I’m actually proud of myself. We’ve been put on extended 12 hour shifts over the weekend. Sadly not Monday when it’s double time…but my second early which I’m normally dead after.

1.5 miles completed in 19:20. Actually felt easier today! Boss at work told me about Fartlek and it seemed to work for me! Going to slow the speed down next week and increase the distance for a few sessions.

Not sure when I’ll next be going. Another two 12 hour shifts finishing at 4am and 3am over the weekend and then nights on Monday. Will try and pop down Monday before work.

Treating myself to a Dominos now…be rude not to as work are paying for it!

Great work, Losinggrip, keep it going (Not the Dominos, the running.... hehe )

I've weighed in today a stone lighter than when I started on 31st July. Happy with that, have been "fairly" careful over the four weeks not to eat too much crap. Have hit my 5k target of steps every day, in fact averaging 6.3k each day. Want to start the longer walks again soon so hopefully knees will stand up to the extra distance now there's a few kilos less of me to carry.

Good start but a long way to go.

Well the saga of the weight loss story continues. Through requirements to do my work I needed to get to 125kg.

This being for safety reasons. I got down to 125Kg a few months ago and that was a relief....

So I went for the safety critical and lo and behold... 4 kg had snuck on and I was tipping at 129kg...

It was a bit of a disappointment to say the least and there were some words as you can imagine.

Was told get it resolved and was given two months. Weigh in was this morning. Can say it was hard going over the past couple of months...

Working on it and getting it sorted as they say...

I was going to wait until the weigh in before getting on the scales... but my resolve broke and went on them this morning.

So it was a trip up to the nurse to get on the scales...
now I know what a trucker feels like when he is marshalled into the weigh station.

So step on to the scales and see what it read...

118KG... a drop of 11kg in two months.

Lost around a third of my weight. And feel oh so much better for it..

They asked me how I felt...
hungry wasnt the answer they were looking for lol

Over a third of my body weight gone. And yes i can do those twee pictures with my trouser waist pulled out.
waist size down from 50 to a 42

Well done to everyone - inspiring to read about the hard work and success.

First I was here: - 24th June

Smitters said:
Been stuck at 84kg for a few weeks, so stuck with the diet but increased the intensity of my workouts slightly and it's showing signs of success which is good.

Downside is I had my work health check last week and they rang me to explain the results. Short version, not good, call the GP. So, I'll be focusing harder on the types of fat I'm consuming because I still firmly believe a protein and fat based diet is better for me than a carb heavy one.
Then I was here: - 28th July

Smitters said:
Finally shifted the scales - they showed an 82.xx yesterday. I've not got three weeks with the missus and kids off at the Grandparents, so I'm throwing myself into healthy eating and exercise with zero distraction - got to take advantage when I can!
And now I'm, well, still at 82.xx. In reality, it's positive that I've shifted 5-6kg and built some fitness and quite a bit of strength. It's also a positive that after my three weeks solo (I ate really well and then really badly) and then two weeks at the out-laws where pudding is mandatory I am actually still at 82.xx. Just.

I could be disappointed and the reality is my body shape has changed for the worse, even though the weight is the same. I definitely feel worse too from eating less than ideal food for basically a month, but the big bonus is the missus has decided to start following a low GI diet, which if you squint, matches quite nicely with what I've been doing. Hopefully I can dip into the 70's in the next four weeks and I'll feel better for it.

I didn’t join at the start of the year, but was doing a personal weight loss attempt.

Did the best part of a 20kg loss, by just eating sensibly, cutting out anything bad (i.e crisps, sweets, booze etc. Oh and bread. Got into real bad lockdown habit of having sandwich and crisps for EVERY lunch, so knocked that on the head).

But then holiday came along in June and since then the wheels fell back off. WAY WAY too much booze. Too much eating. Culminating in the last fortnight which was an all inclusive holiday.....

I actually feel st. I can feel my fat bits wobble, and they’re almost tender like they’re over inflated. I’m exhausted as i haven’t been getting restful sleep, just boozed up all inclusive holiday “sleep”. My face is puffy. My clothes are clinging again. I’m like 10lbs of st in a 5lb bag.

So. Tomorrow, I start again.

Last set of shifts were hard work. Six shifts with three 12 hours and manic for most of it.

Today is day four off and only just felt human again. Dragged myself to the gym and despite not having ate not having any music to listen to I did my mile and a half in 19:24 seconds. Around the same as last week.

I’ll go again on Monday after work.

Today was the following.

5:00 @ 6KPH
3:00 @ 10kph
3:00 @ 6KPH
2:30 @ 10kph
2:30 @ 6kph
1:30 @ 10kph
1:30 @ 6kph
1:00 @ 10kph
1:00 @ 6kph

Then ran at 10kph to get to 2.4km.

Five minute walk.

Fitness test in just under two weeks. I’m thinking I’ll be OK but dread it all the time.

What time do you have to log for the fitness test? I used to run the 2.4k quite often as it was also a fitness test I had to pass. I never failed but rarely felt like I had nailed it, if you start out wrong you can't recover so I tended to hedge my bets a bit and make sure I didn't blow out.

Fitness test is only 5.4 on the bleep test (15m) so not huge. For me it’s more the mental side of it that I struggle with.

Back to the gym.

Aimed to take it a little slower/easier today but still did 1.5 miles in 19:30. But it felt easier. Which is good!

Food wise hasn’t been brilliant this week but I’ve had smaller portions which I’m happy with.

We’ve got a well-being van coming to work next month so going to have a chat with them about what I can do about my sleep and motivation to be active.

Hi Guys.

I have to be honest I've fallen well and truly off the wagon with food and exercise but have made a commitment to get back to it and using the start of the rugby season as the motivation I need. Was my heaviest ever at 24st4.2lbs in July so need to do something about it!

Watch this space.

Did some couch to 5K today. Week three day two.

Five minute walk
90 seconds at 10KPH
90 seconds at 6KPH
Three minutes at 8.5KPH
Three minutes at 6KPH

Repeat it once.

Five minute walk at the end.

It felt very good. Not too hard which was nice! Breathing felt under control as well.

Anyone tried fast800 diet?
The theory is to eat 800 calories/day and intermittent fasting. It seems a lot like a mild version of keto but healthier (cutting out processed foods) and more protein.
I'm on day 2 and feel terrible right now. Headache and lethargic. It's going to be struggle to keep it going.

That doesn’t sound healthy or sustainable at all.

My first thought was it didn't seem 'mild' at all. When I tried (successfully) a Keto type diet - I minimised rather than completely cut out carbs - I used My Fitness Pal to track diet. If I ended up with less than 1200 cals in a day it wouldn't log the progress as the App considered it an inadequate intake for my sex/age/height combo

It’s intended to be a short term diet and it’s healthy in that context before transitioning to a longer term Mediterranean style diet. It’s best thought of as a kick start to a longer term diet.

Week three day three completed.

A lot harder than on Monday, but two hours sleep and after work. Happy I finished it.

Fitness test on Friday and I’m feeling confident about it.

What is a good thing to eat on Thursday? Fitness test is in the morning. About 0830. I’ll have some toast around 6am most likely or maybe some scrambled egg as well.
