Saturday morning 91.8kgs.

We had friends over yesterday and I did a full Christmas dinner with nibbles and snax, roasted chestnuts, starters, full roast, Christmas pud with brandy cream, then games, mulled wine and mince pies. All washed down with copious amounts of wine and fizz.

Out of curiosity I weighed myself before bed and was up to 94.4kgs yikes

Back down to 92.7 this morning. Sub 93kg into the new year might be harder than I thought.

Time to get some swim sessions booked for the week hehe

Had a bit of a week of gluttony this week.

Lots of treats, choc, cake and mince pies at work. Curry on Tuesday night Few bottles of cider etc.

Held at 92.9kg all week. 93kg into the new year will be a miracle... At least the weather is a bit more amicable for a decent blast around the woods on my MTB this weekend.

My normal aim at this time of year is to exit the Christmas & NY period having put no weight on.

Luckily I really don't like mince pies, Christmas pudding or Christmas cake so that helps. But there all those extra beers and glasses of wine, crisps, nuts, etc and they quickly add up.

I usually use my extra spare time over the period to run a lot and, in the past, have run 10k's in Feb which really helps to motivate me. This year I've got a minor back twinge so running and gym work are out. So I'm swimming at least 1k every second day and doing lots of walking on the days in between. I started this three weeks ago to protect my back and can already feel new muscle mass around my arms and shoulders. No weight loss although I've definitely improved my BMI a bit.

I'll soon add the gym work and running back into the mix and hope so a kilo or two drop off in January and through Feb through a combo of cranking up the exercise (both strength and cardio) and cutting down on worst of the dairy, beer, complex carbs, etc.

If there is one I might sign up to give me some incentive.

This afternoon, my sister sent me some photos she took of her kids & I yesterday morning and it hit me what a fat knacker I have become over the last 2 years.

Need to reverse that and always good to have folks to report back to on successes or failures.

Happy Christmas!

I hope we see a '23 thread appear with a new wiki. Over the past 10days ive tried my hardest to pile back on my '22 losses and have made some decent headway hehe

I hit my Christmas morning target of 93kg on the nose but since then I've had essentially two extremely indulgent Christmas's.

My thinking is that of I shovel down all the sugar, fat and carbs now (to the point of literally not being able to move), then it's not in the cupboard for future me to eat when I'm trying to be good.

May as well do it in style I guess.

Roll on '23. Looking forward to getting back into thinning mode and detoxing a bit post the Christmas gluttony.

Go on then chaps.

Let's have a good old laugh!

Whose put on the most weight over Christmas?!

Morning of Saturday 17th December = 91.8kg

Since then I've essentially had 3 full Christmas days with more cake, choc, mince pies, alcohol, pud than you can shake a stick at.

Morning of Friday 30th December = 94.9kg

+3.1kgs in 2 weeks yikes

Hopefully some of it is just "transient" food mass.

70.6kg so only roughly 0.5-1kg gain max! Haven't touched any alcohol since boxing day (ok not that long ago), all the mince pies/cakes in the house is now gone. So should start 2023 in a much better place than 2022 interms of body shape.

88.7 today, up 7.3 kg from a couple of weeks ago yikes . However, that follows a pizza and belly full of beer last night as early NY celebrations as some of us have jetted off today to warmer climates. No more crap for me so I should be heading in the right direction again next week.

I'm impressed. I thought I'd done a good job of unwinding a few weeks but you've managed a fair whack more - solid effort.

Now.... Where's that 2023 thread hehe

We need to keep this one going as this is the thread for the real hardcore bds smile . The 2023 thread will be full of 5-minute wonders who will hit the gym hard for the first 3 weeks of January, see they've only lost 1 lb in exchange for flogging themselves to death, then promptly give up and go back to their old habits because it's all too much effort. hehe

Whilst I enjoyed the carb-binge blow-out for the past 2 weeks, the after-effects are not good. Aside from my entire body feeling and looking like an inflated balloon, the lethargy is real, the brain fog/lack of concentration is real, the acne spots are real, the leg cramps when sleeping is real and the acid reflux is real. I bet I lose all of those in short order once I return to my previous fasting regime and won't be long til I'm feeling great again.

Who is still on-board the train? Zoom is still here and rodders, but CAH might have fallen off and a few others?

It's certainly odd isn't it. This last week I spent 3 and a bit days at the outlaws. They live in the bum fk middle of nowhere and my car was out of action due to pothole damage, no public transport and horizontal driving rain basically meant it was TV, food, nap, snax, film, repeat.

Didn't sleep well and I've felt bloated and uncomfortably full constantly.

Whilst i love the taste of food and it's delicious (there's the reason I was a fatty) I can't wait to "empty the system", feels like I have a header tank at the minute and it needs draining down....

Yep same feeling. I have to confess that the originally planned 1 day of mince pie tasting got a bit out of hand. We were still at it a couple of days ago, but the plus side is I'm now a mince pie expert smile . I've lost count of how many boxes of them we've had but I can tell you that Tesco Finest Salted Caramel crumble are the daddies, nothing else comes close hehe .

I'm.still here but have been avoiding the scales for a week or 2 as it will be grim reading smile

Will have an end of year weigh in and plan to take 2-3 months off drinking so that should help shift some blubber. Seemed to work well last year and my body needs a break from it.

End of year - I'm down slightly weight wise so I'll take that as a mini win

Start of year I was 14 stone, mid year under 12 stone and year end 13 stone 9. I suspect a week of no drink and improved diet would see a 4+ lb loss as I'm bloated from Xmas

I've learned that I can't maintain under 12 stone. I'm too low body fat at that level, my gym work suffers and it's too restrictive diet wise.

I could have kept the weight off better recently but I've been pushing the gym work following time off mid year due to broken fingers.....oh and I'm a greedy fat kid at heart frown

I need to be sub 13 stone so that is the target for 2023

I've really enjoyed this thread so thanks all.

A late check in at this end and surprised not to have found myself on the wall of shame on the wiki.
It’s not been the year I’d set out for, starting at 107, down to 103 and staying around there into May, now floating back around the 105 mark.
I’m currently completing couch to 5k as whilst I know weight is lost in the kitchen, unless I have a focus on exercise goals I don’t pay any attention to what I’m eating. I might not be where I’d have liked to have been this year, but setting myself up for a stronger start in 2023 so at least I’ll be a step ahead.
Well done to the losers, some cracking results being posted!
Well this blooming winter cold out an end to the running and I still can’t shake it off. Sat at 103.3kg for year end, which could’ve been worse.

My biggest change has been replacing lunch junk food with ready to drink Huel and a banana, which I’ll continue with next year.

Whilst I’m nowhere near my goal for the year, I’m still lower than the start of the year so that’s something. This time next year Rodders…

Those huel RTD aren't THAT great.

They're about 400cal if memory serves me right for 20g protein. Add a banana to that and you're knocking of the door of a 500cal lunch, which is nearly a Tesco sandwich meal deal (depending on what you go for)

I'm not saying it's bad (far from it), and if it works for you then that's great. But there are other ways of getting equal or more protein in you for way less calories, if that's your goal. I really enjoy grenade bars which are about 220calories and have 20g of protein in them and are also really tasty and filling.

Will there be a fresh 2023 thread or does this one continue?

Well done to everyone on this thread who stayed with it through the year, I have a lot of respect and admiration for your discipline!

I was terrible, and didn’t do myself any favours this year and it has had an effect on my physical and mental wellbeing… so i would really like to join in and keep checking in through 2023.
