How long did it take to receive your COVID test result?
Discussion
My 16 month old son had a test last Monday (12/10/20), high temp for 48 hours and has underlying health conditions (he’s now fine, couple of hours after test).
Unfortunately we’re still awaiting a result... called 119 after 72 hours, told we need to call back after 5 days. So, we did. It’s now been escalated to an investigation team... that will come back to us within 48 hours.
My 4 year old can’t go back to school until we provide proof of negative result... but we’re getting nowhere with the call centre. I know they are under huge loads, but just trying to gauge if it’s an isolated incident or and issue for more.
We’re based in Hampshire, if it helps.

Hope your little lad recovers soon.
But to be fair, a 16 month old with Covid19 is incredibly rare, like one in a (multi) million....
All the best
These were also our thoughts, but with our families recent run of bad luck and also his high exposure to a ward for blood transfusions, we thought we better get it checked. But to be fair, a 16 month old with Covid19 is incredibly rare, like one in a (multi) million....

My last one in South Yorkshire about 3 months ago turn around was about 24 hours.
Just had another at the hospital in West Yorkshire today so hopefully that will be as fast or faster as won’t give me treatment till they’ve ruled covid out despite a possible blood clot on my lung.
Either way hopefully it’s rapid so can get sorted

I was due a cataract op, and the test kit was brought to my house 72 hours before I was due to attend the hospital.
The guy waited for it, but in my rush to fill the paperwork in, to save him waiting an unnecessarily long time, I did something wrong, (wrote my D.O.B. where my NHS # should have gone, or something), so when I turned up at the hospital for the op, they wanted to do another test.
They swabbed my mouth and nose at 09.30, and gave me the all clear to go to ophthalmology at 13.30, it was all over, and my wife picked me up at 16.45.

I got involved with the ONS covid survey, where they test you at agreed regular intervals, but you don't get any results, as they work on the basis of, `if you don't hear from us, then you have not got CV19, but we will be in touch with you very quickly if a test comes up positive'
Seems to work quite well.

Very fast turn around colour me impressed
Sounds like the usual postcode lottery UK.
Seems the whole thing continues to be a farce. Of those travelling (pointlessly) to get a test (but didn't) what about the assessment of risk getting there? Risk is everywhere, every minute, every hour, every day. I wonder what the real figure for lives being lost not from covid but because of covid?
