Cancelled and rebooked mine and got it bang on 8 weeks rather than 12 as originally booked. I then did the same for my wife's appointment, and in the 2 minutes it had been my original appointment I had cancelled for myself was already showing up as available - so if you are worried about cancelling it appears you should be able to quickly rebook the slot you had if necessary.
