A work colleague was having the jab last week, he said people when they found out it was AZ were refusing it and walking out...
Don't let it boil your piss. There's a shortage anyway, it will get reallocated to someone less ignorant.Hopefully in the meantime, they'll either realise it's safe, or they'll get another brand of vaccine. The fact they showed up shows that they're willing to be vaccinated which is better than nothing.
We just have to hope they don't contract COVID in the mean time of course, as presumably they are a risk group. It's easy to get pissy with these folk but, despite the evolutionary advantages, we don't honestly want them to die of stupidity.

I doubt that actually happened particularly in plural, but it made your colleague sound more interesting. r159 said:

Good. All the more for people with an IQ over 25. It's just a shame the people being offered jabs currently and refusing them are all over 50, so even if they die of Covid, have probably had their kids and passed the idiocy gene down to a new generation. TwigtheWonderkid said:

And today’s update via a neighbour, and he told my FIL
But the original words came out of my brother in laws mouth.
Princess Diana is still alive and trump is in charge.
And he told the old bloke round the corner he mustn’t have the vaccine because he’ll be dead within two years if he does.

I don’t know of any who won’t have it. But I am lucky to have a group of normal well educated friends and family. It’s the Facebook reading mouth breathers that love to spin a conspiracy theory.
Me too! I don't know anyone that is anti. The bits of the vaccine development that were rushed through was the 7 years of fundraising and business analysis.. We make a new flu vaccine every year.
It seems to be the same people that winge about the competency of our leaders are the same ones that are convinced they have successfully managed a worldwide conspiracy to inject super micro electronics into our heads for mind control. But these facts are only available to the unemployed and heavy pot smokers.

You don't know any of them, but you do know that it is a single group of people holding both those views? ...

Long term effecys is the only reason i wont take it. Your dismissivness of narcolepsy is a bit sad. For those affected, some at least, its pretty grim and a life changing condition. One in 18000 is hardly low. Thats a greater risk than dying in an RTA.
Which is the driver. The risk of covid is known. The risk from long term effects is unknown. The risk from covid (for me) is less than an RTA. But i still drive, as do most of us.
What long term side effecs am i worried about? How can anyone know that? We dont know what, if any there might be. Other than saying, a temporary side effect doesnt concern me at all, but a long term debilitating effect (like narcolepsy) definitely does.
In a nutshell, the risk to me of covid is tiny, the long term risks from the vaccine(s) unknown. To take it is a leap of faith that it will be OK. Lets hope it is for everyones sake. The thought of a widespread serious side effect doesnt bear thinking about.
I know about 10 people who have had covid. Two of them are still suffering a year later. One is early 50s, one late 30s, both previously fit and active 'doers'. Which is the driver. The risk of covid is known. The risk from long term effects is unknown. The risk from covid (for me) is less than an RTA. But i still drive, as do most of us.

I am sure they would both swap there current health for a 1in20k chance of narcolepsy.

The French seems to have an unhealthy infatuation with alternative medicine.
No such thing. There's medicine that works and medicine that doesn't. "You know what they call alternative medicine that works?"
"Medicine"
