Such a frustration with the broken scales.

Our new ones arrived. They are not as kind as the old ones were unfortunately. No idea on actual starting weight now but no problem, will just go from my first weigh in on the new scales.

Coming off nicely and reasonably consistently, because I'm a bit of a data geek I've been weighing myself every morning, first thing. Results below, notice the day-to-day variations up. I can confidently say that every day I've been in a reasonable calorie defecit (atleast 500cals) so I'm putting this down ot hydration mostly.

That’s a decent result so far!

I’m also trying to lose a few KGs.

The plan:

Less beer and midweek boozing
Less salty snacks and sugar
No grazing between meals
More fruit and veg, less processed meat

Cardio every day (we have an elliptical trainer and a bike trainer in the cellar with HR monitor and power meter)
One long dog walk every day (dog walking gets shared round the family - she gets more than one walk a day, haha)
Weight training with dumbbells
Back exercises and flexibility

Started on 03.01 at 110.4kg, am now at 108.

I've mentioned it before I think but I've always been very active, regular gym sessions and sport but my diet has always let me down. The saying 'you cant out work a bad diet' is so true in my case, my vices being sweet, sugary foods such as chocolate, cakes and desserts. Looking back its quite embarassing the amount I used to eat, when and how e.g. in the car or after the gym, absolute self-sabotage.

Beginning of the year I went cold-turkey on any obvious sugar sources, the cravings lasted a couple of days and then subsided. I was having a bit of a wobble a few days ago mentally and my automatic thought was to gorge on some stty, sweet food. Thankfully I managed to resist but it highlighted to me how much of an emotional backstop it has formed.

I’m getting spikes up at the weekend where I’m eating larger meals, particularly at lunchtime, and eating more between meals since I’m doing longer rides and runs. It seems to come off again pretty quickly the following Monday/Tuesday though and the general trajectory is down, which is the important thing.

I've lost 3.5kg so far (will update the table), with the gym being shut its really just been calorie deficient and running with the dog. I'm same as Pete very sugary tooth though I allow myself a couple of Jaffa cakes every now and then.

Update from me.

So a big loss in 2020 down to 13st 10 from 16st.

2021 has started more slowly, now down to 13st 6.7 (new more accurate scales). Averaging a pound a week which I suppose should be applauded but it's tough to weight (pun wink) for it to fall.

Yep I seem to have hit a barrier too ... not loosing much this week even though I'm still on low calories and no booze. It's quite amazing how weight goes up and down on a daily basis even though the general trend is down. Oh well, let's stick at it smile

Hi all,

Thought I'd join in on this!!

35 years old, 6ft 3, weighed myself on Tuesday this week and was 147.9kg. I've always been 'big boned' but had a happy weight around 110kg about 3 years ago.

Birth of my daughter and issues for my wife post birth led to overeating, eating crap and lack of exercise and just piled on the weight. The heaviest I've ever been is now and I feel it, aching joints, fatigue etc.

I'm tall and wide naturally so weight doesn't necessarily show that obviously but even I can see it now.

As soon as I saw my weight On Tuesday morning I thought I've got to sort this out, for my sake and my Daughters sake. We've booked a holiday for August (fingers crossed) and I want to try and get down to 110kg by then (if not lower)

I'm using myfitnesspal to track my diet, reducing all sweet/unhealthy right down and looking to just eat the right things. No alcohol either.

Just picked up a rowing machine for home as my wife works evenings which makes it difficult to get out and exercise. Used to do powerlifiting which I'd like to get back into in the future, loved deadlift, squats, etc etc.

Anyway, optimistic at present and trying to view this as a change in diet rather than being on a diet, I think this will help longterm.

Current progress is down to 145.9kg as of today so 2kg since Tuesday, hoping to keep this progress going for a few weeks at least and then work with the diet change and the Rowing to keep things moving.

Cheers

This weeks figures:
Average daily calorie intake - 984kCal
Alcohol intake - 0
Daily exercise on rowing machine
Weight loss - we'll see tomorrow morning

I'm particularly happy about the nil alcohol intake which has lasted over two months now; also the satisfaction of beating the calorie intake target week after week over the Christmas period. Weight loss has slowed down but I'm determined to keep trying to get down a bit more.

