Anyone else had what might be the new B.4 or B.5 variant? Not many other symptoms other than extreme tiredness for a few days, plus bit achey/headachey but mostly just was sooooo tired.

A few of us have had it at work and home now. Doesn’t seem to show up positive on tests (maybe tried too early) but can’t see it’s anything else.

Be interested if anyone else had same.
With lack of PCR tests now it's going be hard for anyone to say which strian they've had. You'd assume anyone picking it up recently is getting those omicron sub strains.

My LFT came back positive immediately. I'd have been none the wiser but had a some still in the house. I felt really ill for about 24hrs. Another couple of days I felt fine then got really snotty and generally felt a bit meh for a week. Possibly as I got back to normal stuff a bit too soon and over did it.

I think that is the variant my wife and I and various friends and neighbours all have.

My wife had really severe symptoms. aches, shivers, clammy skin, sweats, headaches, nausea, and vomiting. So much that she phoned 111 and had a phone call from a GP. He told her that most cases in our (Greater Glasgow) area are the new variants.

We are both vacced and boosted. Not knowingly had covid before. Age early 60s. My symtoms were milder. Sneeze, runny nose, mild flu for 48 hours. Now in Day 5 still fatigued but appetite normal.

Going by the experiences of friends and neighbours, mostly 50s and 60s ages symtoms severity varies quite a bit but not as bad as full blown flu.

I've had that twice. Both times I couldn't get out my bed for two days. This was closer to a bad cold than flu for me. Still testing pos. My work have said two days clear before I go back. I share a car with someone at work.

My lateral flow was positive before symptoms. I don't do regular tests but tested after someone I was at lunch with 2 days earlier told me they were positive.

I finally managed to catch a dose last week, went from a slightly gritty throat on Tuesday (which I'd put down to inhaling something while stripping the suspension off the Mini) to bunged up with a sore head come Wed morning.

LFT on Wed gave a really feint line, although this was when I felt the worst - fatigued, sore head, achy knees and shoulders, and a belter of a fever. The fever cleared up overnight along with the aches and I've slowly got rid of the snottery nose and cough. Cough is still here today but a lot better. Interestingly the LFT I took on Friday was a very obvious dark line, and yesterday's is back to feint.

Managed to speak to my next-door neighbours today - well, shouted at them from about 25ft away (houses are all detached) - the husband also had covid, came down with it on Wed as well. His aunt & uncle who live in the same street are also both full of it as well, along with the woman across the road from me.

I'm pretty much feeling like normal with just the cough to get rid of. That, and a change to my taste/smell which developed on Saturday, I can't really smell much unless I take a really big sniff, and I'm constantly smelling what my brain is deciphering as cooked sausages! hehe Not much appetite as a result but that'll help me get back on track with the weight loss thread thumbup

Just tested negativebiggrin

Still feel a little rough and as advised here will continue to take it easy for a few days.

Had aches last Thursday, an explosion of the “classic” symptoms on Fri, tested positive Sat and spent the weekend feeling particularly dreadful.

My first brush with Covid (AFAIK) and taken aback by how severe it was given the narrative that current variants are “mild”.

For info I’m 55 but fit, don’t drink and exercise daily. And it knocked me for six…

I had it in November, horrible experience but fine after. My 20 yr old son now has it, first time really sore throat awful fever and really tired and achy. Not like him to complain at all.

Feint line on test too. He was fine all weekend then felt awful Sunday evening.

Other work colleagues and friends have it too.

Seems to be people who haven’t had it yet.

I brought a cough back from Le Mans that turned out to be covid. Luckily that was the worst it got, no fever and I think my OH had worse hayfever. 1st time with Covid and I've always worried how it would affect me being immune suppressed. Took a while to test negative though.
A lot of my OH's company have tested positive after their work outing to Barcelona and they only knew after testing before going into the office.

Still strikes me as weird as to how it effects people in different ways. and because so many have it without knowing it's inevitable that everyone will catch it at some point because if you're not feeling ill you're not going to isolate/stay at home.

My lines were bold and showed up quickly and that's meant to be a high viral load/very infectious?

Well, I've only gone and catched it!

My wife and I went up to that there London town on Friday. Big 'Green Day' gig at West Ham's London Stadium that night, spent that night in a Travelodge at Mile End, then had a late breakfast at the Byward Tower restaurant after viewing the "superbloom" in the Tower Of London moat. Then off to the Theatre Royal for Afternoon Tea. So a great many possibilities for exposure to someone with Covid over the two days.

Felt OK come Sunday morning. Went out to pick up a 'meal deal' at M&S for my wife toward the middle of the day. Initial symptoms were dismissed as "a heavy weekend followed by overeating" to begin with. Slept in the marital bed too on Sunday night, so every chance of passing it to my wife. Still felt OK, didn't think it was Covid. At least not until mid-Monday. Top half of my head felt solid, sweats alternating with shivers, and a consistent dry cough. I went to bed and slept, but managed to get up to put the bins out. Then back to bed, slept on-and-off all night, and up until about midday today (Tuesday).

