I’ve got my vaccine appointment this weekend.
No way I’m going for it. I don’t believe in Covid and I don’t believe in their vaccine.

Question to the ones who are all for vaccination. How far do we need to go for vaccination before you will be happy with feeling safe?
My view was as soon as the vast majority of the old and vulnerable were done and offered vaccine it was job done. Just like the flu vaccine to a certain extent.
But just how far do we go, I mean are you happy to be injecting young children and babies? Despite the evidence that they are virtually immune? There seems to be evidence of little transmission in primary schools too.
There doesn't seem much point and doesn't sit too well in my mind, but others may think differently.

I'd have thought it would be enough to carry on vaccinating until those in their mid 40's are done? I am 49 and a bit tubby, so I am keen to have it.I guess this is a question for the scientists/experts though.

You need a calculated percentage vaccinated to achieve herd immunity. What percentage will depend on a number of factors, like how infectious the disease is. I'm not sure on the exact figure, or if anyone is at this stage, but that is the minimum.
Realistically, due to issues with vaccinating children and some vulnerable groups, I think you are talking about almost every adult in the UK doing their part.
But you'd need a better scientist than me to say for sure.

For me it is not necessarily about preventing me from getting it (FWIW I am 90% certain I had it Feb '20 whilst commuting over to a client in Holland every week), but more to cut the transmission risk in the gen pop to prevent more mutations from occurring that could potentially be immune to the current crop of vaccines. I would personally like to see 80%+ of the adult pop vaccinated.Uggers said:

There are estimates of R0 for the new variants (1.5-1.7), and a classical formula for calculating herd immunity threshold from R0 (1-1/R0) but I guess you have to adjust that when the effect of vaccination on transmission is less than 100%?Uggers said:

It's a safe vaccine. This is not thalidomide.
Children are not immune, they're just generally more able to deal with the virus than the elderly/vulnerable. They are however carriers and we should remember that this is not a 100% vaccine and not 100% of people who 'need' it are able to have it.
Jab everyone I say.

You're either trolling, or mentally ill. People who are vaccinated CAN STILL CARRY COVID you clown.
Either way it's probably best you're best ignored. As much as there may disagreement here, I like to think we're all mature enough to know to ignore you.

After all, you didn't get where you are today without always being right about things you know nothing about. No way I’m going for it. I don’t believe in Covid and I don’t believe in their vaccine.
Ask anyone down the pub, they'll confirm it!

Truly a fluid situation we're dealing with. (between your ears?)
I have a friend who has been an active Covid denier, anti vaxxer , been on the marches etc.
He has 2 jobs currently, doing one (healthcare) whilst waiting for the other job to restart (in sport/fitness industry).
It hasn't dawned on him that both employers have stated that they require all staff to be vaccinated.
He say's its personal choice to refuse Vaccine. They won't sack him of course, just the shifts offered to him will 'disappear' over time.
But he's soon to be out of 2 jobs. He can't work in healthcare with terminally ill patients who are especially vulnerable to Covid and similar illnesses. He can't work in a fitness arena (personal trainer, swimming coach) because these environments will be of higher risk of virus transmission, and yet he still thinks post lockdown that he will have both jobs.
He doesn't see it as his responsibility in any way to prevent the spread of the disease because Covid doesn't exist. It's government created to control us all, inject us with something etc.
His girlfriend works for the NHS in A&E. She's had the vaccine already and he was furious with her.
Other than this topic, he's a sane caring guy. I just don't get it.

Long term effects obviously cannot be understood
They can. In 300 years of various vaccines, long term effects have never been a thing. Or if they are, no one knows about them as we don't track any vaccine for long term effects, as we're so confident they don't happen. SpeckledJim said:
Protesting is exciting. The attention it gets you is gratifying.
Thinking you know something that others don't is pleasing.
Walking the path less trodden makes you special.
All of this is just emotional, it's nothing to do with facts and the truth.

Every gobste asshat denier is now a poundshop virologist, but they never turn left and tell someone who has 2,000 hours on type how to fly the plane that's taking them on their holibobs *
- holibobs because they're invariably of the U OK Hun tribe.
