A thread to collect all those interesting stories that keep coming out about the wonderful GOP and it's members (past AND present).

Excellent idea (however I'm hoping that it won't be needed!)

My current fave: https://us.cnn.com/2021/06/17/politics/tucker-carl...

A US right leaning website latched onto the use of the term “unindicted co-conspirators” referred to in indictments of those charged for the Capitol riots. It ran with a “wouldn’t it be weird if they are undercover Feds” angle.

Enter Tucker Carlson, Fox News’s premier idiot, to claim that these individuals *were* undercover FBI agents and so the whole Capitol riot thing was a false flag/entrapment/left wing/ deep state/establishment conspiracy. Carlson’s not the sharpest butter knife out there, so overlooked that they’d have been planted by the FBI while Trump was President.

Cue: the Greek chorus of Matt “Is that girl for sale?” Gaetz and Majorie “QAnon” Taylor Greene, who prompted tweeted this palpable bullst. Know thy fan base, I guess. Also providing supporting roles: Paul Gosar, Steve Bannon and Candace Owens, as the perpetually gullible outraged.

Bloomberg

Bloomberg opinion piece claiming that Trumps attempt to pressure the DOJ was worse than Nixon....

What would have happened if (a) trump and his team were vaguely competent and (b) a handful of election officials hadn't stood up to the illegal attempts to steal the election?

Talking of Texas, sthead err I mean Ted Cruz doesn't think Matthew McConaughey should run for Governor, nothing to do with a poll showing a double digit lead over incumbent Republican Abbott I'm sure...