Currently? I'm sleeping in what was my youngest son's bedroom. He's in Japan for a year so it was going spare. Even though my wife seems to have escaped infection it felt like the sensible way to play it. My wife is a nurse so was testing periodically (Lateral Flow) for work and had a few tests kicking around. We each did one this afternoon. Mine shot up to show a strong 'Positive For Infection' line within about a minute. Hers showed 'Negative' still.

It's a bit of a st-show to be fair. She's had corrective surgery for bunions on both feet so is supposed to be taking things easy. I was doing all the cooking, cleaning, and shopping, etc. Now she's hobbling about trying to nursemaid me as well as keep off her feet as much as possible. I'm kicking myself too. I've not had physical contact with anyone, but being cooped up in tube trains all weekend can't have been ideal. Torturing myself about where I picked it up won't help, I know. But I wish I could narrow it down to a place or a person.

As for symptoms? It would appear that the fever's back is broke, and lasted about 24 hours. I'd say at it's peak it was like "proper flu". Now more like a mild cold. Sniffles, cough, sore throat, headache, plus some weakness in the limbs. I'm 51, pretty fit, don't drink or smoke. I was double vaccinated, but no boosters.

The plan now? Batten down the hatches for a while. An on-line shopping order has just gone in, we have a milkman so we'll be OK for basics like bread, and there are some options in the freezer to keep us going for a while. I'm trying to stay clear of my wife, in the hope that she can remain covid-free. The car could do with a tank of diesel, though, so I hope I don't come out of my period of isolation to find that it has doubled in price to £4 per litre while I was hibernating!

I'm 54, jabbed, and it's got me!

Went out last tuesday night for dinner and to see Top Gun with my girlfriend.
Went to bed tues night feeling fine, woke up weds 5am freezing cold and shaking after having the most awful nightmare.
Spent most of weds in bed, went to work thurs/fri, but a real struggle.
Constant sweats and pounding headache.
Felt a bit better over the weekend and by monday the sweats had gone.
Now I have a large lump/ulcer type thing on the roof of my mouth, and my neck is killing me. Also feel very tired.
I'm glad I was jabbed!

Anyone else had the neck pain and or lump/ulcer in the upper mouth?

9 days testing positive, days 7 through 9 progressively lighter shade stripe on positive line to almost non existant, day 10 test negative.

I'm well and truly in the vulnerable category - and to be honest, I've had worse hangovers. It was a slight cold for almost two weeks, compounded with hey fever.

After 2.5 years it’s finally got me.

Yesterday, I returned to Marbella after a 6 days with 2 mates delivering a yacht from Gib to Murcia… owner felt a bit grotty last day and a half, tested positive when he got back to the UK yesterday evening. I had a scratchy throat when I woke up this morning and tested positive this afternoon. Scratchy throat has now gone and don’t feel anything but normal.

Well, my children had it in April and despite them coughing in my face for a week I managed to avoid catching it - as well as multiple exposures to others with it.

But now it’s got me. I’d describe it as a mild cold starting on Tuesday with some very mild flu symptoms thrown in. Just left with dizziness, a bit of a cough, a slight headache and a blocked nose (and no taste). Weirdly, it’s exactly the same feeling and symptoms as the ‘cold’ I had when I came back from Asia at Christmas 2019 - particularly the bunged up sinuses with loss of taste without a runny nose. I would put good money on me having had Covid in December ‘19.

This thread is boring AF.

Can we set up a rule where you only post if your dying in hospital please.

Posting that you had a cold is not interesting.

I don’t suppose the people on ventilators feel like shooting the breeze on PH so much.

It is boring, you’re right. But it gives a good indication as to what people experience when they catch it which, on the whole, is not a lot. Covid is over (unless you live in Asia).

Relative had it last week then someone in the my household thought it was a great idea to call round to the other relatives house and wear a mask. So last Friday I've got a cough and then Sunday took a test and it's come back positive. I've had worse colds, no sore throats and no aches of pains not at all unpleasant.

Four days on and the boredom of being stuck inside is the worst. I'm a relatively healthy 30 something. Also I'm completely unvaccinated, not trying to point score just thought I'd mention it.

I’m seeing more masks around in the last few days.

Presumably these are people who are reacting to something …

Displaying long term mental health problems because of the fear created by the 'experts' over the last 2 years?

Symptoms started Monday, and positive test. Managed to avoid it thus far but not too surprising as we went mad on crowds at rock concerts last week.

Just cold symptoms so far with lethargy, although today day 5 I’m starting to lose my smell and taste. Whatever else happens I don’t want to be one of those who doesn’t get it back and/or gets long Covid lack of stamina as I just love eating, drinking and moving!

Mind you the Stones were f’ing awesome, experience of a lifetime, so probably all worth it!

Not felt 100% for the last couple of days, occasional slightly tickly cough, slightly running nose and most annoyingly a slight headache.

We went out to the 02 on Tuesday and I don't know why but I had a slight inkling this might be Covid, but I had a cold a month ago that was 10 times worse than this and that wasn't Covid.

I did one of the free tests, and pretty much instantly two red lines appeared.

Basically it's like having the weakest cold I have ever had in my life, so glad we locked the country down for 18 months, spent £500 billion and destroyed the economy for this.

Currently trying to persuade my girlfriend that I should spend the weekend in bed watching the F1 whilst she brings me drinks and food whenever I want. Not sure she is buying it
