I’m pissed off.

I have Covid again, and this time it’s worse than last time.

Completely lost my sense of smell and taste, something I’ve never experienced before, which is a very odd and unpleasant sensation. I’m aching all over. Can’t stop coughing, and I feel like I’ve been hit by a bus.

Like I said last time, it’s just nothing more than a waste of a week.
Get some Lemsip Max. You’ll feel better within an hour smile

Over two weeks ago I blew negative for Covid after a week or so of positives.

I've still got problems with the ability to smell, although it occasionally returns for an hour or so. Food tastes odd, and not at all pleasant. This is over two weeks after the illness.

Yesterday I went to Brands Hatch, parked on South Bank, walked to the Paddock, and felt dizzy, exhausted, and had a high pulse rate. On walking back to my car, I felt quite tired and had difficulty walking. I sat in my car for an hour and a half before feeling able to walk again. This morning I got cramp in a calf. Never pleasant.

Not sure Lemsip would help.

This is my second bout with the disease, and I'm coming off second best.

I've gone through a full box of it already hehe

I'm just annoyed by it all, as I've always been one of these boring sods who would say things like "I've had 1 sick day off work in the last 5 years" etc but last year when I was ill, I predicted that Covid would probably now mean a full week of feeling like absolute crap and probably being off work, every year from now on, and so far, I am unfortunately correct.

I hope you are feeling fully recovered soon Derek. My manager at work had Covid 18 months ago and still hasn't regained his sense of smell or taste, something he is particularly upset about being a wine and fine dining enthusiast.

Sounds like getting Covid is a good way to save some money if eating any old crap tastes the same as shopping at Waitrose hehe lol

Thanks for that; first sentence especially.

Hopefully it will go. It appears, via the internet searches, that your manager is extremely unlucky, especially so given his hobbies. My wife's an excellent cook and is going a bit wild with sauces. I can taste 'hot' so it is a variation. The sense of smell seems to return on occasion, but it needs distance. I can stick my nose in food without sensing anything, yet could smell it cooking. Happened twice. Beginning to irritate.

I've just tested positive again...
Flew back from Tenerife last Sunday (this was the last time I mixed with a lot of people other than my Wife).
On Tuesday I felt really dizzy when I bent down to pick something up from the floor, and felt a bit headachy.
On Wednesday I was in the garden digging, and every time I bent down and got back up I felt really super dizzy. To the point I had to hold onto something on a couple of occasions.
Other symptoms were a bit headachy, but also a real lack of enthusiasm to do anything and lacking energy.
I went for a 5 mile walk on Thursday, and barely made it home I was that lacking in energy.

So in summary:
Feeling dizzy, especially when getting up after bending down.
Lacking energy
Muzzy head

I only tested because I have a stack of old tests in the man drawer, and just thought 'I wonder if it's the coufe'?
I'm not vaccinated which might explain the fairly mild symptoms I have (vaxxed do seem to get it worse?)

I believe there has been some discussion over whether the spike proteins triggered by the mRNA injections might not be being cleared as they should be by the immune system due to them increasingly being seen by the immune system as part of the 'natural' body (something to do with IG10(?) antibody suppression?), so the immune response that would deal with a Covid infection and its spike proteins would effectively be suppressed - leading to longer / worse infections when they do occur.

I think it was discussed between Dr John Campbell and his Australian professor guest who is in the field - I will have to try and find the video.

In fairness, it is what the 'the science' is saying.

3 Studies showing a switch to ig4 response, which is not the response you want!

Some experts have said those studies could be showing that repeatedly boosting and jabbing could be teaching the immune system to tolerate the virus rather than fight it.

I'm sure it will studied for quite some time still.

I'm not sure how many people are still 'repeatedly boosting and jabbing'. I suspect most had the original pair of vaccines and possibly a booster.

We’ve heard of so many people getting it after flights. At least yours was coming back - friend of ours flew out to family abroad last week and came down with it a couple of days later, and she seems pretty bad by the sound of it. My wife is usually very gung-ho but even she is saying she doesn’t fancy getting on a flight just yet.

I've never COVID had 6 jabs , no I'll effects. My heart is probably strongest it has been in years. I am glad I never had it really can't be arsed with getting ill.

Have you had a cold in the last 3 years?

Ill from COVID specifically. Had a few colds but literally lasted a day. My immune system is low. Yet I never really get ill, since the jabs , seem to have boosted my system, as intended. Thinking of getting my seventh.

Suffering only marginally with colds and never getting ill suggests you have a strong immune system.

My blood tests would indicate overwise, specifically white blood cells. I think exercise, the heat the body generates does wonders for killing them off as well.

I got it last year on a flight back from Crete (only tested because I was due to go to a wedding). I was better in three days. Have been flying as much as I could throughout and it’s never bothered me. I wouldn’t want to put off doing stuff for the sake of what for most people is a mild illness.
Im not sure why people can’t just accept it for what it is now. I’ve had three jabs but no more as we all know they don’t stop you getting it or spreading it.

After avoiding Covid completely up until now, my OH tested positive Wednesday last week, and I did a couple of days later. Flu like symptoms for her so in bed for 3-4 days, whereas I had very bad cold symptoms but managed to carry on WFH at maybe 80% of usual capacity. No genuine loss of taste/smell other than the usual reduction you get with a bad cold and being "bunged up".

Both our major cold symptoms dissipated the last few days, but still feeling tired (not exhausted) (haven't been out the house so difficult to tell how knackered we might be if walking etc) and occasional headaches and bouts of dizziness.

Both tested positive again this morning very annoyingly, which is 10 days after first positive test for her, and 8 days for me. We have already had to miss a concert on Thursday, and have another even more expensive one booked for tomorrow. Covid insurance we had seems to be a waste of time as it requires a doctor visit who (quite reasonably) would probably tell us to get stuffed, and/or charge a fee similar to the ticket price.

I always thought we would get over it in a few days, and be back testing negative after a week to 10 days, but seems not to be the case.

Only good thing is that neither of us have been near our elderly parents recently, and hopefully we won't have to in a hurry for any emergencies.
