Megane 2 stuck in reverse and clutch pedal has a lot of play
Discussion
Hi,
My megane 08 1.5 dci is stuck in reverse gear I have tried as hard as I could to get it back into neutral but no luck.
I've also noticed that the clutch pedal now seems very loose as well....like there is no pressure there when I push the clutch in.
Anyone have any ideas what this could be caused by?

Hi thanks.....ive been looking up how to do this but can't seem to find anywhere....
Update on this.....
I have managed to get it out of reverse by switching the engine on with clutch in and by some force.....now what is happening is......
If the engine is off I can select all gears
But
As soon as I turn the engine on I cant select any gears
Does this give any more clues?

What you are likely seeing is the brake fluid in a shared reservoir being at minimum.
This is pretty much certain to be caused by a clutch fluid leak losing all of the fluid from the clutch side of that reservoir.
For obvious reasons there is a weir in the reservoir to keep some for the brakes even if the clutch side leaks away.
Open the lid & have a good look inside, I am guessing you will see what I am talking about.

Thanks both.....is the fluid level I should be checking what I would have thought is the brake fluid level? (I have no idea) if so this is on the minimum level....or should I be looking else?....ive spent an hour on Google but can't make sense of it! Thanks
Yes, the Megane 2 shares the fluid for the Clutch and Brakes in this reservoir. I suspect your clutch slave cylinder has failed, the bad news is it is concentric and actually in the gearbox itself. If this is the case then the gearbox has to be dropped to replace it, and while you are in there you might as well replace the clutch as well. I suspect unless this is an amazingly clean and low mileage example that it might be uneconomic to repair.
Fill the reservoir back up and see if the clutch comes back just incase it is only a leak rather than the slave failing.
