It's because we don't pronounce the 'f' in 'of' as an 'f', we pronounce it as a 'v'.

Which is why 'could of' is often typed instead of 'could have' - grrrrr!

I think it's the way the brain works, it's goes faster than our fingers. We also read & miss things that aren't there like the following;

FINISHED FILES ARE THE RESULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTIFIC STUDY COMBINED WITH THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS.

How many 'F's are in the above?

Now count again, there should be six.
rofl

I took 4 go's at that.

Actually no, not rofl

I do this a lot.

It hasn't worried me.

I linked it to the old days of texting where I would remove as many words as possible. Emails are becoming the defacto formal way of communicating and I just think it is a transitional phase....

I do it all the time and have done for years.
I've also done it to an extent all my life, and am hopeless at proof reading my own stuff, and not great at others, is reasonable at picking up naff punctuation.

Not formally diagnosis, but definitely dyslexia as they come but with spelling and numbers, typing phone numbers and bankcard numbers is very slow and also mildly autistic. So also in speech and type often get the wrong word, the negative of what I mean do/don't, but also like words like now/not, and miss-hits like out/our etc.

That said I have noticed that autocorrect and or predictive text(ms office, and phone) and perhaps also age has lead to me being increasingly less arsed about exactly what I type because its bloody good at picking it up. However that does have issues with the forum, online forms, engineering work, where it isnt there.

Its also much much worse when I am tired. Currently 33yo for the record.