I’m in, plan is to start on Wednesday as tomorrow is my birthday.

Current weight 17st 6lb’s

Goal’s: March 31st down into the 15st range and I will start running again. Got to halve marathon distance in the summer and was regularly running 10k, but took it’s toll on my knees as was still 16st 7lb’s.

Target by the summer 14st

The plan is I will be going 3 x Huel shakes a day only until 31st March.

Wish me luck!
Quick update from me, down to 16st 12lb as of Friday 22nd Jan. Decided to only "Huel" Monday to Friday, with Weekend normal but reduced biscuit intake yum , seems to be working well.

Nice one!! Do you just use Huel for lunch and then have a normal meal breakfast/evening? Quite like the idea of the meal replacement thing during a normal working day, although at the moment working from home means i can prepare a proper lunch!

As of this morning i'm down from 147.9kg to 143.9kg since last week. Found the weekend quite difficult as i didn't have work to occupy my mind, and boredom usually leads to biscuits in my case. Fine again today, really enjoying the cleaner eating, definitely more energy and the results so far are good.

Rowing machine turns up today as well so looking forward to helping things along with that!!

Next weigh in will be next Monday now, after the first week of daily checks I'll leave it a bit longer.

Well done. If you're getting a Concept 2, join the Facebook community page. It's a really helpful and friendly group and you can pick up lots of good tips and info.

God I miss rowing. Unfortunately I don't have room for one at home.

No weight change for me this week...it was a..erm..week.

Although in other news, I have a Wahoo Kickr Core arriving Thursday! Just need to source the correct 9spd cassette and a new chain for it and I'll be able to rack up some miles on the bike without getting a) cold, b) wet or c) with a puncture 10 miles from home in the dark. Need a few other bits as well; a mat to go under the bike (it'll be on carpet so I don't want to sweat all over that) and possibly a table/stand to plonk stuff on in front of me. I have a couple of tower fans which should be more than sufficient (Wahoo's 'Headwind' is £200...! Talk about rip-off...). Gonna sign up to Rouvy rather than Zwift I think, it looks like more of an immersive experience and for me it's more about racking up miles at the right pace for my cardio than it is about competing with others.

Count me in too! Im 48, 5ft 8 and currently 11st 7. I started trying to lose weight from about Sept last year when i was 12st 12. This is the heaviest I've ever been so was determined to drop the weight.

Got to 11st 7lb now and could do with getting to 11st (69kg) i think. The moobs have reduced a lot but havent gone completely yet.
11 Stone is what I'm trying to get to, although I'm a hefty 15 stone at 5'7 at aged 34. I'm just making sure I keep below 1600 calories a day, I'm eating a lot of veg and doing 40 minutes working out at home each evening. It's difficult at the moment but I'm getting better. I haven't snacked on anything yet. Chocolate, bread and cheese are my main failings.

January goal achieved! As of this morning, I am under 80kg for the first time since (I think) September last year and 6.8kg down since the start of this year.

I’ll be finishing RED January this weekend but will continue to stay off the alcohol in February other than for my daughter’s birthday next weekend (since my wife always likes a bottle of fizz to remember her efforts!) and Valentine’s Day the week after that.

I fully expect the rate of loss to slow down but would still like to get down to 75kg by the end of March.

Thanks. I'm quite fortunate in that I seem to put weight on relatively less quickly than I should (at times I've been eating 2-3,000 calories of chocolate/crisps/beer a day on top of my normal meals) and am still able to shift it again when I put my mind to it. But I have been exercising a ridiculous amount since mid-December and next Monday will be my first rest day since 21 December. In that time, I'll have run nearly 200km and cycled nearly 1,900km and I have to admit, I'm feeling pretty exhausted. Combined with no booze and a significant reduction in snacking, I've been in big calorie deficit most days.

I have no intention of continuing to exercise that much or be quite so good with the food/drink but I hope to still be around 300-500 calorie deficit a day on average so with any luck, I'll keep dropping and eventually get to my 75kg target.

That sounds similar to what I've been doing. Drinking and eating lots of crap over the years but the weight only slowly creeped up. Now I've cut all that out and been walking 5 miles every day, the weight is just dropping off. I've done 5.15kg since 5 Jan and feeling great.
