How do you get through divorce?

My wife saw a solicitor a couple of years ago, more in a last ditch attempt to save our marriage.
She still thinks she would have got the house, £200k worth all her saving £50k (I have none), 1/2 what's in my business £30k, half my pension, and an income for life. I would get to keep the buy to let, which has a loan of £80k on it and £60k equity.
We are over 50, been married 30 years, and our kids are grown up.
I spoke to 3 solicitors and they all said, I should target a clean break and 50% of everything.

That the solicitors on each side are so far apart, suggests that actually they want the whole fking lot.
They know exactly what you can afford, and they know how to use up billing hours to get it.

We are still together and in a much happier place.

Ok so hubby is coming out of the priory today, it didn’t last long. It’s a shame but it’s his decision.

If the roles were reversed and it was our female friend doing the cheating and abusing, everyone would be sympathetic and would believe every word being posted by her husband.

Instead of that ,even after the husband has admitted the errors of his ways the die hards on here turn on the wife and tells her she is a greedy so and so because hubby wants to make amends with the divorce settlement.

Even if this is a troll thread it reflects the beliefs of of those posting and shows up many for the type of people they really are.

Thank you Monkeylegend. It’s difficult to be here talking about this to you guys. I guess it being anonymous I felt safer to do so but some of the comments were upsetting.

Now as it's a wind up it doesn't particularly matter but....

It doesn’t help in the practical sense, Joanna is rightly annoyed that I shared a bias story where “husband has been wronged financially” where there is a much bigger story where she isn’t a “witch” but acting rationally to be sure her and our children are protected financially.

To be honest, I really wish this was trolling and not my life. I want to wake up and for this nightmare to have ended. And if not, then I would like the world to open up and just give me some peace. Or preferably of course, for her to take me back in some limited capacity.

The reason my wife came on here was to correct me as I had slurred her name even though none of you know who she is.
