in the air, but it's not a real odour (if I ask someone else if they can smell it, they can't).

Anyone else found this? Is there some way you can retrain your nose? smile

Serious question, albeit rather amusing topic, I guess.

I had COVID back in June of last year, I assume the delta variant. Ever since then I've noticed that certain smells.. are completely different. Namely excrement and I guess, farts? Stick with me, honestly.

Even now, any sort of 'poo' (even pig farm stuff) smells the same. It just smells like.. chemicals. Not unpleasant, just the sort of GCSE Chemistry lab sort of smell. I thought I was going mad initially, but it is still happening to this day and I can't think of another catalyst that could've triggered it. For the record, my taste appears absolutely fine and as a general rule 95% of 'smells' appear to be their normal, pre COVID versions.

I'm utterly perplexed, anybody ever come across this?

Edit: I don't make a habit of sniffing st, but I live rurally, and also after doing the business.. it lingers in the bathroom, I'm only human!

Edit Edit: Just Googled it and found a Reddit post with a ton of replies reporting the same. So strange! Always the same sickly sweet chemical sort of stench. I'm going to assume it's permanent, I doubt anybody has any answers.
