Just bought some new scales as the old ones varied by 4lbs depending on whether you are leaning forward or back.

6'1" and currently 14st 8-10ish, up from 14st 2-4 last spring. Fell off the exercise wagon since lockdown 1 when I suddenly had nothing to train for.
Hmmm, quoting this from a week ago. Looks like it was worse than I feared as the new scales arrived that day and I weighed in on Wednesday morning at 14lb10. Considering I started eating less/doing more on the 28th (apart from NYE when I had a drink) I must have been near 15st. frown

This morning I'm at 14st8 and my jeans are noticeably looser.

Kids have had Covid contact so at home schooling this week and I'm not sure dry January will survive so I've got some light tonic in...

I bought some new scales last week. They're suppose to say your weight. Their first words to me were "Geh von mir runter, du fetter B@st@rd" ... they're German wink

I bought some new scales which do the whole Body Fat/Muscle/Bone Density measurement. They are more accurate in terms of decimalised lbs as opposed to my old scales which was simply Quarter/Half/Three quarters.

They appear to be almost a lb out (in the wrong way) compared to my old scales though. I've had to work that off and catch up before I can post further progress biggrin

As the guy who started the first one of these in 2019 I am back and it is great to see this is still going.

What isn't so great is that I have gone from 93kg in 2019 I am now back up to 103kg, not as heavy as my heaviest in 2019 of 110kg but it could be better. So back to aiming for 85, I have already cut out the junk food and I don't really drink anyway so that's not an issue. It is time to get back on the exercise bike and HIIT I was doing before I got really into it but a house move mid 2019 means I haven't really "worked out" since then and until mid last year (when I last stood on the scales) I was still down at 95kg, winter has not been kind hehe

A request, if I do not weekly weigh in, someone needs to PM me "Dan, you fat , how much do you weigh and what is your excuse this week?" (hint: I don't have a single good excuse right now hehe)

I've started a concerted effort now after watching my weight creeping up over the last couple of months of 2020 and my alcohol intake go through the roof.

I'm off the sauce now for January as a minimum and will see how I feel after that. Also cutting out most, but not all, snacks and treats. My basic diet is pretty healthy so that doesn't need much attention if I deal with the drink/crisps/chocolate. I've bought a set of smart scales and am weighing myself every morning for interest, although I'm really interested in the weekly, rather than daily movements.

So far, I've shifted 2.4kg since New Year's Day which seems like an awful lot in a few days. I'm guessing most of that is just my body removing the obscene amounts of food that were constantly being stuffed into it over Christmas and NY.

Started 1 January at 86.6kg and am down to 84.2kg as of this morning. The plan is to try and be as close to 75kg by the end of February as possible.
82.3kg as of this morning so 4.3kg down since New Year's Day. Body fat down and muscle mass up according to the smart scales so it all seems to be working well so far.

I have to admit that I'm not missing the drink as much as I thought I might so will look to extend the abstinence beyond the end of January. Although there's no way my wife will let me get away with not having a bottle of something fizzy on Valentine's Day so perhaps that can be my target date for staying alcohol free.

Getting in on this. 6ft 2 and 7 days ago was was 252.6lbs (just over 18 stone or 114.5kg). As with many, the weight has creeped up steadily by a few pounds every year.

Being tall with fairly broad shoulders I generally don't look fat - on the one hand that is good, but at the same time, it's deceptive how much excess weight you can carry when you're tall.

Today am 247.2lbs (17.6 stone or 112kg). Aiming for 100kg in the next few months. Long term need to get back to down circa 90-95kg.

I've quit all alcohol and have basically been having eggs for breakfast, salad with tuna or chicken for lunch and our normal dinner which tends to be decent fresh cooked anyway with a good mix of carbs and protein.

Not trying to follow any specific diet, just cutting out the rubbish and trying to induce quite a sharp calorie reduction for the first few weeks at least.

I have no doubt that a lot of the initial loss is probably water but still encouraging to see the figures coming down. Have been weighing myself every morning and seeing a steady reduction which I find very motivating.

Will be posting in the giving up booze thread too, my issue is I've been chinning the booze quite hard for the past few years and approaching 40 need to knock it on the head to get out of prime heart attack territory!

Well Saturday will be the end of my 10 week 911 diet and the results are in. Daily average intake (kCal) has been as follows:

  • Breakfast 101
  • Lunch 435
  • Evening meal 420
  • Daily total 956 kCal

  • Drinks included (No alcohol)
All meals at home due to lockdown.

I weigh weekly on Sunday mornings starting at 98 kg and (hopefully) I'll be down to 86 kg on Sunday; so that's a twelve kg loss over ten weeks.

So now I'll move on to the 997.2 diet (yes you've guessed it - that means 997.2 kCal per day target food intake) which will hopefully get my weight down at the rate of 0.5 kg per week to my target of 80 kg. I may have a drink or two along the way but will be counting the calories on top of the food intake.

Here's to the next 12 weeks, and roll on spring ! coffee

Fair play, I'd be climbing the walls sustaining such a low calorie intake for that amount of time!

OK I want to get back on this, started 2020 last year around 105, got down to 97 (ish) around mid Feb, with a starting goal of 90 by the end of the first quarter.

By Christmas I was back up to 105, I've given up booze for Jan (hopefully longer but taking it 1 step at a time) already down to 102, I want to aim for 90 by April.

Diet has ways been good, do plenty of walking it's drink that does it for me.

I'll get myself on the chart.

Started a Keto diet on 4th Jan - weighed in at pretty much exactly 20 stone (127Kg). I'm 5'11" so extremely overweight / fat / obese.

Two weeks later I'm down to 19 stone (120.5Kg). I know that quite alot of this is water, but I'm pretty pleased. It's been a very easy diet to stick to. I've just not been hungry.

Collecting some digital scales later today, so I can be more precise about measuring. Only going to weigh myself every two weeks.

Goal is to get under 100Kg (15 stone 10 pounds), but I'd like to undershoot to maybe 90Kg to give me a bit of leeway when I switch to a low carb diet and resume alcohol.

Perversely, I think lockdown actually makes it easier as there's no option to go out and eat / drink.

Sounds like you're more or less aiming for the same as me. Good luck.

Agreed about lockdown, as much as I miss the pub and going out, the fact it's just not an option helps.

Also, part of my motivation is the reduced chance of serious illness if I catch it.

Right, I'm back on board with this. I won't lie; I found the back end of last year and the start of this one really, really tough for several reasons. I let dietary control go and end result is I'm back at 137kg as of this morning and have realised that rather than helping me 'get through it' it's actually now doing the opposite.

Like the first lockdown I'm going to focus on just getting diet under control as I know that's 80-90% of the battle for me. Have renewed MFP Premium and will be recording accurately again. I'll work on getting out and about for a bit each day as well but getting to grips with diet again will be the main thing.

Yup - pretty much spot on. Although, regarding the serious illness part we should probably have started this last March :-)

Welcome back Funk, what does premium MFP give you over the freebie versions? Worth having?

Another 4lb off this week, taking me to 12lb since starting. Again, not the best week so I'm really happy with that. I'm isolating for a few days now so no temptations from takeaways!
